As salaam alaikum – Peace be unto you!
Dear Reader

On Tuesday 1 August the Black Community are beingmobilised to take part in the Afrikan Reparations March. When Black people unite around a cause bigger than anyindividual, can their demands for freedom, justice andequality have weight and substance. Unity can give Blackpeople the strength and recognition needed to repel thedaily attacks from our open enemies, by way of their socialand economic injustices.
Reparations is not only about marching one day a yearthrough the streets of London. It is so much more than that.Reparations is an ongoing process. Throughout the yearthere is much work going on in the UK and worldwide. Themarch on 1 August is a reminder that Reparations must beat the forefront of the hearts and minds of oppressedpeople. To present our petition to the UK governmentcharging them with genocide, and to galvanise Blackpeople into action. We must all play our part and show theworld how united we are by showing our strength innumbers on 1 August.
We all have a responsibility to spread the campaign amongfamily, friends and colleagues. You can help support theReparations movment by attending the march, making adonation, attending the meetings held in your areathroughout the year. Black people are the only ones whocan save themselves. Our open enemies prove to useveryday that they do not love us, nor can they help us.The Honourable Elijah Muhammad teaches us that wemust ‘do for self.’
We call on all Brothers and Sisters, young and old,Christian, and Muslim, Pan-Afrikanist and Rastafari, professionals and our street organisers to take part, toswell our numbers on the day of the march and to continuethe campaign in your neighbourhoods with your family andfriends during the year.
As we grow in numbers we must become organised anddisciplined. We can only achieve this when we are workingtogether for our own future.

Minister Louis Farrakhan
Message From A UnitedCommunity Iftar: A Problem In The
West Only Allah Could SolveThe following article contains edited remarks delivered20 June 2017 at Muhammad University of Islamfollowing prayers and an “Iftar,” breaking of the fast ofRamadan. Over 800 men, women and children fromdiverse communities and schools of thought in theChicago gathered on the grounds of the NationalCentre, international headquarters of the Nation ofIslam at the invitation of the Honourable Minister LouisFarrakhan for an evening of worship, fellowship andcultural exchange commemorating the revelation ofthe Islamic book of scripture — the Holy Qur’an toProphet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him). Theevening was observed as the Night of Power, one ofthe special last 10 nights during the month of fastingand prayer.)
AsSalaam Alaikum. In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful, we give Him praise and thanks for HisProphets and Messengers and the scriptures which theybrought. As Muslims, we make no distinction among Allah’sservants. We thank Allah for each of them, and we thankAllah for what they have done for the human family. We arethe last to receive though Prophet Muhammad, Peace beupon him, gave Islam to the world through this book,Qur’an.
Yet, the Western Hemisphere was not discovered and itgrew up in a rebellious kind of way that’s contrary to thelaw of God and the law of Islam.
So we were brought out of Africa, many of us wereMuslims, but we were denied the right to know our history, our language, our culture, our religion and our God. And Ithank Allah for the early Muslims who came here and triedto teach us Islam, but they did not understand the conditionthat 310 years of chattel slavery had produced in us and150 years of living under Jim Crow segregation andinjustice. So we have been made into a people that have aproblem that only Allah could solve for us. And just as Allahhas been merciful to every nation, as the Qur’an says,
“every nation has received a messenger.” But here wewere in America, in the bowels of a beast deprived and thatis why we thank Allah, we know Allah, the Originator of theHeavens and the Earth who has no partners. He is one, indivisible but Allah cares for this human family, and wehave been the lost members of our people so we wouldn’tbe here today if Allah had not intervened in our affairs.
The Honourable Elijah Muhammad
Somebody came after us. He was an Arab but he broughtus a book. He found Elijah Muhammad. He gave him anArabic Qur’an and he said, “Read.” But Elijah Muhammadsaid, as Prophet Muhammad said 1,400 years ago, “I can’tread.”
He didn’t know how to. He said “read.” He said it 3 times. Finally, he gave Elijah Muhammad the MaulanaMuhammad Ali translation of the Holy Qur’an, and he likedthat translation more than the Yusef Ali translation becausethis Muhammad Ali translation always uses the name Allahrather than God.
What Elijah Muhammad was attempting to do was to putAllah in our consciousness and he has done that. And Iwanted to say to this wonderful gathering of wonderfulMuslims from all over Chicago and different parts of theworld, I want to personally thank you for the honour thatyou gave to us tonight to be here at our invitation. Becauseof my illness, unfortunately, I grieve because I can’t doRamadan like I want to do Ramadan. So this is my effort atredemption.
I want to thank all of you who cooked. I want to thank theNile Restaurant. I want to thank everybody who served. Iwant to thank Imam Sultan Rahman Muhammad andBrother Minister Ishmael Muhammad and all of the staff forarranging to bring all of our family together to celebrate theLife of Prophet Muhammad, Peace Be Upon Him, andthank Allah for him, through whom this mighty book wasrevealed.
The Star & Crescent Ezine August 2017: Issue 28thestarandcrescent19.wordpress.com 3
Imam Sultan Rahman Muhammad
If there were no Prophet Muhammad, then we might nothave had this Qur’an. So now that we have this Qur’an, weneeded a teacher. We needed a teacher that understoodour condition. We have never been racist but we havesuffered under white people and we cannot deny that theyhave not been our friends. They have been our worstenemy. That doesn’t mean all of them but their work on ushas been the work of Shaitan (the Devil).
Student Minister Ishmael Muhammad
So I had a few things I wanted to say. Our world is indifficulty, but right on this stage there are Muslims that havehad disagreements with the Nation of Islam. But we havenever shed the blood of one another even though ourdifferences were real. Our disagreements were real but thelove that Allah put in our hearts would not permit us to shedthe blood of a fellow Believer, even though we thought wewere on a different path, but the root of us would not allowus to shed each other’s blood. That is why the HolyProphet, Peace Be Upon Him, said “that the light of Islamwould rise in the West and shine back toward the East.”We are your example today.
What kind of an example is this. Black, Brown, Red, Yellowand White all together as a family? Islam will prove that it isthe only religion that can bring every member of the humanfamily into oneness. So the light that shined from the Eastto the West is going out, but the light in the West is growingbrighter and brighter and fuller. We will cause aresurrection of true Islam, not people who pray but areunmindful of what they say. Not people who have anoutward show of Islam but what Islam really is is not
demonstrated in their hearts and the way we deal with oneanother.
And let me say this about Elijah Muhammad today. He toldme, and some of you heard him, that Master FardMuhammad gave him 104 books to study, and the best ofthose books he said was this one, The Holy Qur’an. Heargued with many scholars. They brought many books. Heonly brought one, The Holy Qur’an. This is the book with allthe best arguments. This is the book that will settle theproblems that human beings are suffering from today. ButSatan has come into the straight path of God as he said hewould do — and he’s caused practically the whole Muslimworld to deviate from the prophet, deviate from his Sunnah, deviate from this book.
President Donald Trump’s recent state visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
Scholars take the Qur’an and put it behind their backs. Howcan you lead the people when this book is the light and youput it behind your back? Satan — well I don’t want to put itjust like that but — Mr Donald Trump visited our Holy Land.He never saw such splendor. I know he’s a man that loveswealth but he could forget it. When he landed in Riyadh, and some of us have had the pleasure of landing in Riyadh, the airport is beyond your wildest imagination. And to be inthe palace, which we were blessed to be in that palace inRiyadh, with the King Abdullah, not King Fahd.
Mecca is now spending, Arabia is spending over $100billion on war material and building a centre in Meccaagainst extremism. We went there to Mecca and we said tothe scholars, “We need to build here a Centre for ConflictResolution.” Why would we allow Mr Trump to come intoour Holy Land and get all of the Sunni Believers togetheragainst the Shi’ite? War was dripping from his lips, deception and deceit, and we treated him like God hadcome to Arabia.
Now, the clouds of war are gathering over our Holy Land.War materials that America supplies are being usedagainst the Houthi in Yemen. Qatar, which we had visited, rich and powerful, feeding ISIS and feeding AlQaida withmoney. That world today is no example for us. Meccaneeds to be warned but who will do it?
I stood in Medina at the grave of the Holy ProphetMuhammad, and with tears running down my eyes, I
The Star & Crescent Ezine August 2017: Issue 28thestarandcrescent19.wordpress.com 4
begged Allah, “Give me a double portion of the spirit thatyou gave to your servant, Prophet Muhammad, that wemay complete his work in the Western Hemisphere.” We’renot out here taking money. Our work is the resurrection ofour people and the dissemination of the faith. What kind ofMuslims are we if we pray in the masjid, and fast, and walkby the ignorant and leave them in their ignorance? We arethe ones that have to wake the people up with Islam.
In this Qur’an, after we read in Surah 2 about “fasting,” thenext thing we read is “fighting in the defence of Islam.” Ihave to say this. The Holy Prophet, Peace Be Upon Him,and the early followers went through what we are goingthrough right now. When he said, “Lailaha illallah,” theQuraish did not like that. So the early Muslims werepersecuted. Some were killed for saying AllahuAkbar. Sowe stand on them. Many Muslims died so we could havethe right to say: AsSalaam Alaikum. So we can’t take thatgreeting for just a word that we say to each other that hasno meaning.
The companions of the Prophet, the early Sahaba, theirlife, their death, their blood, their tears are wrapped up inthe greeting words. That’s why we have a Qur’an to look attoday because men died and women dressed like men tofight. They were not cowardly women and they would killany of the soldiers who turned their back and fled. That’sour history. Our masjids are under attack. Our Sisterswearing their hijab and some evil people snatch it from theirheads and attack them and kill them. What is ourresponse? Who will we appeal to for the dignity of ourMuslim Sisters? If the appeal can’t touch us as men, thenwe lay down our lives for our women and girls who are boldenough and brave enough to put a hijab on or a headpieceon and walk the streets of America.
Now, I’m going to say some things that may appear radicalbut we have to wake up. We must defend the houses ofworship. If it’s a synagogue and somebody wants to writeor put a swastika on it, what is our duty as Muslims? No,not to kill them. No, we don’t kill them. That’s a teachablemoment. It just depends on what book you’re going toteach them out of.
There were some of the helpers of the Prophet in Medinaand one of the new converts urinated in the mosque. Andthey ran and told the Prophet that savage over hereurinated in the mosque. The Companions were so angrythey wanted to move on him and give him a good whipping. The Prophet said, oh, brother, just take some water andwash it down and teach him the respect of the masjid andhe’ll do better. We are the teachers today. All of you. All ofus. We have to teach civilization to a savage world. Wehave to represent higher civilization to a world that is goingmad.
Allah says in the Qur’an, “And fight in the way of Allahagainst those who fight against you but be not aggressive.Surely Allah loves not the aggressors.” Oh, but this nextAyat (Verse) is tough. Allah says, “And kill them whereveryou find them.” Now, you know there are some that want toretranslate the Qur’an now. “And drive them out from wherethey drove you out and persecution is worse than
slaughter. And fight not with them at the sacred mosqueuntil they fight you in it. So if they fight you in it, slay them.”That’s the Qur’an.
Now, you that want a milktoast Qur’an. You want a Qur’anthat you can pacify your enemies with? Then change thatand say, “And love them wherever you find them. Andinvite them in after they drove you out.” See, we’ve becomerevisionists because we want friendship with an enemy ofGod. And so I said, “boy, this is a tough scripture right afterRamadan.”
Ramadan is a fast that we may guard against evil but theseare peaceful people. The Muslims in America are some ofthe finest citizens that America has. You bother nobody. You go to your masjid, you say your prayers, you look afteryour families. You go to your profession and you add toAmerica. But today the climate is such that all you have todo is wear a kufi or wear a hijab, put on your robe, “ahthat’s one of them.” One of the Sisters said but I’m going totake my hijab off because it seems like when I put it on,they attack me so I’m going to take mine off so they don’trecognize that I’m a Muslim. My dear Sisters, you keepyour hijab on.
My dear Sisters, be the strong Muslim women that you are.But to the men, to the men. Somebody snatches a MuslimSister’s hijab off, what should we do, pray? Come on now.You said your prayers. It’s time then to let the world knowhow we respect our women and their righteousness. Whenthe persecution was heaviest in Arabia, it forced theMuslims to take up arms. Otherwise, Islam would havebeen crushed and we wouldn’t be here today unless Allahpleased and came another way.
But Prophet Muhammad and those with him wereBelievers. They put their complete trust in Allah. ElijahMuhammad said to me before he left us, he said, “I cannotpromise you that you won’t get a hickey on your head. Icannot promise you won’t end up in jail. I cannot promiseyou that some of us will not lose our lives. But the one thingthat I can promise you is. Victory.”
Allah did not make us Muslims for us to be unsuccessful.Allah did not make us Muslims for us to cow down in frontof tyranny. Every masjid now should be awake and alert. When it’s time for prayer, some watch while others pray.Isn’t that what the Holy Prophet said? Now come on. Someput their weapons down for prayer but others kept theirweapons. I’m not saying you should go get weapons.
Your greatest weapon is your faith. We have never asstudents and followers of the Elijah Muhammad put ourtrust in carnal weapons. And the police attacked ourmosques, not once, not twice, several times. But what didwe do? We fought them in the Name of Allah. Some of usdied. Some of them died. But in the end, Islam must beestablished in America.
I think every masjid should have women and girls, and menand boys, learning the art of selfdefence. You’re notattacking anybody, you’re not bothering anybody, you’renot bullying anybody but when they come, we must givethem what they are looking for. That’s on my heart to tell
The Star & Crescent Ezine August 2017: Issue 28thestarandcrescent19.wordpress.com 5
you. I grieve seeing what’s happening to our Muslims. See,most of you that are from the other side, when you come toAmerica, you set up your masjids in the white communities. You don’t want to come near us and you know they tellyou, “Leave those Black people alone. Those Black peopleare savages. Stay away from them.” And you are soanxious to obey them.
So you go find your lily white community, put up your prettymosque and you think that they’re going to like that. Butthose that have sense, they came in the Black community.Let me tell you something, Brothers and Sisters, in SurahAlAbasa, a blind man was tapping his way up to theProphet and he was having a conversation with a highlylearned and highly placed man. And he (the Prophet) wasgoing to town with him.
And the blind man kept tapping his way up and disturbedthe Prophet, and he frowned. That’s the name of thechapter, “He frowned.” Prophet Muhammad frowned on theblind man but God frowned on him. You waste your timewith people who don’t want to believe and here’s a peoplein the mud who want to rise and you’ve got knowledge andyou won’t bring it to us. How do you think Allah will judgeyou on the day of judgement?
I thank Allah for you and what you’ve done for Islam. Andwhat Allah through you has done for so many. I thank all ofyou for the good work that you do. Some of it not praisedbut it’s worthy of praise. But if you would continue to do thegood that you do but reach out to the white people whereyou live and try to convert them, yeah right. The Prophettried a long time to convert them. I think he was a littlebroken hearted. They didn’t want Islam. But we love Islamand many of us have died fighting for Islam.
I don’t want you to take this as a spanking or somethinglike that. I just feel that if we don’t do better, thechastisement of Allah will overtake us all. And you can’t saybecause you make your 5 prayers that you’re not going tobe chastised by Allah when you can walk by a drug addictand leave them. Walk by a prostitute and say nothing. Walkby our people that are killing each other in the streets anddon’t try to stop this madness, and then you think that Allahis going to be pleased with us? That’s not the way ofProphet Muhammad (PBUH). So stop using his name ifwe’re going to shield that good name with unclean religion, religion that does nothing.
Ramadan Mubarak! I thank you from the depth of my heartand I want all my family here to know I love you, and we’renot through because during the Eid celebration we’re goingto clean out all the homeless shelters and feed all of them.Maybe Allah will say, “Farrakhan, you really grieve over notbeing able to fast.” I do because it’s nothing more beautifulthan Muslims observing the fast of Ramadan.
I close with this. We were in Mecca during the last 10 daysof Ramadan. You ready for this? Two million Muslims werein AlHaram at the Ka’abah and surrounding area andwhen the prayers we said, “AllahuAkbar,” and we’re goingdown for sajdah, you just hear two million knees, umpf. Youtalk about a religion that’s so majestic. I saw two old men
when I made hajj holding each other’s hands. We were onour way to Muzdalifah to stone Shaitan. What anexperience that was. I got so carried away, this is the truth,my voice was so loud it scared the people around me whenI said ‘ALLAHUAKBAR!’
When I would throw my stones but the real stone throwersare those of us who cast truth at falsehood until we knockout its brains. That’s who you are.
Don’t feel bad about the militant side of Islam. Islam ispeace. It is. But after you have fought and overcome theopposition, Islam is peace. Thank you all for coming outtonight. Let us give our guests, our family, a standingovation and let them know that we love them. Let themknow that if we see somebody tearing off our Sister’s hijab, that’s the day we die.

INTERNATIONAL CALL TO PARTICIPATEIN THE 1ST AUGUST 2017
EMANCIPATION REPARATIONS MARCH
On Tuesday 1st August 2017, from 9 am, thousands ofpeople will converging on London's streets in Europe’sbiggest Afrikan Reparations March, marching fromWindrush Square, Brixton in South London to the PrimeMinisters official residence of 10 Downing Street. In this the4th consecutive year of the march taking place, there to benumerous simultaneous marches and/or other reparationsactions in various countries in Afrika, the Americas, theCaribbean and Europe.
This year the movement will be continuing with the theme‘Education is Part of Preparation for Reparations’ as part ofthe mobilisation and consciousness raising of Black peopletowards playing their part in efforts to enforce the stoppingof the Maangamizi and secure reparatory justice.
The aims of the March are as follows:
1. To draw attention to Afrikan peoples’ globaldetermination to not let the British State and otherperpetrators get away with the crimes of the Maangamizi(Afrikan hellacaust of chattel, colonial and neocolonialenslavement).
2. To raise consciousness about the fact that all the attackson us, in both individual and collective instances, amount toGenocide/Ecocide in Maangamizi continuity necessitatingreparations.
3. To increase awareness of the necessity to ‘Stop theMaangamizi’ and its current manifestations such asausterity, attempts to recolonise Afrika, mentacide anddeaths in police, psychiatric and prison custody.
4. To demonstrate Afrikan peoples’ strength, capacity anddetermination to speak to and challenge establishmentpower with our growing grassroots power to effect andsecure reparations (reparatory justice) on our own terms.
5. To showcase Afrikan people’s grassroots initiatives forreparations.
The 1st of August has been chosen as the day of thereparations march because it is the officiallyrecognised “Emancipation Day,” marking the passing
of The Slavery Abolition Act in the British Empire on 1August 1833.
Further, the significance of 1st August 1833 is that it is thedate that after all the years of resistance by chattelisedAfrikans, torn away from the Motherland, Britain and itsfellow European enslavers of Afrikan people werecompelled to recognise that they could no longer continueto enslave us without severe consequences. It thereforerepresents a symbolic day recognising our refusal to acceptenslavement, in every manner, including its present daymanifestations.
We, the illustrious Sons and Daughters of Afrika, have tomobilise ourselves in a united front and effort to engage inthe galvanising of our people in a collective ‘show ofstrength’ and demonstration of our principled operationalunity on the cause of holistic reparations for Afrikans bothat home and abroad. Come with friends and family ormarch with general Afrikan public and our allies.

We are therefore encouraged to continue mobilising andself-organising to secure the reparatory justice change weare organising to bring about.

WHAT IS REPARATIONS?
Professor Chinweizu Ibekwe
“Education is part of the Preparation for Reparations”
Let me begin by noting that Reparations is not just aboutmoney: it is not even mostly about money; in fact, money isnot even 1% (one percent) of what Reparations is about.
Reparations is mostly about making repairs, self-maderepairs on ourselves: mental repairs, psychological repairs, cultural repairs, organisational repairs, social repairs, institutional repairs, technological repairs, economicrepairs, political repairs, educational repairs, repairs ofevery type that we need in order to recreate sustainableBlack societies.
For the sad truth is that five centuries of holocaust hasmade our societies brittle and non-viable. And as the greatMarcus Garvey warned over 50 years ago, if we continueas we are, we are heading for extinction.
More important than any monies to be received, morefundamental than any lands to be recovered, is theopportunity the Reparations campaign offers us for therehabilitation of Black people, by Black people, for Blackpeople; opportunities for the rehabilitation of our minds, ourmaterial condition, our collective reputation, our cultures, our memories, our self respect, our religious, our politicaltraditions and our family institutions; but first and foremostfor the rehabilitation of our minds.
Let me repeat that the most important aspect of Reparationis not the money the campaign may or may not bring; themost important part of Reparation is our self-repair; thechange it will bring about in our understanding of ourhistory, of ourselves, and of our destiny; the chance it willbring about in our place in the world.

Message to the Blackman
The Honourable Elijah Muhammad
Who is the Original man?The above question is now answered from the mouth ofAllah to us, the so-called Negroes, for the first time sinceour straying away from our own nation.
The secret of who is god and who is the devil has been amystery to the average one of mankind, to be revealed inall of its clearness to one who is so ignorant that he knowsnot even himself – born blind, deaf and dumb in thewilderness of North America.
All praise is due to the Great Mahdi, who was to come andhas come, the sole master of the worlds. I ask myself attimes, “What can I do to repay Allah (the Great Mahdi, FardMuhammad) for his coming, wisdom, knowledge andunderstanding?”
Most of us have been born in the southern part of thiswilderness of sin, where the members of the white race(man of sin) has always manifested himself to us (the so-called negroes), should have known that he was really theevil one by the way he treated us. Yet, we were made sodumb that we could not recognize him.
The truth of him is now being told and taught throughoutthe world, to his anger and sorrow. He is losing no timetrying to hinder the truth of the above question, who is theoriginal man?
He is setting watchers and listeners around me and myfollowers to see if he can find some other charge to putagainst us to satisfy his anger of the truth that we preachfrom the mouth of Allah, who is with us in person.
The original man, Allah has declared, is none other thanthe Black man. The Black man is the first and the last, maker and owner of the universe. From him came allbrown, yellow, red and white people. By using a specialmethod of birth control law the black man was able toproduce the white race.
The true knowledge of the black and white mankind shouldbe enough to awaken the so-called Negroes and put themon their feet and on the road to self-independence. Yet,they are so afraid of the slave-masters that they even love
The Star & Crescent Ezine August 2017: Issue 28thestarandcrescent19.wordpress.com 9
them to their destruction and wish that the bearer of truthwould not tell the truth even if he knows it.
The time has arrived when it must be told the world over. There are millions who do not know who is the originalman. Why should this question be put before the worldtoday? Because it is the time of judgment between theBlack and white and the knowledge of the rightful owners ofthe earth.
Allah is pointing out to the nations of earth their rightfulplaces, and this judgment will bring an end to war over it.Now it is so easy to recognise the original man, the realowner of the earth, by the history of the two (Black andwhite). We have an unending past history of the Blacknation and a limited one of the white race.
We find that history teaches that the earth was populatedby the Black nation ever since it was created, but thehistory of the white race does not take us beyond 6,000years.
Everywhere the white race has gone on our planet theyhave either found the original man or a sign that he hadbeen there previously. Allah is proving to the world of Blackmen that the white race actually does not own any part ofour planet.
The Bible and Holy Qur’an bears witness to the above, ifyou were able to understand it. The holy Qur’an, the beautyof Scriptures, repeatedly challenges the white race to pointout the part of the heavens and the earth they created.
It further teaches that they are not even their own creators. We created white man from a small life germ, the softpronoun “we” used nearly throughout the holy qur’anmakes the knowledge of the original man much clearer andmore intelligent of how the white race’s creation took place.
In the bible, referring to their creation, we have US(Genesis Ch 1:26) creating, or rather making, the race; theUS and WE used show beyond a shadow of a doubt thatthey came from another people.
A knowledge of the white race removes once and for alltimes the mistakes that would be made in dealing withthem. My followers and I can and are getting along withthem in a more understandable way than ever because weknow them.
You cannot blame one for the way he or she was born, forthey had nothing to do with that. Can we say to them whydon’t you do righteousness when nature did not giverighteousness to them? Or say to them, why are you sucha wicked devil? Who is responsible, the made or hismaker? Yet weare not excused for following and practisinghis evil or accepting him for a righteous guide just becausehe is not his maker.
A good name is better than gold
One of the first and most important truths that must beestablished in this day is our identity. This is what our God,Whose Proper Name is Allah, is guiding me to point out toyou, my people, who are members of the Lost and foundNation in North America. You, my people, who have beenrobbed of your complete identity for over 400 years. Is it not
time for you toknow who you areafter 400 years ofsubmission to the white slave-masters of america and theirfalse religion of Christianity?
Our true God is not like the “Spook God” of Christianitywho demands death for our salvation and redemption. Heis offering us Freedom, Liberty and the Pursuit ofHappiness on this earth while we live. First, you must begiven the names of your forefathers, whose names are themost Holy and Righteous Names of Allah. Again, I repeat, that restoring to you your identity is one of the first andmost important truths to be established by God, Himself.
All nations of the earth are recognised by the name bywhich they are called. By stating one’s name, one is able toassociate an entire order of a particular civilisation simplyby name alone. For example, if you take the name LUChin, we know immediately that this is a chinese name, whose land or origin is China, a country that operates onan independent basis and is recognised throughout theworld as a nation and whose people demand respect.
We know this and more of the name “Lu Chin.” If we searchamong the peoples and nations of the earth, we willdiscover that this is an established truth from country tocountry and from continent to continent.
It is only when we come to America and learn the namesthat our people are now going by that we discoverthat awhole nation of 20,000,000 black people are going by thenames of white people. How can a so-called Negro say thathis name is “Sam Jones,” a white man’s name with roots ineurope, when “Sam Jones” (Black Man) comes from Africaor Asia?
My poor blind, deaf and dumb people are going by thewrong names and until you accept the truth of your trueidentity and accept the names of your people and nationwe will never be respected because of this alone. This isone of the reasons Almighty Allah has come among us, thatis to give us His Names, the Most Holy and RighteousNames of the Planet Earth.
It is Allah who gave me my name, “Muhammad.” from thisname, alone, our open enemies (the white race) know thatthe True and Living god has come into our midst and isdoing a Divine Work among the so-called Negroes ofAmerica. The white man knows that Islam was our religion, our civilisation and our way of life before he made us blind, deaf and dumb to this knowledge.
It has never been the white man’s intention to restore to usthis knowledge. Now that he sees his formerly dead ex-slaves returning to their own religion (Islam) andworshipping their own God (Allah) and awakening to thetruth of their true identity, he knows that God alone isbringing this change about.
The white race knows and admits that it is only a matter oftime when all the truth will be accepted by our people (tohis deepest regret). I warn you, my people, discard yourformer slave-master’s names and be willing and ready toaccept one of Allah’s Pure and Righteous Names that HeAlone will give our people from His Own Mouth! A goodname is, indeed, better than gold. I am naught but a warnerand a Messenger to you, my people, not self-sent but sentdirectly from Almighty God (Allah). Health benefits of onion
The Health Benefits of Onions (Yellow and White)
Just like their actual structure, onions have layers uponlayers of amazing health benefits. These are the mostcommon such effects, virtually present in all the onions youwill find on the market, regardless of their type or color. Some of them will impress you, some of them willdownright surprise you, and most will definitely motivateyou to eat more onions.
1. Onions are very rich in antioxidantsPhytochemicals, or phytonutrients, are natural substanceswhich are found within fresh fruit and vegetables and whichmake them so healthy. Some of them also have antioxidant effects, just like the phytonutrients in onions. Youwill be surprised to know, but onions are actually the mostantioxidant rich food you can find.
That’s right, it’s not lemons, or blueberries, or parsley, orany of the other superfoods advertised as the ultimatesource of antioxidants. It was onions all along! Also, afunny fact. One of the reasons for this superabundance ofantioxidants is the presence of sulphuric compounds, thesame which give onions their slightly unpleasant smell.
2. Onions contain powerful cancerfighting substancesThe antioxidants mentioned above obviously help fightcancer and all sorts of tumors, but one substance inparticular has extra anticarcinogenic properties. Thiscompound is called quercetin, and it is a flavonoid presentin onions, liked by numerous studies with plenty of healthyeffects (including the prevention of cardiovascular disease,Parkinson’s and so on). Still, the most remarkable effect ofquercetin is its ability to fight cancer, and if you needed onemore incentive to consume more onions, this is the best
you can find. The anticancer properties of quercetin areamong the most desirable and important of all the healthbenefits of onions.
3. Onions encourage the production of goodcholesterol (HDL). This wonderful effect on onions is onlyenjoyed if you eat them raw, so keep this in mind beforeadjusting your diet. An easy way to help raise your levels ofgood cholesterol (and thus lower your levels of the badone) is to have them sliced on top of your dishes. If youalso squeeze a little lemon juice over them to take awaytheir potency, it’s all for the better, healthwise.
4. Onions protect your stomach from ulcers andgastritis. Few things help demolish free radicals as well asonions, and together with their healing substances (moreon the healing power of onion juice below) they can protectyour stomach from ulcers and wounds. Onions also preventgastritis from developing on the long term, and help keepyour stomach’s inner lining healthy and with balancedacidity levels.
5. Onions regulate blood sugar, preventing diabetesAnother precious substance present in onions – chromium– is to thank for a better and steadier regulation of bloodsugar. This has a positive effect in maintaining the body’snatural sensitivity to insulin and preventing diabetes, regulating the appetite and also preventing obesity.
6. Onions reduce inflammation and fight infectionsThe flavonoids and compounds that make onions smell andtaste pungent (when raw) are also responsible for reducing
The Star & Crescent Ezine August 2017: Issue 28thestarandcrescent19.wordpress.com 13
inflammation, both locally, and throughout the body ingeneral. As you probably know, inflammation is responsiblefor your body developing all sorts of diseases, in time, sofoods that reduce it (such as green tea, or raw almonds)are very often added to a healthy dish precisely for thispurpose. The other health benefits of onions are thereforemade that much more potent by their antiinflammatoryeffect.
7. Onions improve the efficiency of vitamin C withinyour body. Onions contain high amounts of vitamin C, but, more importantly, they improve and tweak the way vitaminC gets activated and works inside your body. This makesonions helpful not only for the wellfunctioning of vitamin Cprovided by themselves there, but also for the vitamin Cbrought on by other foods in your diet. This is good for yourentire immune system, skin and tissue elasticity, as well asyour general energy levels and vitality. Studies on thehealth benefits of onions proved that the vitamin C presentin these vegetables is much more important within the bodythan the vitamin C derived from other sources, theoreticallyricher (like citrus fruit).
8. Onions improve bone density for postmenopausalwomen. This beneficial effect comes not only through theonions’ own calcium content, but also due to theirflavonoids which help the calcium you take find its way tothe places in the body where it’s needed most. The healthbenefits of onions therefore include ostheoporosisprevention.
The Health Benefits of Red OnionsAs mentioned above, red onions share all the wonderfulhealth benefits and nutritional value of the yellow (andwhite) onions presented above, with a few extra perks.
These extra perks are:
9. Red onions further reduce bad cholesterolThe flavonoids which give red onions their red pigmentationare also extremely valuable to your health by its wonderfuleffects on reducing bad cholesterol and stimulating theproduction of the good one. Studies have shown thatincreasing the consumption of quercetin (the mainflavonoid compound in onions) will also relive bloodpressure, reducing the risk of stroke and coronary heartdisease.
10. Red onions are a rich source of iron, calcium andother precious minerals. The humble red onion may beone of nature’s richest sources of calcium, iron, manganese, magnesium, potassium, along with vitamins C,K, and B6. These precious substances are rarely foundtogether in nature, so take advantage of red onions’nutritious components as often as you can. No list of thehealth benefits of onions could be complete withoutmentioning this powerful vitamin cocktail which is essentialfor a healthy bone density and a healthy cycle of bloodformation and circulation.
11. Red onions alleviate asthma, allergies and arthritisOne health effect particular to red onions (which isn’tnoticeably present in yellow onions) is their ability toimprove the state of people troubled by asthma, arthritisand allergies. This is due to their general antiinflammatoryproperties (shred with other types of onions as well), butalso due to onionin A, a compound which suppresses theactivity of the immune cells which trigger the abovementioned diseases.
The Health Benefits of Green OnionsSpring onions, with their lovely green and white parts, arecarriers of the same health benefits present in other typesof onions, and also a few extras. Here are the main 3health benefits of onions which are reserved for the greenones in particular.
12. The green parts of spring onions are loaded withvitamin A. A green onion stalk contains about 24micrograms of vitamin A, which is the equivalent of 2.6percent of a man’s daily need of vitamin A and 3.4 percentof a woman’s daily need of this vitamin. That’s a huge
The Star & Crescent Ezine August 2017: Issue 28thestarandcrescent19.wordpress.com 14
amount for just one little stalk. Next time you feel like youshould add more vitamin A to your diet, just remember thatcarrots aren’t the only option.
13. Green onions are a rich source of fibreFibre has plenty of health benefits for your overall digestivesystem, and for regulating the blood sugar levels and thusmaintaining your cardiovascular health as well. The healthbenefits of onions include the benefits of fibrerichvegetables in general, therefore.
14. Green onions are also a rich source of copperCopper is a rare and precious mineral, which you won’t beable to find in many other vegetable sources. Takeadvantage of spring onions when they’re in season to loadup on copper. Your capillaries and several of your organs(pancreas, liver) will have nothing than to benefit from it.
15. Their particular vitamin cocktail can prevent DNA and cell damage. The substances present in green onionshave been proven to inhibit the production of xanthine oxidase, an enzyme that produces the free radicals which end up harming cells and their DNA. Eating green onions regularly can help keep your body healthier and younger, by maintaining the cells in their original state for longer. That is one of the most amazing health benefits of onions, present especially in their green form.
Healthy Ways to Consume OnionsIf you’re wondering how you should consume onions inorder to make the most out of their health benefits, we havea few suggestions popular among various nutrition hubs.We won’t actually reproduce here a bunch of recipes, sinceyou can find those on the multitude of culinary websites outthere, but provide you with a few tips instead:
• Raw onions do have a higher concentration ofbeneficial substances than cooked ones, obviously. But the difference becomes significantmore in the matter of antioxidants, and it’s safe tosay that all the other health benefits presentedabove will be available for cooked onions as well.
• A simple way to add more onions to almost everydish, without fretting about recipes and such, is todo this: slice the onions, put them in a bowl with asqueeze of lemon juice and let them marinate for510 minutes. Also add salt and perhaps alsopepper or fresh herbs (to taste). The lemon juicewill take away some of their pungent taste andsmell, while keeping the antioxidant properties ofthe flavonoids intact. After they marinated for a bit, feel free to just add them on top of any savory dishyou may be having. Do this at least once a dayand your health will visibly improve.
For a cup of immunity boosting, antiinflammatorygoodness, try onion juice. It sounds as if it may not tastevery good, but with the right additions and extraingredients, it can be quite yummy. Look for onion juicerecipes online and you will discover a pleasant variety ofsuggestions. Traditional wisdom prescribed onion andhoney juice as a cure for the flu, but based on all the healthbenefits of onions described above, you should know thatits restorative powers go way beyond a simple flu cure.
• Add ingredients which complement and boost thenutritional substances present in onions. The bestchoices would be garlic (for its similar properties),as well as onion seeds (they’re black and tiny, about the size of sesame, and can be found inhealth food stores).

The Honourable Elijah Muhammad
What the Muslims want 1. We want freedom. We want a full and completefreedom.
2. We want justice. Equal justice under the law. We wantjustice applied equally to all, regardless of creed or class orcolour.
3. We want equality of opportunity. We want equalmembership in society with the best in civilized society.
4. We want our people in America whose parents orgrandparents were descendants from slaves, to be allowedto establish a separate state or territory of their own–eitheron this continent or elsewhere. We believe that our formerslave masters are obligated to provide such land and thatthe area must be fertile and minerally rich. We believe thatour former slave masters are obligated to maintain andsupply our needs in this separate territory for the next 20 to25 years – until we are able to produce and supply our ownneeds. Since we cannot get along with them in peace andequality, after giving them 400 years of our sweat andblood and receiving in return some of the worst treatmenthuman beings have ever experienced, we believe ourcontributions to this land and the suffering forced upon usby white America, justifies our demand for completeseparation in a state or territory of our own.
5. We want freedom for all Believers of Islam now held infederal prisons. We want freedom for all Black men andwomen now under death sentence in innumerable prisonsin the North as well as the South. We want every Blackman and woman to have the freedom to accept or rejectbeing separated from the slave master’s children andestablish a land of their own. We know that the above planfor the solution of the Black and white conflict is the bestand only answer to the problem between two people.
6. We want an immediate end to the police brutality andmob attacks against the so-called Negro throughout theUnited States. We believe that the Federal governmentshould intercede to see that Black men and women tried inwhite courts receive justice in accordance with the laws ofthe land–or allow us to build a new nation for ourselves, dedicated to justice, freedom and liberty.
7. As long as we are not allowed to establish a state orterritory of our own, we demand not only equal justiceunder the laws of the United States, but equal employment
The Star & Crescent Ezine August 2017: Issue 28thestarandcrescent19.wordpress.com 16
opportunities–NOW! We do not believe that after 400 yearsof free or nearly free labour, sweat and blood, which hashelped America become rich and powerful, so manythousands of Black people should have to subsist on reliefor charity or live in poor houses.
8. We want the government of the United States to exemptour people from ALL taxation as long as we are deprived ofequal justice under the laws of the land.
9. We want equal education–but separate schools up to 16for boys and 18 for girls on the condition that the girls besent to women’s colleges and universities. We want allBlack children educated, taught and trained by their ownteachers. Under such schooling system we believe we willmake a better nation of people. The United Statesgovernment should provide, free, all necessary text booksand equipment, schools and college buildings. The Muslimteachers shall be left free to teach and train their people inthe way of righteousness, decency and self respect.
10. We believe that intermarriage or race mixing should beprohibited. We want the religion of Islam taught withouthindrance or suppression.
Master W Fard Muhammad
What The Muslims Believe1. WE BELIEVE In the One God whose proper Name isAllah.
2. WE BELIEVE in the Holy Qur’an and in the Scriptures ofall the Prophets of God.
3. WE BELIEVE in the truth of the Bible, but we believethat it has been tampered with and must be reinterpretedso that mankind will not be snared by the falsehoods thathave been added to it.
4. WE BELIEVE in Allah’s Prophets and the Scriptures theybrought to the people.
5. WE BELIEVE in the the resurrection of the dead–not inphysical resurrection–but in mental resurrection. Webelieve that the so-called Negroes are most in need ofmental resurrection; therefore they will be resurrected first.Furthermore, we believe we are the people of God’schoice, as it has been written, that God would choose therejected and the despised. We can find no other personsfitting this description in these last days more that the so-
called Negroes in America. We believe in the resurrectionof the righteous.
6. WE BELIEVE in the judgment; we believe this firstjudgment will take place as God revealed, in America…
7. WE BELIEVE this is the time in history for the separationof the so-called Negroes and the so-called whiteAmericans. We believe the Black man should be freed inname as well as in fact. By this we mean that he should befreed from the names imposed upon him by his formerslave masters. Names which identified him as being theslave master’s slave. We believe that if we are free indeed,we should go in our own people’s names–the Black peopleof the Earth.
8. WE BELIEVE in justice for all, whether in God or not; webelieve as others, that we are due equal justice as humanbeings. We believe in equality–as a nation–of equals. Wedo not believe that we are equal with our slave masters inthe status of “freed slaves.” We recognize and respectAmerican citizens as independent peoples and we respecttheir laws which govern this nation.
9. WE BELIEVE that the offer of integration is hypocriticaland is made by those who are trying to deceive the Blackpeoples into believing that their 400-year-old open enemiesof freedom, justice and equality are, all of a sudden, their“friends.” Furthermore, we believe that such deception isintended to prevent Black people from realizing that thetime in history has arrived for the separation from thewhites of this nation. If the white people are truthful abouttheir professed friendship toward the so-called Negro, theycan prove it by dividing up America with their slaves. We donot believe that America will ever be able to furnish enoughjobs for her own millions of unemployed, in addition to jobsfor the 20,000,000 black people as well.
10. WE BELIEVE that we who declare ourselves to berighteous Muslims, should not participate in wars whichtake the lives of humans. We do not believe this nationshould force us to take part in such wars, for we havenothing to gain from it unless America agrees to give us thenecessary territory wherein we may have something to fightfor.
11. WE BELIEVE our women should be respected andprotected as the women of other nationalities are respectedand protected.
12. WE BELIEVE that Allah (God) appeared in the Personof Master W Fard Muhammad, July, 1930; the long-awaited“Messiah” of the Christians and the “Mahdi” of the Muslims. We believe further and lastly that Allah is God and besidesHIM there is no god and He will bring about a universalgovernment of peace wherein we all can live in peacetogether.
