I'mafraidofusingtheIWBinfrontofmystudents.Theyallknowsomuchaboutcomputersandwhatifsomethinggoeswrong?Studentswillbequietlyproudofthemselvesforbeingabletodosomethinginfrontoftheclass.Itwillalsobuildtheirconfidenceandmakethemfeelmoreresponsibleforwhatisgoingoninclass.TheIWBisgoodforteachingyounglearners,butdoesn'tseemtoworkwithadults.TheIWBisintuitivelyappropriatetousewithyoungerlearners,becausetheyreadilygetinvolvedingamesandquizzes.Withadultsyouwilljusthavetogofordifferenttypesofactivitiesandinteraction,e.g.usingtheboardforpresentations,graphs,maps,etc.YouhavetousetheIWBallthetime.Notatall!ExpertssayyoucanusetheIWBineveryclass,buttheattentionoftheteacherandthestudentsshouldnotbefocusedonitformorethan20minutesinalesson.TheIWBisdefinitelyoneofthemostpowerfulelementsoftheteachingmix,butitshouldnotbecomedominant.It'llbeimpossibletomanagetheclassstudentswilljuststartshoutingouttheanswers.Itispossiblethatstudents,particularlytheyoungerones,cangetexcitedaboutthenew"gadget"inclass.Youcouldtrytousethisinitialinteresttoyouradvantage:showthemdifferentfunctionsoftheIWB,playgames,getthemtointeractwiththeIWB.
