GENERAL INFORMATION

Academic Integrity Code The Academic Integrity Code is a communal expression of the importance of academic honesty and integrity. The Code, to which every incoming student is required to subscribe, governs all activities involving the academic work of the student. The Code also governs the bases for evaluating intellectual achievement, written or oral, including examinations, quizzes, tests, themes, reports, recitations, and laboratory exercises. The Academic Integrity Code is available to view online at muhlenberg.edu/pdf/main/aboutus/dean-academic/AcademicIntegrityCode.pdf, and students should familiarize themselves with its provisions.

Adding/Dropping Courses Students may add and/or drop courses without academic penalty until the add/drop period ends. Please refer to the Academic Calendar for the add/drop dates for your classes.

Auditing Courses Students in good academic standing may audit one course per semester with the approval of the instructor. Instructors must explicitly detail their expectations for students auditing their courses at the beginning of the semester, and students must seek the consent of their faculty advisor. Typically, students auditing a course are expected to complete all assignments and participate in class discussion but may not be required to submit written work or take exams. Students may change a course from audit (no course unit attempted) to a regular course unit basis or vice versa during the add/drop period with the approval of the instructor and the faculty advisor. The student’s transcript will list the audited course with a grade of “AU” if the student has satisfactorily completed the audit. If the student fails to fulfill the expectations of the audit, no notation will appear on the transcript.

‘Berg Bookshop Hours of Operation: Monday – Friday 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Saturday* 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Extended hours during first week of classes. *Saturday hours when College is in session. Closed during breaks and holidays. Visit the bookstore website at bergbookshop.com to view the most up-to-date information.

Full refunds will be given provided: 1. The return is made during the add/drop period as established by the Registrar. 2. New books must be in perfect condition. If shrink-wrapped, the seal must not be broken. (DO NOT WRITE OR HIGHLIGHT IN BOOKS UNTIL YOU

ARE CERTAIN YOU WILL BE KEEPING THEM!) 3. Books must be from the current semester. 4. A RECEIPT MUST ACCOMPANY ALL RETURNS.

Dean’s List Outstanding academic achievement will be recognized by the Dean of the College each semester. Students enrolled for 3 or more course units, having a term GPA of at least 3.500 with no grades of D, F, U, or VF for the semester will be eligible for Dean’s List. Students with an incomplete grade or no grade reported will not be eligible for inclusion on the Dean’s List until the work is completed and a final grade is recorded.

FERPA (Family Educational Rights & Privacy Act) In accordance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974, students at Muhlenberg College are entitled to review records, files, documents and other materials containing information directly related to them that are maintained by the College. In accordance with regulations issued by the Secretary of Health, Education and Welfare, students may request a hearing to challenge the content of education records to ensure that the records are not inaccurate, misleading or otherwise in violation of their rights. A student may insert in his or her records a written explanation respecting the contents of such records if suggested corrections or deletions are not made by the College. Additional information may be found in the Office of the Registrar and at muhlenberg.edu/mgt/registrar/.

Harry C. Trexler Library Semester Schedule: Monday – Thursday 8 a.m. – 1 a.m. Friday 8 a.m. – 10 p.m. Saturday 10 a.m. – 7 p.m. Sunday 11 a.m. – 1 a.m. Hours vary during holidays and breaks. Visit the library website at trexler.muhlenberg.edu to view the most up-to-date information.

ID Card and Parking Sticker All Muhlenberg College students are required to obtain an ID card. Applications may be obtained in The Wescoe School office. In addition, we strongly urge all Wescoe students to register their vehicles with Campus Safety by logging into http://arms/parking/. Print your vehicle registration form and submit it to The Wescoe School office to obtain your sticker. The Wescoe parking fee is $10 per academic year.

Incompletes All requests for incomplete grades must be made directly by the student to his/her professor and must specify a compelling reason for failure to complete the course requirements by the end of the term. The student is required to complete and submit the required work within sixty (60) calendar days to prevent conversion of the incomplete to a grade of “F”.

Medical Withdrawals A student must provide medical verification of illness or injury from his/her family physician to the Director of Student Health or Director of Counseling and meet with his/her academic advisor. Both the student and the academic advisor sign the form requesting the withdrawal. If approved, the course instructor will assign a grade of “W”.

Non-Attendance A student who does not attend the first meeting of a course may be dropped from the course in order to make room for students waiting to enroll. Students should not assume, however, that they will be dropped from a course! Non-attendance drops will be processed only at the instructor’s request. All students are responsible for their own enrollment; failure to properly add, drop or withdraw from a course may result in the award of no course units and/or a failing grade.

Students with Disabilities Students with diagnosed disabilities or special needs requiring class accommodations must first contact the Academic Resource Center (484-664-3433), Counseling Services (484-664-3178), or Student Health Services (484-664-3199). This should be done as soon as possible as accommodations are made on a case by case basis and must be requested by the student each semester.

Withdrawal from a Course Students may withdraw from Fifteen Week courses after the add/drop period until the end of the ninth week with the approval of the academic advisor. A “W” grade will be assigned indicating that the student has withdrawn from the course. Consult the Wescoe School Academic Calendar for withdrawal dates for other sessions.

REGISTRATION INSTRUCTIONS

When can I register? We encourage you to REGISTER AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. Registering early works to your advantage in two ways:

1. Seating in courses is on a first-come, first served basis. Don’t wait until it’s too late to get your spot. 2. Courses can be cancelled for lack of enrollment if we don’t know about your interest. We typically need to make decisions of this sort

about two weeks before a course is scheduled to start.

How do I register? Wescoe students may register for classes online by following these easy steps:

1. Meet with your advisor to discuss your course plan for this semester.** 2. Visit muhlenberg.edu/wescoe to view the course schedule and register for classes. 3. Click the “Course Selection” Quick Link at the bottom of the Wescoe homepage to choose classes, log into Capstone and complete your

registration. **Students will not be able to register online without prior approval from an advisor. Students may also register by completing the Enrollment Request Form in the back of this catalog. If you choose this method, you must complete the registration form in full to ensure that we take action on your enrollment exactly as you request. If you need additional forms, you may print copies at muhlenberg.edu/pdf/main/wescoe/EnrollmentRequestupdated5-2012.pdf. Bring your enrollment request form to The Wescoe School. If you can’t make it to campus, you may also fax or mail your request. Reach us by fax at 484-664-3532 and by mail at:

The Wescoe School of Muhlenberg College 2400 Chew Street

Allentown, PA 18104-5586

Keep in mind, all enrollment requests are processed by the Registrar, and your enrollment is not assured until your schedule is available to view in Capstone Online. You will not receive a printed schedule in the mail.
