Events Diary - adding emphasis
Feature chosen events
The need to emphasise
Remember: this Events Diary contains no 'categories' Some events can be judged 'important' by you and you can emphasise their existence by: • Highlighting them in the Diary• Making them appear on the Home Page and other traffic
areas
What is more, you can: • Do this very easily and intuitively• Do it in 3 different places• Do it on event creation, or whenever it suits you
Three ways to edit emphasis
1. as you create or edit individual events2. as you create a series of events3. in listing review mode when you apply filters
Examples:
1.Check the box when you add or edit a single event
2. When first creating a series ...
3. By (un)clicking on the stars in review mode.i.e. there is no need to edit an event to change status
Adding emphasis
The resulting emphasis can be seen in 2 places
1. All Diary views (this week, this month etc)– Panels on traffic areas, home page etc
Examples:
Diary view showing featured events ...
Featured events appear on home page panel. Ooops many 'Music in the park' events for July? So hide
them for a while ...
Remove some stars for a while...
Home page panel looks better ...
Key Takeaway Points
This Events Diary has no "categories"
Adding and removing emphasis is very easy to do
Each event/day is a separate entry(!)
You can change highlight the first day of an exhibition and possibly change its title, no need to highlight every single day
You can add emphasis just a few days before it takes place Promote your own events, or those the council is funding
Don't overuse emphasis, keep it a secret as long as you can(!)
