SnapMap

SnapMap can deliver significant time and cost savings to

pipeline refurbishment projects simply by combining fresh

oblique aerial photography of the pipeline network in

conjunction with a detailed moving network map.

In SnapMap, pipeline routes can be viewed in the office,

eliminating numerous costly and time-consuming field trips,

whilst hugely increasing efficiency and safety levels.

SnapMap’s far-reaching pipeline applications are applicable

throughout a refurbishment project from an initial

assessment of condition to a post-refurbishment comparison

record.

The over-lapping wide-angle 39 Megapixel photography

taken at regular intervals along the route centerline, provides

very high detail of ground features whilst when zoomed out

shows the route in its local context.

Both the imagery and mapping from SnapMap can be used in

external digital documents, letters or reports, and we can

provide the files necessary for use within your existing GIS

system if required.

Population Density Buffers/Buildings show human

impact

Each entry in the Index tool (broken down into categories

such as Crossing types (RDX, RLX, RVX etc),

Landowner/Occupier/Agent, Placenames, Building Names,

AGI’s and Markers to name a few), instantly displays the

relevant map and image when selected making navigation of

your network very simple.

Pipeline in Context

Each image in SnapMap is geo-referenced so that you may

overlay your CAD and GIS data. By placing the various map

layers onto up-to-date high-resolution imagery, project teams

can accurately visualize the positive real-world impact of the

proposed project.

Bi-products from geo-referencing the images are that

Pipeliner’s can measure distances, find coordinates, calculate

feature proximity to the centerline and calculate population

densities along the route, all from the oblique image. All of

which save a lot of time in the field and provide very useful

information.

Project Delivery

We ensure flexibility by rigging our portable equipment to a

locally hired helicopter. Project turn-around times vary but

are generally very quick in order that you may quickly start to

use freshly filmed photography to help make your decisions.
