Week of: 04/13-04/17Theme: Clouds
Hello Families! Each week I will be sending you a document that includes a few stories and different activities that correspond. Illinois State Board of Education is recommending between
20-60 minutes of academic work each day for students ages 3-5. My hope is that you would pick a few activities from this document each day. I would love to see pictures or videos of your
child participating in some fun learning!

Art:
Cloud paintingMix equal amounts of shaving cream and liquid school glue
together in a bowl. Use cotton balls, Q-tips or a paintbrush for painting.
Encourage your child to paint clouds, a picture from one of the
books or anything their imagination can come up with.
It Looked Like…Have your child make a cloud into a shape or picture of their choosing. Cotton balls, torn pieces of white paper or pieces of paper towel, tissue or toilet paper rolled into
small balls can be used to create the picture. Write down your child’s
words about the picture with this starter phrase, “It looked like a… but it was just a cloud.” Encourage your
child to write the word, if they are ready and willing.
Fine Motor:
Child can trace or cut. These can also be created by an adult if you do not have access to a printer.https://www.thekeeperofthememories.com/tracing-weather-preschool-worksheets/
Create a rainbow using paint and Q tips. Allow them to create their own rainbow or place dots on a pre- made rainbow.
Math: Cloud Count!Draw clouds on a piece of paper with a black marker. Write a number inside each cloud. Students count out the corresponding number of cotton balls or objects and place them on each cloud.
Rainbow MathHave your child make a pattern (something that comes in a certain order and repeats) using a package of Skittles, M & M’s, jelly bean, fruit loop cereal, or other colorful snack item. Begin with two colors and have your child take turns repeating the colors to make a simple pattern. Then challenge your child to create a more complex pattern. Have your child count the number of objects in the pattern. (Check out the Skittles pattern cards link. Print them at home or use the pictures for a guide.)
Watch and dance to the videos about patterns!https://safeYouTube.net/w/gGA5https://safeYouTube.net/w/7GA5
Literacy:
Cloud WritingUse shaving cream in the bath or on the counter/table and let your child write letters, numbers, draw shapes and pictures.
ABC’s around the neighborhood
While on a walk looking at the clouds in the sky, go on a letter hunt
too. How many letters of the alphabet can you find? Take a
picture or encourage your child to write down the letters found as you
collect your own alphabet that’s unique to your neighborhood.
