Welcome to the 2016 Worcestershire’sHeritage Garden

Events Diary

Sponsored by

Our aim is to provide you with a diary full of festivals and events throughout 2016, ranging from the weird and wonderful to the internationally acclaimed. It’s not just events the area has to offer, you will also be spoilt for choice when it comes to award winning accommodation, shopping, gardens and garden centres, historical buildings, galleries and beautiful walks to name just a few.

Perhaps you have seen the area and our events on TV this year? With outstanding coverage on programmes such as Terry and Mason’s Food Trip, Escape to the Country and My Life on a Plate featuring Alistair McGowan, the media coverage is valued to be in excess of £3 million, and with a total of 3.9 million trips made to the Wychavon area every year bringing in an outstanding £178 million to the local economy – this has just GOT to be the place to visit…. So don’t delay put a date in YOUR diary today…..

The year starts with the return of the renowned Spring Blossom Trail, guided by an official AA signed route. Providing opportunities to explore the Vale of Evesham through it’s blossom filled orchards into some of the most delightful villages that the area has to offer; along with the Vale’s breath-taking views it creates an enchanting day out for all the family.

Between April and June the Vale of Evesham celebrates its association with ‘gras’ as it hosts a variety of events all celebrating the delicacy that is asparagus. Commencing on the 23 April, St George’s Day and finishing on 21 June, these two months are full to the brim of asparagus related events.

Droitwich Spa brings together a combination of the best local food and drink in celebration as it hosts its Food and Drink Festival on the 18 and 19 June.

Starting almost 20 years ago, the renowned Plum Festival returns to the beautiful town of Pershore consuming the town in all things purple and plummy.

The festival’s mixture of quirky and unique events and activities allows it to accommodate the whole family providing entertainment for everyone. A triple winner of Worcestershire’s Best Festival and Event award and recently nominated once again; the Pershore Plum Festival is definitely a spectacle to behold and an event not to be missed!

Why not join us in Droitwich Spa in September to celebrate the towns association with salt at the annual Salt Festival on the 10 and 11 September. There will be heritage displays, Roman re-enactments, live music and entertainment, stalls and much more to see and do.

If this has whetted your appetite for this year there are plenty more interesting and exciting events and attractions to be found within the pages of this Events Diary. We are certain that there will be something on offer to satisfy all your entertainment needs.

Why not turn that one off day trip into a spontaneous getaway by extending your stay in Worcestershire’s Heritage Garden to experience the very best the area has to offer! Visit our website www.visitwychavon.com where you can find a variety of accommodation within the area which caters for all budgets.

Keep an eye out for events with this symbol. They will provide great entertainment for all the kids!

You are sure to find something to do bursting from the pages of the 2016 Worcestershire’s Heritage Garden Events Diary. This diary aims to

showcase the diversity that the district of Wychavon has to offer providing a vast array of events ensuring that there is truly something for everyone

to enjoy. Whether it’s an established festival or one of our new and exciting events 2016 will be a year to remember with our feature events

becoming the highlight of the year for many people.

The 2016 Worcestershire’s Heritage Garden Events Diary welcomes Webbs, Wychbold back for another year as it’s official sponsor. We would like to thank them for their continued support and congratulate them on their success throughout the years. Webbs, which is situated near Droitwich Spa, in the heart of Worcestershire, remains to this day a family run business with a fantastic reputation as one of the leading national horticultural centres and as a leading regional tourist attraction.

Webbs offers a relaxing day out with their inspirational gardens, extensive garden centre and their fully licensed, air conditioned restaurant providing a choice of food using local produce to suit all tastes. In addition the brand new pets and aquatics

department and year round events means that Webbs are sure to provide a fun day out and will once again attract thousands of visitors in 2016.
