• Take a broad range of courses in ecology and sustainable development, while building your business acumen with project management courses.

• Complete a real-world research project; past projects include estimating the population density of local deer, exploring corporate sustainability goal setting and studying the impact of fracking on groundwater.

• Choose an issue related to sustainability, and collaborate on a scientific project with a corporation, research institute or government agency in the U.S. or abroad.

• Travel to Costa Rica in May of your first year to study sustainable development, and learn field research strategies at stations across three ecosystems.

• Intern at the site of your choice anywhere in the world — example sites include South Texas, United Nations agencies in Europe or returning to Costa Rica.

APPLICATION AND SELECTION PROCESSIdentifying the strongest candidates for admission to the graduate programs at St. Edward’s involves a careful process of evaluation. The admission committee considers whether the applicant has demonstrated the ability to succeed in a rigorous graduate program through the review of his/her grade point average, previous academic coursework, résumé, essay and recommendation letters. You should also have competitive scores on the GRE or GMAT.
