1. Introduction
The objective of this document is to present the advanced feature and “How to Use” to
SMI Video Wall End User.
2. How To Use
2.1 SW Setup
a. Open “SMIVideoWallSW.exe” to setup, it will show you the following information.
b. Click “Install” and wait it completed.

c. Click “Reboot”button to reboot your computer, and you will see the shortcut icon on the desktop.
2.2 How to play 8K video smoothly
before wall building a. Open “Device Manager”, Find “Display adapters” and ensure there is an Intel Graphic adapter.
b. Right click “Intel Graphics” then disable it and reboot.

c. Please use “PotPlayer” play video and set “Video Render”option to “Built in Direct3D 11 Video
Render”.

2.3 Function introduction
2.3.1 Language settings
Click “Language” menu to change the working language. Currently, only support Chinese/English
switching.

2.3.2 Display quality
Click “Display quality” menu to change the image quality. Currently, the level is divided into Best,
High, Middle and Low.

2.3.3 Network Hub
Click “Network Hub” menu to connect the network hub. The server will find the Network Hub clients in
the same LAN.

2.3.4 VW Performance settings
There are three VW Performance modes, "Balance", "Best Performance" and "Best Quality".
NOTE:
1. If the license supports 8K, the output image pixels of "Best Quailty" mode is nearly 7680*4320
pixels, "Balance" is corresponding to nearly 3840*2160 pixels and "Best Performance" is corresponding
to nearly 1920*1080 pixels.
2. If the license supports 4K, the output image resolution of "Best Quailty" mode is nearly
3840*2160 pixels, "Balance" is corresponding to nearly 2560*1440 pixels and "Best Performance" is
corresponding to nearly 1920*1080 pixels.
2.3.5 The limited of display monitor matrix
If the license or key support 32 monitor quantity.
The row is selected to 8; and the column’s range is limited to 1-4.

2.3.6 Display monitor resolution
In Matrix wall, if no monitor plug in the broad, the default monitor resolutions are 1080P
[1920*1080], and 720P [1280*720].
If monitors are plugged in, the monitor resolution is decided by EDID; For example, if plug in one 2k
monitor, the monitor resolution will be refresh;
In Art wall, the monitor resolution will be set [1920 *1080].

2.3.7 Create Video Wall
a. Click "Create" button to create a video wall, you can see a new view in the OS control panel. And
you can change the video wall performance, orientation and the display monitor matrix that you want to
set before you click "Create" button.
Then click "Create" button, it will pop up a prompt:
If you click "OK", the video wall will be created successfully when the Wall topology is shown in the
Control Panel:

b. Drag monitor icon form "Connected Display Monitors" to "Video Wall Topology", then the corresponding
monitor will display extended view's graphic data. If drag monitor icon from " Video Wall Topology" to
Connected Display Monitors", the corresponding monitor will show monitor ID.

2.3.8 Reset Video Wall
If you want to reset video wall, please click “Reset” button.
2.3.9 Bezel compensation
Bezel Correction only supports input nonnegative number.Projection Fusion only supports input non-
positive number.(Input number, then click “Enter Key” to take effect. Or you can click “plus
button” or “minus button” to set the bezel value.)

2.3.13 Identify
In the process of testing, you can click “Identify” button to check monitor’s ID.

2.3.15 Art Wall
Drag monitor icon form "Connected Display Monitors" to "VideoWall Topology".
How to move and rotate the Monitor:
1, Click Red circle “○”
2, Left key to move monitor

While selected one monitor which is be dragged to the “VideoWall Topolofy”,the information of
selected monitor will be shown as below.
Click "-" or "+" button to rotate monitor one degree counter-clockwise or one degree clockwise. Click
"↑" , "↓", "←" or "→" button to move monitor up one pixel, downward one pixel, to the left one
pixel or to the right one pixel.
You can also enter angles and positions on the control panel to move the selected monitor. Meanwhile
you can see "Current Monitor ID", "Angle" and "Physical Center Position" information on the control
panel when you move or rotate the monitor.
NOTES: 1. Angle Input can only be positive, that is, clockwise rotation. And the positive value will be converted to the value between “0 ~ 360”. 2. The "Physical Center Position" refers to the central position of the monitor, so when the monitor is moved to the upper left corner, the coordinates are (960, 540).

About Dialog will show you the video wall software’s information. Includes version and supported
features.

2.3.17 USB Key
1. The software is not activated and it cannot be used.
Open the Control Panel and it will prompt the message to user "The software is not activated,please
use license or USB key to activate!" ,and it will disable the "Create" button until it is activated.
The ‘About’ contents are shown in the following figure:
2. License and USB key cannot be used at the same time.
a、If the user chooses activate the software by license (sm769 chip is required), when the activation
is successful, if the USB key is detected, the Control Panel will pop up a message box shown in the
following figure to remind the user;
b、If the host has been activated by license, and plug in another video wall chip, the Control Panel
will pop up a message box shown in the following figure to remind the user, and the ‘About’ will
show the ‘No key’ status.

c、If the host is not activated by license or USB Key, and plug in the USB Key, then the "Create"
button will been enabled and the‘About’ contents are shown in the following figure:
If the user plug out the USB Key now, the Control Panel will pop up a message box shown in the
following figure to remind the user, and the ‘About’ will show the ‘No key’ status.
3.Support the use of multiple USB keys.
Users can use multiple USB keys to activate the software, and finally get the intersection of all the
features supported by USB keys and the supported max monitor quantity is accumulated.
4. Restore the function of the wall under the condition of USB key activation.
If you plug out all USB keys while restarting the video wall service or computer, the wall will
continue to restore, but the service will not send data.

4. Trouble shooting
SMI video wall – Troubleshooting common problems
NOTE: The SMI Video Wall device only support work with USB3.0 protocol.
Symptoms Suggested solution
Software installed failed 1. Ensure the OS version is Windows 10.
2. Ensure do reboot after software install.
3. Please make sure that the old version of the
software has been uninstalled before installation.
Video wall monitor Show ID failed
and black screen
1. Make sure the HDMI cable attached to the monitor is
tightly secured to the video port of Video Wall Box.
2. Do USB PnP or power off & power on to make it
normal.
Matrix wall create failed 1. Ensure SMI Video Wall Controller have been
installed successful in Device Manager.
2. Ensure SMI Video Wall Client have been recognized
successful in Device Manager.
3. Enter BIOS setup and make “Security Boot” option
DISABLE.
Using license active software
failed
1. Ensure the network connection is good.
2. Ensure the device connected successful with host.
3. Ensure the license used had not been active.
If you still meet this issue, please contact us and
provide relevant proof, we will provide after-sale
service for you.
USB key activation failed 1. Ensure the USB port work well.
2. Ensure whether the trial USB key expired.
3. Try to plug out & in USB key to make it normal.
4. Try to reboot then check whether the USB key is
activated successfully.

The USB ports are not functioning
on the Video Wall Box.
1. Ensure that the host is connected with the Video
Wall Box. Try to disconnect and reconnect again with
the video wall station.
2. If your BIOS setup has a USB Enabled/Disabled
option, make sure that it is set to Enabled.
3. Check the USB ports. Try plugging the USB device
into another port.
4. Please check if the plugged device is shown in the
Windows Device Manager.
Video wall video playback have lags
obviously or CPU load is high
1.If wall resolution is about 4K, make sure the
platform hardware configuration meets the
requirements(recommend i5-8500 CPU &dual channel),
and ensure the running graphics is integrated
graphics.
2. If wall resolution is about 8K, make sure the
platform hardware configuration meets the
requirements(recommend i7-8700 K CPU & NVIDIA 1060 &
dual channel).
3. Ensure the integrated graphics have been disable.
Make sure the Intel &NVIDIA graphics driver is the
latest version.
4. Try to use Pot Player instead of Movies & TV player
to play video(Note: Enable Pot Player video render DX
11).
