The Wisemen from the East discover that creation and revelation bring them to Jesus. The Church has always affirmed “the heavens are telling the glory of God” (Psalm 19:1) – the Book of Creation – as does the Book of Scripture, which according to Psalm 19, is to “be desired more than fine gold.” (verse 10) Along with Fr Terry and Deacons Tom, Stephen and Troy we wish you a grace-filled 2019. It is our prayer that at St. Peter’s we will discover more fully how in these two books we are directed to Jesus, inspiring us to have a worshipful heart bowing before our Divine King. Pastor’s Perspective

I so appreciate the richness of the Christmas Season which concludes this weekend with the Feast of the Epiphany. Each year we rehearse the Story of the Incarnation – when God assumes human nature. On this Feast Day we celebrate the unveiling of Christ’s incarnation as the Divine King. But as was true for the Magi, so is true today, we need the mind and heart to see King Jesus. Think about star in the heavens. We can call this star representative of the Book of Creation. The Magi get guidance from that book and make their way to Jerusalem. But in order to

locate Jesus in Bethlehem they need a second book, that of the Scriptures. When they get there what happens? They go into the house where they find Jesus, with Mary his mother, and they fall down and worship him. The word used here for worship, proskyneō, literally means to bow down prostrate before someone. It means to get down like a dog before another person. SOCIETY of ST. VINCENT de PAUL

God bless St. Peter’s! SSVP at St. Peter’s delivered 70

Christmas hampers this year. These included 66 hampers

with food and gifts, plus last-minute requests for

Christmas food hampers. God bless everyone who

donated food, gifts, time and prayers to this important

project!

Your gifts of non-perishable food items, cash & grocery

cards sustain SSVP in the months that follow Christmas.

Since January to April are SSVP’s busiest months, SSVP

relies on Christmas donations to help people through that

period.

Cash, grocery cards and gifts of non-perishable food are

always welcome. Please consider buying a pantry staple

when you get your groceries. You or your children are

welcome to leave these items in the SSVP box at the back

of the pantry. Volunteers deliver these items to pantry

shelves.

Hamper staples: Hearty soups, canned fish & meat,

PB, pasta sauce and canned beans.

Vincentians pray for our benefactors and the people we

serve.
