A Note from Fr. Craig Dear Parishioners, Tuesday is the feast day of St. Leo the Great. We have holy cards for you to take home. St. Leo the Great was born in Tuscany. He was pope from 440-461. He was known to stop the barbarian invasion of Attila the Hun at the gates of Rome. The statue that we have depicts this. He was the first to be called Great. He wrote many letters and delivered many sermons on the person of Christ. He also developed the teaching on the primacy of St. Peter and the authority of the Pope. Pope Leo the Great, Pray for us. We do have a piece of his bone attached to the Icon in Church. Wednesday is Veterans Day. We honor and pray for our veterans and thank them for their service to our country. It is also the feast day of St. Martin of Tours. He followed in the footsteps of his dad and entered the military. One day while leaving the city he encountered a beggar at the city gates. He was half clothed so Martin took off his cloak and ripped it in half and gave a piece to the beggar. The other half we have today as a relic. Martin finished his duty in the military and was always interested in the Catholic Church and was baptized. He was a follower of St. Hilary. He later would be ordained a Bishop. We ask for his intercession for all our service men and women. I thank the group that has come and prayed the rosary every night at 6:30 for our country and all other intentions. What a blessing. Have a great week. Fr Craig
In Pursuit of Life, Love and Happiness
By: Deacon Jim Shipman Have you ever known when God has spoken to you or have you heard a scripture or a sermon that really touched your heart? If you have experienced moments like these, you have experienced the Holy Spirit‘s Gift of WISDOM working in your life. We desire to know something greater than ourselves. Our soul thirsts to know and be with Our God. The key to fulfill that desire is the Gift of Wisdom. Our First Reading today said, “Wisdom is readily perceived by those who love her, and found by those who seek her.” When the Gift of Wis-dom is in our lives, it perfects the Cardinal Virtue of Prudence. This virtue allows us to make the correct decisions and to follow God’s Will. We will also realize when Our Lord is speaking to us and direct-ing our lives. In today’s Gospel Jesus is telling the parable of the two groups of virgins. One group is prepared to meet the Lord when He comes to the Heavenly Marriage Feast and the other group is not. The unpre-pared virgins represent those peo-ple who claim they want to be with the Lord, but have not prepared their lives accordingly. In the con-clusion of the Gospel, Jesus said, “'Amen, I say to you, I do not know you.' Therefore, stay awake, for you know neither the day nor the hour." We all need to heed this warning and prepare ourselves to be ready. We must be wise and prudent children of God and be prepared for the Heavenly Mar-riage Feast. We must prayerfully ask God for the Gift of Wisdom. Then we will know His Will and feel His Holy Presence guiding our lives.
A Note from Janet Drvol Hi everyone! Sorry you haven’t heard from me in a while. As some of you know, August 28th I had an extremely serious fall. I dislocated my knee. This resulted in me damaging, in varying degrees, all 4 knee ligaments, my main lower leg artery, and lower leg nerve system. I had emergency trau-ma surgeries (2) to put my knee in place, put rods/pins into my leg to keep it in place, and a second surgery to transplant a new artery from my left leg to my right in order to keep my leg from amputation. I spent almost all of September in the hospital or Madonna rehab. I’ve spent all of October at my parents waiting on a third surgery. I can not put weight on my right leg and do not have feeling or movement in parts of my lower leg, ankle, and foot. My 3rd surgery was Nov. 3rd to repair my knee (all 4 ligaments) and re-move the external fixator (keeping my knee in place). We hope this sur-gery will go well with no further damage to the knee, arteries, or nerves. We also hope that this will help me start to heal my ability to move and feel my ankle/foot. At this time, it may take up to a year for me to recover nerve damage, and it is up in the air whether or not I’ll ever full heal. Please keep me, my doctors, nurses, and parents in your prayers as I re-cover. With all of this and Covid numbers going up, my plan is to wait until Janu-ary to restart youth group. Please watch for more info. God bless you and I miss you all! Also, a big thank you to all those who sent notes, prayers, and other forms of support. Please know it is very appreciated!

~ Praying For Vocations ~ Jesus asked us to pray not that the Lord will send more laborers into the harvest, but that those he calls will respond. There is no shortage of vocations whatsoever. There is a shortage, sometimes, of response. St. Junipero Serra, pray for us. Without priests there is no Eucharist. Without Eucharist there is no Church.

Veterans Day Dear God, you have called your people to many walks of life. Some like St. Francis were called to a life of peace and oth-ers to the life of a soldier and warrior. David, the Maccabees, Sts. Joan, George and Martin all were called by you to take up arms in the service and protection of their citizens. On this day, bless those who have given their time, talents, and in some cases their lives, to protect our freedoms. Guide them in their tours of duty. Comfort the wounded and their families. Remind us to appreci-ate their sacrifices. Turn the hearts and minds of our leaders and our enemies to the work of justice and a harvest of peace. +Amen.

"GOOD NEWS" FROM ST. PIUS X / ST. LEO SCHOOL Hello St. Pius X / St. Leo Community members! I hope and pray that you all continue to stay healthy and safe, especially dur-ing this pandemic and with what has been an increase in cases of people test-ing positive for COVID-19 in Douglas County. Please know that we continue to be very mindful in monitoring all things COVID-19 related and how it can im-pact our school community. I am also keeping all of you in my prayers, espe-cially all of you who have been affected or have family members who have been affected by this disease. Although this has been a unique school year that has resulted in us having to do so many things different, I am still so impressed by all that I have seen around our school and the learning that is taking place. I our Pre-K classes, my heart is full watching our youngest learners get the crucial social time with their peers to learn through play. Recently, in kindergarten, our students made rosaries and got to celebrate Halloween with their friends in their homeroom parties. In keeping with that fall theme, 1st grade had wonderful time with their “Pumpkin Week” and the 1st grade students (and the teachers) loved teasing me about my lit-eral fear of pumpkins and how excited they were to cut them open and explore all of the fun things there is to know about pumpkins. They all agreed that Mr. Sepich is a little bit crazy for not liking something so cool. In 2nd grade, the students got to make Picasso inspired Frankenstein artwork as well as prepare for First Reconciliation. Also, in 3rd grade while celebrating Halloween, our teachers tied in how the Holy Trini-ty is a lot like a piece of candy corn, 3 persons in 1 and the teachers were super impressed by how the 3rd grade students wrote plans on how they will try and become Saints. I also had the pleasure to stop by 4th grade and watch the students discuss the story “Lou Gehrig: The Luckiest Man” and give examples of modern day athletes and celebrities showing how to be humble, generous and kind and not selfish and ar-rogant. I was impressed by how many real world connections the 4th graders made. In 5th grade, the stu-dents are learning all about America’s first and indigenous people while also working on their inferencing and summary skills. For our 6th graders in math, our students were working on fractions with divisibility rules, prime/composite, prime factorization, and LCM and GCF and in the accelerated math class is begin-ning Order of Operations with whole numbers, decimals, and integers. I was never a math teacher or a great math student, so I am so impressed by how much more these students know than I ever did. Lastly, I have been lucky to have spent a lot of time the past few weeks in 7th and 8th grade and interacting with the students and just getting a chance to connect with them socially and see them enjoy each other’s com-pany. It hasn’t been easy with some of the restrictions for our 7th and 8th graders and how social they are but it has been reassuring to see them all show their resiliency while also making the best out of the time they do get to share with interacting with their peers and the faculty and staff. These are only just a few examples of what our students experienced the past few weeks with their amaz-ing teachers and I know our school community is grateful that they have had these opportunities to learn in person and that our students would not be able to share in these experiences if we were to go to remote learning. Thank you all for doing all you can to be careful and safe outside of school so we can continue to have these experiences inside of school. We want to continue to have these opportunities to learn in per-son and pray that we can have more freedom if we continue to do our best to get through this pandemic responsibly. God bless, Dr. Cory Sepich, Principal
