WELCOME………… To all our visitors this weekend.

Thanksgiving Liturgy We invite all our Parishioners, and their families, to join us as we gather, as a parish family, on Thursday, November

22nd at 8:30 am, to celebrate and express our thanks to God for the many blessings and favors bestowed on us

during the past year. Attention all Lectors

All Lectors are invited to pick up their “Work Book for Lectors…” in the Sacristy this weekend. You will need your new manuals before the First weekend in December, as we will be beginning the season of ADVENT.

“New” to Us Gather HymnalsIn all the pews this weekend you will see green Gather Hymnals.

They are gently used, and purchased at an amazing price, thanks to another Sacred Heart Parish. Please help us to take very good care of them by not trying to put them in the holders in back of each pew. (They won’t fit well and become damaged.) But rather place them on your seat, toward the middle of each pew. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!Music Notes

Do you enjoy singing along with the choir, from your pew? Do you find yourself humming along to the tunes? Then choir is the place for you! Adult Choir and Children's Choir are BOTH looking for new members. Rehearsals are every Wednesday at 6:00pm for Children's Choir and 7:00 pm for Adult Choir. If you are interested in singing with the choir, contact Kathleen Donahue (973-975-7467 or [email protected]) or Dawn Olivares (973-879-1369). 2018 Bishop’s Annual Appeal

Here I Am, Lord! The ability to reach out to people in need through our Bishop’s

Annual Appeal is completely dependent on the number of faithful parishioners who participate by making a gift. That is why every gift counts! Your support helps bring hope to thousands of people who come to our Catholic Charities agencies each year. It also supports seminarian education, our diocesan priests’ residence, extraordinary healthcare needs of our priests and our urban elementary schools. In addition, parishes receive half of all funds received over their parish goals – with a total of over $700,000 being returned to parishes last year alone! Please help your neighbors in need and our parish by making a gift today! For your convenience, you can make an online gift or pledge at www.2018appeal.org.

- Weekly Reflections“HIS WORD TODAY” by Rev. William J. Reilly

Thirty-Third Sunday in Ordinary Time

November 18, 2018 “Brothers and sisters: Every priest

stands daily at his ministry, offering frequently those same sacrifices that can never take away sins. But this one offered one sacrifice for sins, and took His seat forever at the right hand of God. Where there is forgiveness of these, there is no longer offering for sin.”

Jesus is our high priest. When we come to mass our priest leads us in prayer, but he acts only in the person of Christ. It is Jesus who offers the sacrifice of Calvary. Sometimes we know the priest quite well.  At times a visitor or missionary celebrates the Eucharist for us. How special it is that we have someone to, in the words of St. Peter, ‘to lead us to God.’

May we reflect for a moment on the person of the priest. Pray for him, offer him your friendship and support, express your gratitude for his role in leading, teaching, preaching and living the gospel.  Encourage others to follow Christ on the service of the community. Remember your priests who have died, asking the Lord to reward  them for their ministry. Although a priest is often at our side at moments of sickness and death, it is often said that the priest dies alone. Pray for priests.

Sub Tuum PraesidiumWe fly to thy patronage, O holy Mother of God;

Despise not our petitions in our necessities, but deliver Us always from all dangers,

O glorious and blessed Virgin Amen.

THIRTY-THIRD SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

First Reading: Daniel 12:1-3Daniel discusses the end of the world, a time when the dead shall rise and everyone will be judged. He warns that some shall “be an everlasting horror and disgrace.” But he promises that some will live forever, and the wise will shine brightly to lead others to justice.

Second Reading: Hebrews 10:11-14, 18Priests repeatedly offered sacrifices that were unable to take away sin. But through Jesus’ one sacrifice, our sins were forgiven, leaving no need for other offerings.

Gospel: Mark 13:24-32Jesus told his disciples that many signs would be seen before the end of the world. He explained that the earth would pass away but his words would not. He also told them that neither the angels nor himself, but only his Father knew when this would take place.
