This is the time of year we count our blessings for the good fortune we have. As elks we continue to do what we do best.... give back to the community. I was overwhelmed with the number of gifts we collected at the Christmas party. Some gifts were distributed at the children's Christmas party which always puts a smile on faces of all ages. Santa arrived by train conducted by Jake and engineered by Chuck. Thank you Rob for your DJ talents and to our very own Santa John. I am always awed by the outreach of generosity our lodge shows for those less fortunate. This collection of items was distributed to over 100 children and their families who would not have been able to celebrate this holiday season without our help. Thanks Lori and her team of elves for all the hard work you put into this outreach program. Santa couldn't have done it better himself. There was a memorial service at Tri-City in early December. This was a well attended event and a great honor for all members who have passed on this year. Thank you to Bob Hartington for arranging the musical talents of his son. It was a wonderful tribute to our absent members. Many came to celebrate our annual members Christmas Party. Thank you Mark for providing a wonder menu, and to Bob and Ann for their service. There are countless people who help to make events like this possible. No one person can successfully run this lodge, a team of great support is always needed and appreciated even though recognition is not always given. I would personally like to thank everyone for the effort they have given me this past year. I couldn't have done this position without you. The December meeting brought in three new members. We welcome them and hope they take advantage of the many opportunities Tri-City has to offer. My suggestion to them and all other card carrying members is to get involved. Find what you love about our lodge and ask how you can help. Many hands make light work. As elks and brothers we need to work together to make great things happen. January brings new beginnings. We will be having a game dinner with tickets available at the bar. This is a great event and a wonderful way to experience cuisines you may never have had before. Come try some wild game and fellowship with brother elks. Happy Healthy New Year! 2017 will bring great things to all! Fraternally yours, David Knight Exalted Ruler

SECRETARY’S MESSAGE

Hello All! Happy New Year to all! We hope everyone had a Happy and Healthy Holiday Season and hope to see you in Lodge soon. We have initiated 49 new members since April 1 and have 12 more waiting for the 2nd January Meeting to become members. Keep those applications rolling in. We are number one in new members for Rhode Island and would like to keep that distinction. On a more somber note, we still have 58 members who have not paid their 2016/2017 dues. They will be receiving their final notice the middle of this month before we are forced to drop them by Grand Lodge. We are hopeful that many of them will respond positively. Bringing up the subject of Dues, notices will go out the beginning of February and there is a fifty cent increase due to the Grand Lodge increase in Per Capita. Upcoming events at Tri-City Elks January 22, Game Dinner $35.00 pp You may purchase your tickets at the bar. This event usually sells out fast so buyer beware. THANK YOU

Kids Christmas party was held on Sunday 12/18/16. Thank you to all the volunteers that helped to decorate, set up the hall for the children, cook, serve food and dessert and the clean up. Santa John Flaxington was great with Elk helpers Tina Bertrand and our new member Donna Bresse. The children enjoyed the talented balloon Elf Amy along with a special candy grab. A tablecloth was put on the floor and filled with candy. The kids had bags available to fill and take home with them. They had a blast. I would like to extend a special thank you to Santa’s Train Express with Chuck Holm as the engineer and Jake Holm as the conductor. It was another great day at our lodge. A SPECIAL THANK YOU

We made up the food baskets on Friday night, again thank you for helping with the filling of 60 food baskets and adding toys for the kids for St. Rita’s and for the families that needed our help this season. Thank you for all of you that supported our Holiday Cheer Toy Program. The lodge adopted a local family with a member with medical problems. There are 5 children in the family. We were able to give the 3 oldest children each a bike along with toys, one of our new members donated clothing, diapers and more toys. All were greatly appreciated. The Mom stopped in to thank us and to say that her husband had come home for Christmas.
