Rules of Recommendations
Who? People you have done business with, colleagues, coworkers (if your company allows it), respectable business connections that you trust.
Why? You had a positive EXPERIENCE with them. (Note: the keyword here is experience.)
How? Concise and correct accolades. Keep it to 3 lines when possible. Here is an example:
Offer Value: People need to have a reason to take you up on an offer- what will that be?
Give things away (especially information)
Don’t overpower people with too many updates

Connect to people you have met or who are relevant to your professional network. Do not pick up dead weight.
Sure, we could all have 1,000 connections by randomly linking to people we don’t know.
