PARISH PASTORAL COUNCIL

The church teaches that councils are not parish forums or sounding boards. Rather, Pastors consult councils so that they might benefit from the council’s work of study, reflection and recommending conclusions. Criteria for Membership Pastoral council members are chosen, above all, for their ability to accomplish the main task of the council – the work of investigating, considering and recommending practical conclusions. They are baptized Catholics, in good standing with the church, who reflect the parishes various neighborhoods, social and professional groups, and apostolates. Finally, they are parishioners noted for their faith, good morals and prudence. Selection of Members Twelve pastoral council members are elected every three years. I would ask that you give me the names of those who would work well for the overall progress of our parish. Records The secretary keeps the minutes at each meeting held. Ensuring that they are sent out to all parishioners to let them know what was discussed and recommended for the parish.

Note: We will meet with the new council Wednesday July 26 at 7:00pm in the Parish Hall.

PASTORAL COUNCIL PRAYER

We stand before You, Holy Spirit, conscious of our sinfulness but willing to serve, aware that You have called us and that we gather in Your Name. Come to us, remain with us, and enlighten our hearts. Give us understanding and perseverance to know Your Will, along with the strength and courage to make Your Will our own. Guide us by Your Wisdom as we seek to discern the vision You have for our parish and how You are calling us to serve. Unite us in the love of Jesus Christ and keep us faithful to all that is true. As we gather in your name, help us to treat one another with love and respect that our discussions and reflections may help us earn the reward promised to good and faithful servants. We ask this of You who lives and reigns with the Father and the Son, one God, forever and ever. Amen.
