Wyoming State Map

State BirdWyoming’s state bird is the western meadowlark. It became the official state bird in 1927. The bird has stripes that are black and white and it has bright yellow cheeks and a bright yellow chest with a black V shape on it.

State Flag Wyoming’s state

flag has a red and white rim and the middle is blue with a picture of a buffalo in the middle of the blue and a picture of the state seal in the middle.

State Flower

January 31 year of 1917 the Indian paintbrush became the official state flower. The Indian paintbrush has another name the Desert paintbrush.

License Plate

•Since 1930 the license plate numbers have been assigned by county. People know what county you are from by looking at your license plate. •Counties with the most mineral resources have lower numbers (like 1 or 2) & counties with the least have higher numbers (like 22 or 23)

State Quarter The horse and the rider on the coin represent the western culture of Wyoming. This coin was sent out Sept. 3, 2007.

State Seal

Wyoming's great seal was adopted in 1893 and revised in 1921. The woman in the center holds a pole with a banner that says “Equal Rights". On the state seal there is a woman standing on a throne under an equal rights banner with two men at her side.

IndustryMANUFACTURING MINING

Very few items are manufactured in Wyoming.

Soda ash is the most important manufactured product. Second is refining petroleum.

Wyoming mines more than any other state.

Leading coal producing state.

Wyoming also produces bentonite & other clays.

Agriculture & Livestock Wyoming’s top crop is hay. Sugar

beets, dry beans, wheat rounds, & barely are the other top four crops. Other crops are corn for grain, oats, & sunflowers.

Beef cattle is Wyoming’s most important source of money. Hogs, sheep, & lambs are also important livestock.

Devils Tower

Devils Tower was the first National Monument to be declared on September 24, 1906. Devils Tower is about 5,112 feet tall (1,558 meters). Devils Tower was named in 1875.

Yellowstone National ParkThe park is in the city of

Montana. Yellowstone has more geysers than any other place in the world. Yellowstone’s most famous geyser is named old faithful because you always know when it is going to erupt.
