“There are several benefits on preparing your tweets. First, it’ll give you enough time to draft your best answers and keep them well within the 140-character limit. Plus, you’ll be able to share them with your team for review, if necessary. Also, by preparing your answers early, you will have more time during the actual chat to engage as your brand.

List all of your answers in a handy Word doc, making sure to include the Twitter chat’s hashtag.”

“Brand engagement doesn’t have to end when the scheduled Twitter chat does. That’s one of the best things about Twitter chats being archived by hashtags.

Search the hashtag to find out what and whom you missed. Follow and thank the host and guests; follow the other participants and influencers from the chat as well. Also, retweet and respond to some of the messages you may have missed.”

“With the goal of lead generation in mind, be sure that you update your Twitter profile appropriately before the chat.

For example, if you’re a social media expert who is going to be a guest talking about Facebook, include a link in your Twitter bio that takes new followers from the chat to your Facebook services page, book or product.”

“As the guest of a Twitter chat, you can expect to gain lots of new followers during the chat as well as if/when the host writes a recap with the highlights of the chat. You might even get some business leads from people who find out how knowledgeable you are about your topic during the chat.

The more often you participate in a specific Twitter chat, the more relationships you form and the more recognition you gain in your industry.”

“If increasing the number of followers is one of your goals, then join a twitter chat regularly. You would notice a spike of  “new followers” every time you are actively engaged in one. This is a fact that those active in Twitter chats would be able to confirm.

Of course, you can look for followers on Twitter, but with chats, they find you. You see, engagement attracts followers.”

“To host a Twitter chat, you simply need a Twitter handle, a hashtag, which is simply a dedicated hyperlinked keyword with the “#” in front of it and a pre-determined date and time.

Aside from the time invested in planning and promoting them, Twitter chats are free on Twitter to do. Twitter chats are a great way to have an organized conversation between a business and consumers on Twitter.”

“They can be a great way to engage with customers and ask about their needs and wants and to announce a new product or service your company maybe offering.

Twitter chats can be very effective in building brand loyalty on your products or services but they need to be marketed ahead of time … a spur of the moment Twitter chat probably won’t get the biggest following.”

MY TAKE:

“A lot of marketers complain that not enough people seem to be interested in signing up as their subscribers on their sites, but if you think about, the participants of Tweet chats are no less than “subscribers to a hashtag that is valuable to your brand”.

You may not have them on your “emailing and newsletter list” but surely you can have them on your Twitter-handle lists that you can engage with regular short conversations? Why is a co-Tweet-chatter any less than a site-subscriber in terms of contact value?”
