August 1-2 - Dunster 100th Anniversayr Celebrations. Saturday features socalizing, a farmers market, local burgers, art, photography and quilt exhibits, dinner and dance featur-ing the Drunken Midnight Howlers. Community worship service on the riverbank Sunday morning, brunch and more socializing and lots of other events.Throughout Dunster at the school, the hall and the picnic grounds. August 1-2 – Mud Racing at Canoe Mountain Rodeo Grounds. North West Mud Racing Association sanctioned events, plus Saturday night dance under the parachute.

August 3 – BC Day (long weekend)

August 5 & 19 - Summer Street Festival hosted by the McBride Youth Committee is at 6:30pm on Main Street in McBride. Food Truck will be on site.

August 6 – The Valemount Legion will be hosting a BBQ dinner and fundraiser for the Military Police National Motorcycle Relay. Public event to support the ride and the Military Police Fund for Blind Children.

August 14th - Summer Outdoor Concert at the Valemount Museum featuring “Sarah Jane Scouten”, 7pm-9pm Bring

your lawn chair, no alcohol. Advance tickets $12 at museum and Infinity. At the door $15 adult and $10 students, senior and museum members.

August 14-16 – 11th Annual Robson Valley Music Festival, with almost 40 musical and performing acts as well as multi-media workshops and local crafts and artists. Presented by the Robson Valley Music Society. Located at the Festival Grounds (also known as Seth and Shara’s place) in Dunster. Check out www.robsonvalleymusicfestivalbc.com

Aug. 19-21: Parkour summer camp at the Tete Jaune Lodge, for youth aged 12-18. Sponsored by CBT’s Community Di-rected Youth Funds program. Contact the Learning Centre to register and for more information: 250-566-4601

September 5-6 – 34th Annual Fishing Derby at Valemount Marina, with trophies for kids, Ladies and Men, presented by Valemount Marina Association: valemountmarina.com .

Sept 12 - Mount Robson Marathon, featuring 50km Ultra Marathon, Half Marathon, Kinney Lake 12km, Flatlander 5 km run and fun runs for the kids, presented by Yellowhead Outdoor Recreation Association and BC Parks. Check out www.mountrobsonmarathon.ca for more info.

Ongoing events:Tee ball for kids aged 3-6, Mondays and Wednesdays at

6:00 o’clock at the main ball diamond in Valemount. Will continue throughout the summer if enough kids keep show-ing up. No charge, but bring a glove.

Fridays from 5-7 – Burger Night at the Valemount Legion.

Starting July 7 - Kids Food Camp hosted by The Open Gate Garden. Tuesdays, 10-11:30am for ages 7-12 and Thursdays, 10-11:30am for ages 4-7. Planting/growing/cooking/eating. To register, call Nancy at 250-968-4358 or email [email protected].

July 2 – August 27th Thursdays from 1-3pm - Children’s Summer Heritage Program for ages 5-12 years. Snacks and refreshments provided, register at the Valemount Museum.

July 7th-August 27th - The Valemount Museum’s summer students are hosting the Library’s summer reading program on Tuesday’s at 1pm, for children aged 6-12 years.

Every night in August at 7:00 pm – Valemount Visitor Center presents Salmon Interpretive talks at the Spawning Grounds (George Hicks Park).

The Robson Valley Community Centre is available for bookings, and the fit pit, the converta-court and the ice area are open daily at the Recreation Centre. Check out the Facebook pages for up to date info.

Canada Day Celebrations at Steve Kolida Park in McBride – Games, BBQ, fireworks, facepainting! Celebrations begin at 11am, and culminate with fireworks at 10:30pm. Teddy Bear health and blood pressure clinic hosted by McBride paramedics - don’t forget your injured teddyCanada Day Celebrations at the Valemount Visitor Centre – 9am to 8:30pm – souvenirs, trivia and puzzles, and interpretive displays. Canada Day Celebrations at the Valemount Museum 11am – 2pm. Live music, cake and ice cream, and the Robson Valley Square Dancers!Canada Day Celebrations at the Valemount Legion - burgers from 5-7, then Canadian CCMA Award Winner Shawn Hogan! Music starts at 7:30 (gives you time to get to the fireworks after!) Tickets are $20.

Canada Day Celebrations at the Valemount Sportsplex – starting at 6pm, Annual Lions BBQ; Kids Zone - face painting, games and crafts; music by the Yellowhead Ramblers and the Drunken Midnight Howlers starting at 8:00; refreshments, cotton candy and souvenirs by donation with proceeds to the Valemount Children’s Activity Society; Cake cutting at 9pm, followed by fireworks at 10pm.!Canada Day at the Mt. Robson Visitor Info Centre. Free cake at noon. Live music 11-3, local artisan fair 10-3, local authors doing book signings. Mounties in uniform available for photo opps. Lots of kids activities including face painting, scavenger hunt, colouring contest and Jerry the Moose! Activities start at 9a.m. and go until around 3p.m.
