WRITING TASK (7)
Here is Point 7 of our weekly writing tasks series*:
“Respond first to the content and ideas and process of the writing. [e.g. "I liked the way you described … What were you
trying to do? At the beginning, I felt …. What did you want the reader to feel? Tell me a bit more about … What came easily and where did you stop and refine? What might you
work on next in your writing?"].
*These points are taken from Wrigley, S: National Writing Project (NWP), National Association for the Teaching of English (NATE):
http://www.nwp.org.uk/1/category/national%20curriculum/1.html
This weekend, can you set up an opportunity for your
child/ren to sit and talk to you about what they have
written (as above), and then enjoy the results?
Thank you for helping us to improve the standard of writing at St Francis Catholic Primary School.

Junior Leadership Team Walsall Advertiser
The JLT’s educational visit to the Mayor’s
Parlour last week was reported in the
Mayor’s column in last night’s Walsall
Advertiser. Congratulations to all
concerned.
JLT interviews
This week, following a successful
interview, Sam Whittern was appointed
to the post of Junior Deputy Head
Teacher. The plan is that, next year,
when he is in Year 6, he will become the
next Junior Head Teacher.
Many congratulations to Sam.
Next week, we will let you know which
pupil candidates are successful in being
appointed to the new ‘Art’ and
‘Computing & ICT’ roles in the JLT.
Interviews for the school’s new (adult) Head
Next Tuesday, members of the Junior Leadership Team will help to interview for the school’s new substantive (adult)
Head Teacher. They will have a timetabled slot in which to ask all of the
candidates’ questions about their suitability for this crucially important
post.
We will let you know the outcome of these two-day interviews, next week.
PiXL update On Wednesday 26th November the PiXL core group attended a conference in Leeds. The meeting focussed on reviewing how the PiXL sessions are being run and how future developments could be incorporated to ensure maximum impact and progress for our children. The group have come away with new ideas and renewed enthusiasm as to how to make this happen. Following the second round of assessments, we hope to be able to see what progress has been made. This will then be shared with the PiXL children through their PLC’s (personal learning checklist).

MUFTI DAY Thank you to everyone who dressed up as a Roald Dahl
character in aid of the Church Christmas Fayre today.
Children – and their parents – had taken great care to
plan and make their costumes. We had impressive Giant
Peaches, Oompa-loompas, and Charlies at school today.
Mrs Charles’s costume was amazing, too!
We will let you know next week how much the MUFTI
Day raised for the fund.
CHURCH & SCHOOL CHRISTMAS FAYRE You are all very welcome to come along to the annual
Christmas Fayre on Friday 5th December between
5.30pm and 7.30 pm at the school.
There will be stalls, raffles, Christmas crafts and bric-a-
brac, all in a festive atmosphere.
A big thank you to Mrs Moseley and the school and
church team for making the arrangements.
MY MATHS Unfortunately the password for access to My
