Provider Collaboration

Supply Chain Integration

Global Regulations & Emerging Markets

Providers and suppliers must partner in the changing world of the Affordable Care Act. Change is impacting all of us, so the more opportunity for collaboration, the greater efficiencies and visibility will be realized in our supply chains.

Through panel discussions and Collaboration Roundtables, some of the largest US healthcare systems, including Providence Health & Services, Mayo Clinic, McLeod Health, NYU Langone Medical Center, BJC Healthcare, and The John Hopkins Hospital, share:

· Understanding how hospitals operate to eliminate waste and gain shared savings

· Moving to a low unit of measure and just-in-time in your hospital distribution center to pull out cost and add value to suppliers

· Aligning the needs of the patient, buyer, and supplier to create value and control inbound freight costs

With mergers and acquisitions prominent in our industry as firms gain competitive advantage and eliminate inefficient operations, we supply chain executives are left with the difficult task of integrating complex systems, processes, people, and partners. There is great opportunity to be had, but it can oftentimes be a nightmare to sort out. The leaders behind some of the most notable mergers and acquisitions taking place today share their successes, what they would do differently, and ideas for smoother integration going forward. Learn from:

Larry Smith VP, Global Supply Chain Becton Dickinson and Co.

Michael Harris Director Global Logistics CareFusion

Rob Varner Senior Director, Americas Distribution Medtronic

Anthony O’Callaghan Director Worldwide Distribution Integra LifeSciences

While growth in emerging markets is much more promising than growth domestically, doing business in Brazil, Russia, India, China, and Mexico is no easy feat. Country-specific regulations are hard to stay ahead, labelling requirements continue to change, and its hard to determine whether the partners you are working with in emerging markets are truly the experts they say they are.

Becton Dickinson and Co., B. Braun Medical, Welch Allyn, and Gartner share:

· Streamlining supply chain logistics in BRIC and Mexico

· Global updates on track and trace, serialization, and UDI and how it can benefit the supply chain

· Outsourcing freight payment to create a more cost effective, efficient supply chain

· Finding and choosing a cold chain 3PL partner for your temperature-controlled needs

Your Key Supply Chain Issues, Addressed

Value AddOur business is more than getting our product to the customer on time. In a world where outcomes are leading reimbursement and devices are becoming more commoditized, providing extra value to our customers needs to be a priority. Learn how these experts are upping the ante on adding value.

Sheri Henck, VP Global Supply Chain & Device Value Stream Operations, Medtronic, discusses getting beyond a price-based discussion with your customers to talk supply chain solutions that help both companies

Jon Wendt, Director, US Distribution & Logistics Services, Stryker explains how to provide more value-added services to your customer to increase value and customer satisfaction

Scott Williams, Senior Director, Supply Chain, Dexcom, a company that employs a direct-to-consumer model, determines how to best work with your 3PLs to achieve inventory accuracy and on-time shipments

Inventory OptimizationInventory can no longer be an issue we put off until tomorrow because we have more important things to do today. There is value to be realized beyond the cost of excess inventory. The following executives will share how they are implementing optimal inventory management practices to drive inventory down. Plus, one of the Benchmarking And Best Practice Workshops will focus specifically on inventory management and visibility.

Ivan Lai Director of Global Supply Chain Planning Stryker

Sue Shay Global Inventory Director Biomet

John Washington Senior Director, Global Supply Chain – Critical Care Edwards Lifesciences

Dear Colleague,

As the healthcare industry continues its evolution, so must our supply chains.

Healthcare providers’ operations are changing to fit the new healthcare model. They must focus on outcomes in order to receive reimbursement; patients increasingly have more choice in their healthcare, but oftentimes higher out-of-pocket deductibles; more walk-in clinics are opening and acquisitions are growing – all while hospital supply chain executives are responding to changing demand, disaster preparedness issues, and even the Ebola epidemic.

Meanwhile, we are still feeling pressure from the C-suite as the Medical Device Tax eats away at our bottom lines. The supply chain has never been under more scrutiny as a way to cut cost in order to maintain profit margins. We are seeing greater growth opportunities in emerging markets, but finding the right partners, understanding labelling requirements, and dealing with ever-changing country-specific regulation is slowing our growth.

Unfortunately, the nature of our jobs requires us to continually “put out fires” and respond to urgent customer, transportation, integration, or supply issues, rather than focus on longer-term strategic initiatives. As one of last year’s LogiMed speakers said, inventory has always been something we can work on tomorrow because we have more important things to do today… Well, tomorrow’s here, folks.

One of the new elements of LogiMed 2015 is that there will be more healthcare providers – both speakers and attendees – at the event. In order for true efficiency and lower cost to happen in the healthcare supply chain, all stakeholders, especially the device manufacturers and providers, must collaborate and work together for the common goal of supply chain efficiency and visibility. Many of us should have started these conversations years ago, but it’s not too late. At LogiMed with all the manufacturers and providers in one place, we can have these critical conversations throughout three days of education and networking, rather than one-hour meetings spaced out over three years. Talk about efficiency!

We could all use more time in the day. And while that 25th hour will remain a dream, learning from the successes, and even the failures, of your peers and meeting the right solutions providers is an opportunity that will literally save you weeks, if not years, of trying to figure things out on your own. Join us at LogiMed to carry on the conversation and move our healthcare supply chain forward.

Sincerely,

The LogiMed 2015 Advisory Board

Who Attends

ManufacturersWhile the name LogiMed implies logistics, LogiMed is actually a total end-to-end supply chain conference. If you are a SVP, VP, Director, or Manager of the following functions at a medical device OEM, LogiMed is for you! · Supply Chain (Global and Domestic) · Demand Planning · Supply Planning · Inventory Management · Forecasting · Warehousing · Transportation · Distribution · Operations · Logistics · Manufacturing

ProvidersThe inaugural US LogiMed last year was a huge success, but one of the biggest pieces of feedback we received from attendees was that in order to truly create maximum efficiency in the healthcare supply chain, there must be more communication and collaboration among providers and their suppliers.

If you are a supply chain executive from a healthcare system, we invite you to join us at LogiMed to move the partnership discussions forward. Please contact Ellen Rapoport at [email protected] or (646) 200 7482 to learn if you qualify to attend LogiMed as our guest.

We’ll email you the numbers you need to know before the event. (If there are any specific areas of your supply chain operations you’d like to benchmark, please email them to event director Sara Mueller at [email protected].) You will see the data in real time via our conference mobile app, but we’ll also package the results after the event and share them with you in a 2015 Benchmark Report. The second half of this day consists of the LogiMed Collaboration Roundtables. You’ve told us that in order to truly create efficiencies in the healthcare supply chain, both providers and manufacturers must come together in partnership to eliminate waste and share in increased efficiencies. Your customer, the healthcare providers and hospitals, will lead roundtables and take part in discussion with you to create a more effective supply chain.

“Any VP of Supply Chain at a major healthcare provider would benefit from attending LogiMed. It gave me the opportunity to network with the operations side of my primary medical device suppliers in order to increase

efficiency in the healthcare supply chain and work toward the common goal of end-to-end supply chain visibility.”

- Steve Kiewiet, VP Supply Chain Logistics/Distribution, BJC HealthCare
