SCHOOL NEWS

Another busy week down, as we approach the mid-way point of Term 3. Classes have continued to practise for

our upcoming musical, with actions starting to be developed for each of their songs they have been singing.

School council also met on Thursday with lots of things discussed in regards to grounds and maintenance, includ-

ing the reroofing of the office building and refurbishment of the gym floor to occur later in the year. Three policies

(Cash Handling, Gifts & Benefits, and Running Away From School Policies) were ratified and are now available

on our school website.

Thank you to everyone who came along to our Disco on Wednesday night. It was great to see

so many smiles on students’ faces as they performed in front of our school community. It is incredible to think our

students managed to learn such tricky dance moves in just 4x30min sessions with JB. I would however, like to take

the opportunity to provide a friendly reminder that when photographing/filming events such as these that par-

ents only post photos/videos of their own children online. If there are other children in the photo/video that you

want to post we ask that you seek permission from the parents of the other children, prior to posting it online.

Over the next two weeks everyone has the opportunity to provide feedback/suggestions for the policies that School Council will be reviewing/developing to be ratified before the end of term. If you

would like to provide feedback on the policies below, feel free to pick-up a copy from the office and provide your

M.A.R.CM.A.R.CM.A.R.CM.A.R.C————HistoryHistoryHistoryHistory

This term we are re-visi=ng the famous author Henry Lawson and

studying the story of The Loaded Dog. Our theme is Stories from the

Past. These stories helped shape our Australian Iden=ty and the

students recalled many known facts about Henry Lawson from last

year’s learning. Senior students have been enjoying the story in 3

parts and learning about the characters by reading between the lines.

Inferen=al reading can tell us a lot about the characters that isn’t ac-

tually wri?en. We have been making predic=ons as we have been

reading and recording new vocabulary from the story. We are geAng

ready to embark on a project of designing a new book cover including

all the essen=al elements. The junior students have wri?en poetry

and stories about dogs, and have made a basic book cover for the

Loaded Dog, including aspects of the Goldfields from our learning in

Term 2.—Mrs Bawden and Ms Norton

PARENTS & FRIENDS ASSOCIATION

We had a wonderful turnout to P&F last night. It was lovely to see families from the younger year levels, Thank you to everyone who supplied supper.

Our next fundraiser is the Bunnings BBQ on Sat 14th September which raises about $2000+. Money will go towards the outdoor play space for a soccer pitch and downball areas.

The roster will be up next week, please come and support the school even if only for an hour. Every person helps. It will be a very slick operation under the coordination of our new BBQ Director!

Tickets for the musical will be on sale very soon. We are trialling online bookings this year through Eventbrite.

Thank you to costume makers and those busy behind the scenes preparing. If anyone has a regal chair fit for a King please see Mr Rodger ASAP .

As always any concerns or queries about school operations or plans don’t hesitate to contact P&F members or School Councillors.
