Behold the Virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall name him Emmanuel, which means “God is with Us.” Christmas is a season of great joy. Jesus is born among us, and we have cause for joy. God is with us. Often at Christmas our hearts are bursting with excitement and happiness, having family time together, opening gifts, sometimes having the happiness of newly engaged couples, or new births. And we have joy because God is with us. Other times, Christmas can be a time of deep heartache. I have known such Christmases-because tragedy, which doesn’t seem to take a break for holidays, has struck. And – then, too- we can have joy because God is with us. This joy is the kind that sustains us and helps us because it assures us that tragedy does not win: God is with us. Jesus, Emmanuel, came to be with us in happy moments and heartbreaking moments. His presence at every moment gives us joy, sometimes exultant joy, and sometimes the joy underneath sorrow that assures us that God’s being with us will make things turn out right for those who love him. I, and all of us priests and staff here at Sacred Heart, pray that you have a blessed Christmas Season, and experience the joy of God’s being with us. Fr. Brendan Join us at one of our Christmas Masses this weekend. We hope to see you all next weekend, when we begin the New Year by celebrating Our Blessed Mother, before we go to our celebrations, or the next morning at 10:00 am. Although this year’s celebration of “Mary, the Mother of God,” is not a Holy Day of obligation, Sacred Heart will continue to celebrate Our Mother. The times are below and all are most welcome! WELCOME………… To all our visitors this weekend.

Behold the Virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall name him

Emmanuel, which means “God is with Us.”

Christmas is a season of great joy.

Fr. Brendan
