In aoaordence with your request that you be turniahed the reaul ta ot our continuing studies on the western end of Fair Point Peninsula, Santa Rosa County, I am pleAsed tn transmit herewith the following:

1. Hydrogra~s showing the •an daily water leTel in well Sante. Rosa 102 from January 1952 to October 19~ and the ohlortde oontent ot water from the Santa Rosa leland Authority Supply .Vall No. 2.

2. An Ulustration ahcYwing the maximum and llliaimull obserTed atagea ot the water table and the ohlortde content of water samples oollected tram the teet wells.

3. Table showing the mnnthly rainfall and the 4eparturea from normal at Pensaet la from 1anuary through cleptemter 1954.

'lhe hydrographs show that the water leTel in Santa Rosa 102 (old nWIIber T-7) reached both 1 ts highest and lowest obserTed leYels during tile first 10 months of 1954. 'lhe water leTel stood about '1.:5 teet above sea l&Tel early in January. Since that time the water leTel hu declined more than 5 teet to a height aboTe sea leTel of about l.S teet. Tbe cruse of this deoline is primarily attributable to low rainfall which, e.a ll&y be seen from the encloaed tabla, was 26.37 1 ches below normal for the period from 1anuary through veptember.

'lbe clllori ·e cnntent of water from supply well No. 2 of the S8ltta Rosa IslAnd Authority has been inserted on the hydrogrnpha. A comparison ot the analyses made by this office in 1953 and 1954 with those made ln 19 50 show that there has been no detec~able change in chloride oontent in the vicinity of the supply wells. In f Ret, As may be seen on the hydro raphs, t he only ~n~yses t hat have shown a signifionnt change in chloride conten t a::-e those tha t were made by the St ate Board ot Health i n 1952. The increase in chloride content in late 1952 is difficult

to ezplain, e8J)eoial.l7 1n v1• ot the ta~ that there hu u 7et been no inoreue 1n ahlorida content this year as a result ot the reooi'Cl low water leYela.

A. stud7 ot thla table shows that, with the exception nt wll T-1, theN baa beea no detectable ahange 1n ahlorlde oontent between late 19150 and Ootober 19M. '!he lnoreaae 1n the Glllori :e oontent ot water trom well T-1 la probably due to an enaroaCJhllent ot M& watu resultiDC trom the abnormall7 low water leYela. After the present drought ends 8Zld the we.ter-table HOOTers, the treeh water ln the aqaiter can be expected to push the salty water book to ita original position.

I hope the enal.osuree a d thct abaTe discussion are ot uae to 70'1 1n ,our work. It I oan turn1ah you adell t1onal information at 8ll1 t1• please let me kDDw.
