WE NEED YOUR HELP!

We are in need of more help to bring Communion to our

Homebound. You do not have to be an EME (Extraordinary

Minister of the Eucharist) to participate in this ministry. There is

a schedule. Small pyx are available in the sacristy to carry the

Body of Christ to those who are unable to come to Church. If

you would be willing to say “yes” to this work, please call

Mary O’Connell or e-mail her at [email protected]. We,

and our homebound, need you! Thank you!

ST. BERNARD’S GIFT GIVING CLUB

July – CHILDREN’S BOOKS

Let’s help all children enjoy reading, or being read to, with your donations of new or gently used children’s books. Your “gifts” will be delivered to: OUR NEXT GENERATION, INC. This organization “makes a difference in the lives of urban youth.” If your generosity allows, we will divide up and deliver your “gifts” to food pantries and shelters in the Milwaukee area that serve children. Please, children’s books only! Please place your items in the baskets on the pews in the back of Church. Thank you!

It’s summer! Are you hearing your children say,

“Mom, what can we do today?”

Well, here’s an idea on how to show His Way to your children. Explain to your little ones (and teenagers) why we are doing this work of mercy for those who have so little. Then have them pick a favorite book from their own home library collection or take them to the store on a special shopping trip to pick out a book for someone their own age and donate it. Let them put it in the basket in Church. A fun project? They may surprise even you!

“Train up a child in the way he should go; and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” (Proverbs 22:6)

Books Purchased With Scrip.

And always remember you can help St. Bernard’s by purchasing scrip. We carry cards for Barnes & Noble, Target, Amazon.com, Walmart/Sam’s Club and some other stores that sell books.

PARISH OFFICE CLOSED

WEDNESDAY JULY 4TH.

TOSA TRIO HIGH SCHOOL YOUTH MINISTRY

Remember always, God is Love, and God is In Control! As I begin retirement from the Ministry I have loved and been blessed to serve, I am enjoying reviewing pictures, palanca notes, Thank-You Messages, God-incidences, and Holy Spirit moments. I have been

surrounded by volunteers that place their faith in God and grow in their faith along with the teens. Thank You to so many people who said their “YES” to Tosa Trio Youth Ministry! Hope to see you at a “Mass with Class” or home parish Mass in the future… Thank You for the lovely reception that was held at St. Pius X on June 24th. Many visitors and happy memories recalled!

A warm welcome to Sarah Daszczuk! I know Sarah through ARISE and WYRE ministries…Sarah’s Love for the Eucharist will be shining through!

PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING FOR FREEDOM

Freedom is enshrined in our US Constitution. The First

Amendment of our constitution protects our freedom of

speech. However, our speech may not infringe upon

another's freedom. Freedom does have its limits. And we

must protect everyone's freedoms, not just ours. On this

4th of July, let us remember from whom all our freedoms

originate, our good and gracious God.

Let us pray...

God, giver of all good gifts,

Help us to be thankful for rest and food,

and remember that, in all we do or say,

you are with us, here this day.

We are thankful for all you do

and for everything you have given us.

But above all we are thankful for our freedoms

and the ability to protect others' freedom.

We are free because of you.

We ask for your continued blessing on all your creation.

Through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen.

THE CATHOLIC FAITH ON DEMAND

FORMED.ORG—Parish Code: DCZQ7T

Try it out!

At the end of February we had a surplus of $59,062 on our Statement of Activity. But during these past four months Envelope Collections received have been less than the amount budgeted for each of those 4 months. To date we have received $31,438 for the month of June and we budgeted to receive $43,899.70. While the books are not officially “closed” yet for 2017-2018, it is pretty certain that most of the surplus we had at the end of February will be gone. Summer is a tough time for churches, as we still have bills and staff to pay while the contributions often drop during the summer months when cash reserves are at their lowest. Please help the parish by keeping your contributions flowing and your pledges current this coming fiscal year.

STEWARDSHIP

MASS INTENTIONS

or celebrating special occasions

can be brought to the Lord’s table

by requesting your Mass intention for a particular day.

intention. The customary offering is $10.00. These

offerings go to a parish Mass stipend account and then

turned over to the parish as the Mass intentions are

fulfilled.
