Tuesday 20th November
2018
Welcome to Week 6.
Today we have had the pleasure of listening to our Year 5 students’
election speeches for our leadership team 2019. I would like to
congratulate each and every candidate for their hard work with their
speech preparation and for their willingness to take on the extra
responsibility of leadership. I was extremely impressed with the quality of
the students and I wish them well in their endeavours.
Tomorrow our senior students will be participating in the “Beach to Bush”
program. This is an extremely valuable program presented by Surf
Lifesaving NSW – teaching children about the dangers of surf and rips and
how to stay safe at the beach- a very timely reminder with our summer
holidays just around the corner!
I hope you have an enjoyable week!
Regards,
Lyn Barnes
Principal.
Pictured above is Di McCullough the local coordinator of Operation
Christmas Child receiving our schools’ boxes from Year Six students
Pru Sannga and Mitchell Johnston. Once again we have had a great response
to this appeal, thank you to parents, students and staff.
Could students who received
a perpetual trophy or shield
at last year’s
Presentation Day assembly
please return it to the
Front Office as soon as
possible.
Thank you.

All WWPS students celebrated "Music. Count Us In" on
November 1. "Music. Count Us In" is an initiative of Music
Australia to promote music in Australian schools. WWPS
students joined 700,000 students all around the country to sing
the same song on the same day. Each year the song is written
and recorded by students. This year we even had some of our
own talented songwriters (Claudia Hopper, Thomas Jordan
Downes and Annalise Bischoff) write a song together to enter for
the competition- a huge achievement! In our school music
lessons, all WWPS students learned to sing the song, sign it in
Auslan and play it on a variety of instruments. It is always a
highlight of our music calendar.
.
November is proving to be a busy month…….
A great day was had on our
Music Reward Excursion on
Friday 9th November. Students
earned an invitation to this
excursion by showing commitment
to our music ensembles this year –
choir, vocal group, recorder,
ukulele, guitar, clarinet and
trumpet. They enjoyed a break at
Griffith City Park followed by a
captivating “Taikoz” Japanese
drumming show at the Griffith
Theatre.
The Town Library 2018 Children’s
Book Week Awards were presented
by Mrs Cathy Lange at our Infants
Assembly on 13th November.
Libby
Shanks was
the lucky
winner of a
book award.
Two of our school leaders,
Mia Lancaster and Ben
Collins attended the
Remembrance Day
Ceremony
on 11th November 2018.
They laid a wreath on
behalf of our school
community.
Stage 3 had a fantastic time at Lake Burrendong! All students
showed excellent teamwork skills and had lots of fun! A massive
thank you to Mrs Hopper for your entire organisation! Thank you also
to Miss Cummins and Miss Poole for attending the excursion. A big
thank you to Daniel Lancaster for volunteering his time to come
along! Thanks also to Pete and Mrs Curran for their hard work.
