For my product I will receive a certification for underwater diving, or scuba diving. I will do this by taking a 3 day course that teaches one the basics of scuba diving and allows one to practice diving in a pool and within a reef. My facilitator will be my course instructor, and the class all together should be around 20 hours. Once I am certified, I plan to make a trip down to Florida where I can use my new skills to observe underwater wildlife within different reefs along the coast

Product: Getting Certified

In 2011, my dad and I went snorkeling in the Caribbean, and I fell in love with the idea of studying wildlife underwater. I have not scuba dived before, but that is why I’m taking the class.

Why?

Learning to scuba dive is a skill completely different than any other skill I have acquired. It will take a different type of training than I’m used to, and it will push my body to an uncomfortable state to become comfortable with breathing underwater.

The course will take 3 days to complete.

I have not scheduled a date yet, but the center is located in Marrietta.

When and Where

The cost is steep, around 400 dollars. My parents will help me with funding this project.

My project facilitator will be my course instructor who is teaching me how to dive.

He/she will be a fully licensed diver, and is teaching a class on how to dive.

Finance and Facilitator

I need to prepare myself by studying the handbook all beginner divers are sent that tell you the basics of diving. It is also a requirement to be physically fit.

I will be able to legally scuba dive for life once I get my certification. This project will be good preparation for a major in marine biology. I am not sure if I want this to be my major yet, but I’m sure this project will influence my decision.

Preparation and What it Prepares Me For

I will present videos and pictures of me getting certified, and going on my personal dive. I will explain the steps and lessons I had to complete while taking the course, and how difficult or easy it was to complete.
