As I write this I am amazed at how quickly the summer has gone by. It seems like just yesterday we were preparing for the Tiki and Awards night celebration. A fabulous time was had by all. I am always amazed at the number of dedicated Elks we have here at Tri-City. Polo shirts, awards, and T-shirts were handed out to numerous amounts of dedicated supporters of Elkdom. Kudos to Charlene, Sam and Mike for the delicious food and desserts. It's because of people like you that events like this are possible. The 365 Outing was held at the Masonic Youth Center in Buttonwoods. This is an annual event that over 1200 special needs people are able to come, eat, enjoy music and receive several prizes at absolutely no cost. It is amazing what a difference a penny a day can do when Elks from across the state work together for the greater good. This event would not be possible without countless volunteers. Tri-City lead the way with 57 volunteers, thank you Mark for a job well done! It was a great day for Elkdom. I would like to personally thank my officers for a spectacular job during the State Visitation and installation of 9 new members. You ritual work was outstanding, and the State President and his suite of officers were impressed with Tri-City. Thank you for making me look good. Now that summer is coming to an end we will be back to meetings twice a month on the 1 and 3 Wednesday of the month. Let's keep our momentum going with continued new members joining and growing Tri-City to new heights. Tickets are available for our Grand Exalted Ruler, Michael Zellen's visit to Coventry-West Greenwich lode #2285 on Monday September 26, 2016. Please see me for tickets, $20.00 per person, dinner reception in Business Attire. Our new deck is well underway. Footings are poured, steal is drilled and the framework should be erected by next weekend. We are hoping to be up and running by the end of September. Stop by and see the progress. Raffles have been going on throughout the summer to raise money for deck furniture and we are looking pretty good. I'm hoping the chairs are comfortable, I plan on spend a lot of time there. Before we know the leaves will be changing colors and activities will be moving indoors. But we are holding on to the beautiful weather as long as we can here at Tri-City. We still have a Pig Roast scheduled for September and a Steak Fry in October. Let's enjoy the outdoors as long as we can, celebrating at the Tiki Bar and, fingers crossed breaking in the new deck that is already well on its way to being the best spot to relax in the city of Warwick. Fraternally yours, David Knight Exalted Ruler
