Focusing intently on the future needs of our customers, over the past decade we have built the largest portfolio of multi-client geoscience data in the Norwegian Barents Sea and helped to define new frontier exploration zones around the Hoop Fault Complex and Finnmark Platform areas.

By deploying the optimum acquisition technology in each location to meet the geological and technical challenges of this proven, yet seismically complex, area, TGS can offer the widest variety of data types which, especially when combined, provide a more complete picture of the subsurface for energy decision making. Our library includes extensive regional modern 2D coverage, new 3D hubs, P-Cable, seafloor sampling and electromagnetic data.

New 3D Datasets for 2016

The flexibility of our business model and ability to act swiftly as a preferred partner in challenging times mean that 2015 has seen the continuation of TGS’ data acquisition program. This is designed to support future bi-annual license round activity and the annual APA round in under-explored areas of the Barents Sea during 2016 and beyond. New 3D datasets include:

Hjalmar 2015 (HJA15-3D)Drawing upon our detailed understanding of the geology of this region, this survey comprises a 3,747 km2 extension of TGS’ very successful Hoop area. It covers Wisting analogues and well developed late Triassic Snadd FM Channel Systems as well as untested play opportunities.

Final PSTM data, processed by TGS, is expected to be available in Q3 2016.

Europa 2015 (EUR15-3D)This 2,911 km2 3D survey, set along the margin between the Nordkapp Basin and the Fedinsky High, covers attractive prospects in the Barents Sea Southeast where regional evaluation has indicated the presence of hydrocarbons. The acquisition featured long offsets

(8,000 m) and the use of three sources for better cross line coverage.

Final PSTM data, processed by TGS, is expected to be available in Q3 2016.

Ringvassøy 2015 (R15-3D)Covering near-shore targets close to proven plays and likely infrastructure linked to existing discoveries, this 4,100 km2 survey ties into TGS’ existing Finnmark Platform survey. Long offsets (6,750 m) and broadband (Clari-Fi™) processed 3D is the optimal tool to explore this structurally complex area. This survey was carried out in cooperation with Dolphin Geophysical.

Final PSTM data, processed by TGS, is expected to be available at end Q2 2016.
