Eligibility criteria

EBSQ Examination in Breast Surgery The exam

Written and Oral part

• The written examination:

50 MCQs with 5 alternative answers

"best of five", no penalty points for wrong answers

• The oral examination:

three 20-30 min tasks: 2 clinical case discussions

and evaluation of a clinical research paper

• Only those who pass the written examination

are allowed to attend the oral examination

• Limit to pass: 60% (60/100 points), Calculation system

EBSQ Examination in Breast Surgery Major problem: Cost of the exam !!!

Problem

- Cost of the exams - Difficulty to cover examiners’ travel expenses (2 examiners for each station in the “oral”) - Currently: EBSQ exam in conjunction with major congresses (EBCC, ESSO) - examiners are selected among those who attend the congress or have their travel cost covered (e.g. speakers)

Proposal

• Supporting National Societies of Breast Surgeons to provide “examiners”, covering their traveling expenses • Separate written from the oral exam: written exam in certain European Universities simultaneously.

- Only those who “pass” the written exam will travel to take the oral exam - Possibility to have candidates from all Sections of Surgery Divisions
