A MESSAGE FROM OUR PASTOR

Dear Holy Apostles Parish Family,

Summer is flying by quickly, so I hope you

are getting in some fun and relaxation.

It is important to give ourselves a period of

rest.

This weekend our new Youth and Young

Adult Coordinator, Emily Stuckey will be

introducing herself. She is a wonderful

young woman that we are grateful to have

join us. I am hoping that this month she

gets a chance to meet the people involved

in these ministries as we put our plan into

action in the fall. Now that I am an “older

gentleman” I realized that when I ate lunch

with Emily and Aaron, if I add their ages

together it still is less than my age. It is

great to now have someone on our staff

from each decade. It keeps us fresh and

balanced. I know you will enjoy Emily.

This week is vacation bible school. I hope

everyone enjoys themselves. I will miss

the first three days, because I will be at a

conference on alcoholism in the clergy.

I go every year to keep current in helping

our priests get help when they need it.

Have a Blessed Week! Father Paul

Couples—Enjoy a Special Evening Holy Apostles Marriage Ministry will offer “An Evening

by the Pond” (the outdoor evening atmosphere will

be re-created indoors in Sherry Center) on Friday,

July 15, from 8 to 10 PM. The evening’s topic,

“Drop the Fig Leaf—God’s

Plan for Man and Woman”

will be presented by Dawn

and Mike Fitzpatrick from the

Archdiocese of Chicago.

The cost is $25/couple, paya-

ble at the door. (Financial

scholarships are available.)

Please bring your chairs and

Come Walk/Ride in the Parade! McHenry’s annual Fiesta Days Parade will be on

Sunday, July 24 at 1:30 PM and the three Catholic

parishes of McHenry (St. Mary, St. Patrick and Holy

Apostles) are entering a joint float for the first time!

All parish members are invited to take part in the

parade—kids (decorate your bikes and strollers!),

teens, and adults of all ages—either walk or ride a

trolley! (Our parish has ten seats available to us on

the trolley.) We will also need

people to pass out bottles of

water to parade-watchers. Just

come to Main Street near the

train station at noon and be part

of the fun. Help is still needed

with the decoration of the float so

if you are able to volunteer some

time to decorate the most awesome float in the pa-

rade, contact Jen Marsh at 815-388-0163 or email

to [email protected].

Please pray this Vocation Prayer with a special

intention for our parish member, Jordan Roth,

and her desire to enter religious life!

Father, in the name of Jesus,

through the power of Your Holy Spirit,

inspire men and women to labor for

Your Kingdom.

We especially pray for those discerning

their state in life: single, celibate or

married, religious, ordained or lay.

Inspire them to be generous,

courageous, and joyful.

We pray through the intercession of

Mary, our Mother, St. Ignatius,

and all the saints. Amen.

Jesus Will Bless You... ...your family, and the whole world for this hour of faith

you spend with Him in the Blessed Sacrament. Take

some time each week to visit Jesus in the Divine Eucharist

at the All Saints Perpetual Adoration Chapel. Pray, listen,

and feel the peace that He gives us so lovingly. Break

from your busy life to acknowledge His comforting love.

Please pray about committing to these open times:

Sunday: 12 to 1 PM Thursday: 10 to 11 AM

Friday: 2 to 3 PM

Saturday: 2 to 3 AM (Friday overnight) & 2 to 3 PM

Please contact Mike Thielsen, 815-385-8562 or

[email protected] to volunteer as a permanent adorer.

Usher Ministry Needs You! A friendly, welcoming attitude is all that is needed to be

an usher at our weekend Masses. Ushers serve at one

Mass (your choice) for one month at a time. No meet-

ings to attend—just arrive 30 minutes before the Mass

you are serving and stay a few minutes after Mass to

straighten up the pews. Especially needed are ushers

at the 5 PM Mass on Saturday and the 8 AM Mass on

Sunday. Contact Mike Johnson at 815-477-8408 or

[email protected] if you can help.

Men’s “Road to Emmaus” Retreat Men—young and older—please save the date for the fall

Men’s English “Road to Emmaus” Retreat to grow your

relationship with Jesus. The dates are from the evening

of Friday, November 4 through Sunday, November 6.

Please mark your calendars to save these dates for an

amazing retreat weekend that could change your life. If

you have any questions, contact Deacon Curt Fiedler at

815-347-8862. Watch future bulletins for further details.

If You Like to Eat...You Can Help Jordan! Who doesn’t like donuts or pizza? A few fundraisers are planned to help Jordan Roth

pay off her student loan debt so that she can enter the religious life as a Franciscan Sister.

This weekend and July 23/24—Donut Sale after morning Masses and Pizza Sale after

the Saturday and Sunday 5 PM Masses in Sherry Center.

Culver’s Restaurant in Crystal Lake will donate a percentage of your purchase of deli-

cious Culver’s food on Monday, July 25.

Your Gifts Help Families Meet Needs Some of our McHenry neighbors remain under-

employed, despite working several jobs. Working three

part-time jobs and supporting her two young children

and her two brothers, a young mother found herself

short on cash and unable to pay her full rent payment.

Thanks to your generous support of the St. Vincent de

Paul Society, Vincentians were able to pay this family's

rent, allowing them to stay in their apartment. This finan-

cial support was accompanied by food to see the family

through the week and prayers of support and care.

"All they asked was that we should continue to remem-

ber the poor, the very thing I was eager to do." Gal 2:10

“Hope Takes Action” Workshop Offered Hope Takes Action, a ministry of the McHenry Chapter of

Church’s Muldoon Hall, 3500 Wash-

ington St., McHenry. There is a $20

fee to cover the cost of books and

materials. Volunteers must attend

BOTH sessions in order to work in this ministry. For

details/to register, visit hopetakes action.net or email

meros son figuras relacionadas con el culto del templo;

Significa

ignorar a Dios! Si yo no me acerco a aquel hombre, a

aquella mujer, a aquel niño, a aquel anciano o aquella

¡Gracias!
