Weekly Reflection:11th Sunday of Ordinary Time – Year B

The seed of the Reign of God With all that we see happening in the world, we probably ask: “Where is God? And why is he not doing anything to help us?” To questions such as these, we hear Jesus telling us the us the Parables of the Growing Seed and the Mustard Seed . The Parable of the growing seed tells us that the Reign of God will definitely come about as its seed has a built-in power to grow to maturity while the second teaches that His Reign, though of humble beginnings, is destined for greatness. There is one thing though about God's Reign that we should be conscious of: it is al-ready here but at the same time, is not yet. Already here because Christ had established it with His coming. Not yet, because truth, justice, love, and peace have yet to permeate all aspects of human activities. God is continually at work and in due time His Reign will be established in its fullness. But this is not God's work alone. He desires that we participate in its fulfilment. God provides the grace necessary it is up for us to put them into good use. We are called to be God's partner in making this world just as He intends it to be. We

want this world to be filled with love, then let us sow the seed of love not only in our own families but in the entire community. We want truth and justice to prevail, then let us sow these seeds by being truthful and honest in the smallest things. We want peace,

then let us be the channel of this peace that comes from God through the patience and forgiveness that we share with others. In short, we want a better world, then let it begin with me!

“Ignorance of Scripture is ignorance of Christ.”

SECOND COLLECTION FOR JUNE 24 & 25 The Peter’s Pence Collection (PPC) has ancient roots, link-ing back to New Testament times when people would pro-vide material support to those preaching the Gospel for dis-tribution to those in need (see Acts 4:34- 35, 11:29). Today, the collection is the way we, as members of the Catholic Church, unite ourselves to the concerns of the Holy Father. Donations to this collection support the charitable works of Pope Francis for the relief of those most in need. How Pope Francis Invites Us to Make the World Less Cold and More Just Pope Francis has en-couraged us not to “fall into indifference but become instru-ments of God’s mercy.”1 Each of us has been called to be an instrument of God’s mercy and to be a witness of charity. For “it is precisely in the measure to which we open our-selves to others that life becomes fruitful, society regains peace and people recover their full dignity.”2 How We Can Join Pope Francis and Be a Witness of Charity By support-ing this collection, you assist the charitable works of Pope Francis. Your generosity is a witness to charity and helps the Holy See reach out compassionately to those who are mar-ginalized.

How You Can Help? PRAY: Pray for the Holy Father as he reaches out compas-sionately to make the world less cold and more just and for those around the world who are suffering and will benefit from this collection. SHARE: To spread the message of mercy and peace, share this flier with someone who might be interested and tell oth-ers how Pope Francis supports the marginalized. GIVE: Please give generously to this collection as a witness

of charity and offer hope to those who suffer around the globe.

Sacramental Marriage Validation Celebration (continued)

St. Joseph will have a centennial event of a Mass Marriage Validation with Bishop Silva on March 23, 2019 at 2:00 pm at St. Joseph Church. Couples who wish to have a sacramental marriage in the church or wish to have their marriage annulled should contact their parish priest. St. Joseph couples can contact Rose Nunogawa at 935-1465. Pope Francis recently streamlined the process for a declaration of nullity to make the process short-er. He also eliminated the fees. If a person is able to prove in this process that their prior marital bond was invalid for some reason, the he or she can marry in the Catholic Church or validate a cur-rent civil marriage. Marriage Preparation will include: Prenuptial interview Completion of documentation Communication Session Seminar on Marriage Sacramental Session with Parish Priest Civil Marriages will need: Civil Marriage Certificate and Baptismal Certificates (for Catholics) Couples Living Together will need: Baptismal Certificate Document (for Catholics) Divorced Couples will need: Annulment number or certificate (from Tribunal & Canonical Office) Divorce decree (from lawyer) Marriage certificate (from State Health Dept) Baptismal certificate (for Catholics) Interested couples should call their Parish priest—St. Joseph couples can contact Rose Nunogawa.
