Motorola Personal Devices Business Group Objectives Confirmation

• Time– Be first to market with commercial 3G handsets supporting HSDPA

• Cost– Manage project costs by leveraging current T&M hardware

investments– Reuse of Motorola test-related IP

• Quality of Product and Execution– Optimize 3G test coverage with minimum resources– Ensure Fidelity of UEs by reuse of validated test cases

• Consistency– Transition to next generation test tools must be seamless and

enable the overall project plan’s success– Meet all commitments and milestones with major customers

Executive Summary of Proposal

To meet Motorola Personal Devices Business Group’s (PDG) need to test HSDPA, Anritsu proposes the upgrade of selected MD8480B test sets with the new MD8480C platform.

The upgrade strategy offers:– PDG’s retention of full investment in intellectual property– Reuse of the maximum technically feasible hardware existing in the current

8480A and B sets – A scalable platform for next generation technologies.

Anritsu proposes a sliding scale pricing model that offers financial incentives determined by strategic commitment on future replacement

volume.

New Platform Considerations Investment Protection

In a brand new product platform: • PDG to address future testing requirements, as well

as meet legacy (back-compatible) requirements

• Provide a way to ensure PDG maintains its investment in current intellectual property and developed skills

• Maximize re-use of hardware and software investment made in the two predecessors (MD8480A and MD8480B)
