Feast of the Epiphany – 2020

Wise Men from the East

Today we celebrate the Feast of the Epiphany, which traditionally has been re-ferred to as the Feast of the Three Kings in

reference to the wise men of the East who visited Jesus in Bethle-hem. But the word Epiphany, itself, means Manifestation or Revelation – just as the Lord manifested himself to these three wise men. But while many attributed there being wise for being able to read the movement off the stars, their true wisdom lies in their being seekers of the truth. And when they found the Truth in the person of the Babe in the manger, they did not hesitate to pre-sent to Him their gifts of Frankincense, Gold and Myrrh. How about us? What are we seeking in life? Are we seeking for meaning, for good life, for happiness? Whatever it is

that we are looking for, we want something better in life. If we are serious in our search for happiness and salvation, like the wisemen, we will find out that the search leads to the manger.

The search leads to Jesus. And offering everything that we have and are to this Babe in the manger, we begin to realize

the best that we could ever be because knowing Jesus, we are led to living our lives to the fullest and become an Epiphany of Jesus for our brothers and sisters!

“Ignorance of Scripture is ignorance of Christ.”

-St Jerome

SEE YOU THERE!

Families Bless Their Homes in the NEW YEAR! A Simple DIY Blessing for your family to share: Gather the family at the main entrance of your home, open the door and stand on the inside facing out. (Holy Water and a Candle are optional but encouraged) Prayer leader or head of the household begins with the Sign of the Cross, “In the Name of the FATHER, and of the SON and of the HOLY SPIRIT. Amen.”

Lord God of heaven and earth, you revealed your only-begotten Son to every nation by the guidance of a star. Bless this house and all who inhabit it. Fill them (us) with the light of Christ, that their (our) concern for others may reflect your love. We ask this through Christ our Lord. R/. Amen. Take this time to Bless the entrance and all family members gathered with the Holy Water. The leader con-cludes the rite by signing himself or herself with the sign of the cross and saying: May Christ Jesus dwell with us, keep us from all harm,

and make us one in mind and heart, now and forever. R/. Amen. Sing your favorite Hymn of praise or a song of thanksgiving. Then close the door. Enjoy your NEW YEAR!
