St. Peter’s will be open each day from 7AM to 4PM (please
note the change in time) for prayer before the Blessed Sac-
rament. Those who come to church for personal prayer
need to recognize the risk of possible unintended exposure
to the coronavirus and refrain if they are sick or at a great-
er risk of susceptibility to COVID-19.
BISHOP MARK HAS ANNOUNCED dates to resume the
Sacrament of Reconciliation, the distribution of Holy Com-
munion and the public celebration of Mass in the Diocese of
Altoona-Johnstown. According to the Bishop’s directives, is-
sued on May 20, 2020, priests may resume the public celebra-
tion of Reconciliation beginning on May 23, 2020.
The Distribution of Holy Communion to the faithful may begin
on June 1, 2020, while continuing the celebration of private
Masses.
The celebration of public Masses may resume on the weekend
of June 13-14, 2020.
Beginning Saturday, May 23, 2020, pastors and administrators
may resume the regular public celebration of the Sacrament of
Penance/Reconciliation with these requirements:
Confessions will be offered on Saturday at 2:45 PM. Beginning
on Tuesday May 26, confessions will be heard daily at 1:30. I
will be in the Grooms room, which has been converted to a
confessional, and Msgr. Tomaselli will be in the Sacristy, as I

St. Peter School PTA Golf Tournament Cancelled The St. Peter School PTA Golf Tournament that was to be held
June 26th has been cancelled do the Coronavirus pandemic. With
continued limitations at the state level as well as a concern for
businesses who may be struggling financially, we will set our
sights on the Spring of 2021. Special thanks to the David Sube
and Troy Lohr families for their hard work organizing this year’s
event, the Somerset Country Club for their cooperation and sup-
port and to the businesses who pledged their support and participa-
tion. God bless and see you next year!

AND PUBLIC CELEBRATION OF MASS
Pastors and administrators may begin the distribution of Holy
Communion to the faithful on June 1, 2020, while continuing

Beginning June 14, 2020, the Solemnity of the Most Holy
Body and Blood of Christ (Corpus Christi Sunday), pastors
and administrators may begin the public celebration of Mass
while continuing the Distribution of Holy Communion accord-
ing to the same directives.

CONGRATULATIONS TO SEMINARIAN
MARK GROGER TO BE ORDAINED DEACON
Bishop Mark will ordain two diocesan seminarians as transitional
deacons as scheduled.
Mark Groeger and Michael Pleva will be ordained next Saturday,
May 30 during a private, invitation-only Mass. The Diocese of
Altoona-Johnstown Office of Communications will live-stream
the liturgy on the diocesan website and Facebook page beginning
at 10:00AM on that day.
Mark Groeger is a member of Saint Peter’s Parish in Somerset;
Michael Pleva belongs to Holy Rosary Parish in Altoona. Both
attend Saint Vincent Seminary in Latrobe and are scheduled to be
ordained to the priesthood next year.

The last day of school for the 2019-2020 school year will be
Friday, May 22nd. We will have a final drop off of all text-
books, work packets and school Ipads on Friday, May 22nd
and families have received details about that drop off in
emails. Students will also receive their Summer Reading
folders and 2020-2021 School Supply Lists and final belong-
ings at the Drop off on May 22nd. Report Cards will be
mailed to families the first week in June.
The school office is open from 8am -2pm most days during
the week but visitors and people in the building are restricted
so please call the school in the event anything is needed. The
administration is also monitoring all emails daily as well.
While final plans for our St. Peter School Class of 2020 grad-
uation mass are still pending, we want to announce and cele-
brate these students at this time. Their number may be small,
but they have the heart and spirit of any class 10 times it’s
size. Their leadership and example have made our school
better and we will deeply miss them as they move on. Pre-

Please reserve the date and participate with the parish in
this important social and fundraising endeavor.
OUR AUCTION has been very successful in the past. Each
parish family is asked to donate a minimum of $25 item to
our auction. There are several ways to donate either with a
gift certificate, a new item, or a donation of cash for us to
purchase larger items. There is a need for gift certificates
for retailers and restaurants, sports items, professional ser-
vices, game tickets, and memorabilia.
OUR DELICIOUS BBQ CHICKEN & RIB DINNERS
will be available throughout the day along with other picnic
foods in the parish hall starting at 11AM.
RAFFLE: Tickets have been mailed out. Returns should
be made to the rectory via mail or collection. If you didn’t
get them please contact the Rectory.
THEME BASKET RAFFLE will be held in our parish
hall. Theme baskets with a retail value of $25 or more are
needed. Be creative! Call the rectory as soon as possible
with your basket theme. Baskets may be brought to the
rectory anytime during business hours.
ICE CREAM BOOTH—We will need ice cream for the
ice cream booth. Please call the rectory to find out what
kind of flavors and sizes needed.
USED BOOK SALE: It’s time to start gathering up your
“good condition” used books. Please do not bring in ency-
clopedias, magazines, or books that are musty, old or in
poor condition. Books may be dropped off starting the first
