El Programa de ADVANCED PLACEMENT, fue creado por el College Board de los Estados Unidos, con el objeto de ofrecerlo a estudiantes

de bachillerato que destacan en el aspecto académico. El Instituto Anglo de Puerto Vallarta, es una de las escuelas certificadas para impartir algunas materias. En el presente ciclo escolar, las materias de AP son: Biología, Psicología y Arte.

Las ventajas que éste programa ofrece, es que las clases son de nivel Universitario y los crédiitos que los alumnos obtienen, son tomados en

cuenta de una manera muy importante por las Universidades de México, Canadá y Estados Unidos, en el proceso de aceptación de nuevos

alumnos a dichas universidades.

No es entonces una casualidad que los alumnos egresados de el Instituto Anglo, ocupan actualmente un lugar en importantes universidades

tanto en México como en el extranjero, como lo son, el TEC de Monterrey, la Universidad Panamericana, el ITESO, la Universidad de

Guadalajara, M.I.T. en Boston y la Universidad de North Carolina, por mencionar sólo algunas.

En The VIP, festejamos nuestro décimo aniversario, con toda nuestra gratitud a nuestros lectores, colaboradores y patrocinadores, quienes desde el principio han apoyado esta iniciativa. Como diez años ya suenan en la historia, te presentamos un VIP renovado, con una imagen más fresca y dinámica, con mayor alcance ya que inicia su circulación en Guadalajara y Santa Bárbara- California gracias al interés de nuestros lectores y con ello se convierte en un medio mucho más atractivo para nuestros anunciantes.

En efecto, Vallarta Important People es la primer revista creada para la gente de Vallarta; desde su nacimiento abordamos los temas de mayor interés para esta activa comunidad, única en su forma de ser, una mezcla vibrante de locales integrados por mexicanos venidos de todos los rincones del País, residentes extranjeros que han decidido establecer su residencia en este paraíso y al igual que los nacidos en Vallarta,”los pata salada”, a todos nos une el amor y la gratitud por este Puerto, el gusto por su estilo de vida y nos convierte en Vallartenses por igual.

Celebramos también el Día internacional de la mujer. Por ello, en nuestra portada te presentamos 10 mujeres VIP, sobresalientes en nuestra comunidad, cuya labor social es ejemplar pues todas, además, son líderes profesionales en su campo, amas de casa, empresarias, etc., pero, sobre todo, excelentes seres humanos que se entregan de corazón en cada proyecto que inician, con lo que van marcando la diferencia a su paso. Tuvimos oportunidad de disfrutar una amistosa e interesante charla mientras se desarrollaba la sesión fotográfica en el lujoso Hotel Hilton , todas lucieron espléndidas con el maquillaje, a cargo de AGD LUX Salón SPA. Se trata de 10 mujeres de cuyas actividades hemos sido testigos en el transcurso de estos años, y publicado en diversas ocasiones sus logros y entrega a nuestra comunidad. Sin duda son un ejemplo a seguir, y qué mejor ocasión para hacerlo que el mes de marzo. Aquí las tenemos, compartiéndonos sus experiencias y su lucha por la equidad de género.

At The V.I.P. we celebrate our 10th anniversary, with all our gratitude to our readers, partners and sponsors, who have supported this initiative since the beginning . As ten years are a big piece in history, we are presenting a renovated VIP, with a more dynamic and fresh image, with a greater reach since it started its circulation in Guadalajara and Santa Barbara- California. Thanks to the interest of our readers it becomes a much more attractive media for our advertisers. In fact, Vallarta Important People is the first magazine created for the people of Vallarta; since its birth we are dealing with the topics of greatest interest for this active community, unique in its way of being, a mix of vibrant local integrated by Mexicans who had come from all over the country, foreign residents who have decided to establish their residence in this Paradise, and those born in Vallarta, ‘the pata salada”, we are all united by the love and gratitude for this port, as well as the lifestyle that makes us all ” Vallartenses” alike. We also celebrate the International Women’s Day. therefore we present on our cover,10 outstanding VIP women in our community, whose social work is an example for all of us, furthermore, they are professional leaders in their fields, housewives, entrepreneurs, etc., but, above all, excellent humans who deliver their heart in every project that they initiate, Thus making a difference in their path. We had the opportunity to enjoy a friendly and interesting chat while the photo shoot unfolded at the luxurious Hilton Hotel and they all glowed with the makeup done by AGD LUX Salon Spa.

Campoverde Recibe certificación de calidad ISO

El Consejo Consultivo y de Participación Social del Colegio Campoverde, se reunió para recibir un informe y un breve recuento de la actividad del campus Vallarta en sus primeros seis meses de operación. Además, se entregó el documento oficial que acredita su certificación en la norma ISO 9001-2008, con lo que se atestigua la estandarización de sus operaciones con un alto nivel de calidad y garantía de sus resultados. Luis Miguel García, Director del campus y José Manuel Costa, Director general del CAMPI, expresaron su contento con los resultados.

The Consultative Council and Social Participation of the Campoverde College , met to receive a report and a brief account of the activity of the campus Vallarta in its first six months of operation. In addition, the official document that accredits the certification in the norm ISO 9001-2008, which testifies the standardization of operations with a high level of quality and guarantee of its results. VidaFest Circo, comedia y Teatro

Se llevo a cabo en las instalaciones de la presidencia ,el primer “Adopton Vallarta”, evento organizado por el ayuntamiento de Vallarta y varias instituciones que se encargan de buscarle un hogar a animales domesticos abandonados. El evento tenia como fin promover la esterilizacion y el buen cuidado de las mascotas y dar en adopcion a varios perros y gatos abandonados o maltratados.

Recrear a Puerto Vallarta y establecer un vínculo con la población socialmente vulnerable mediante las artes escénicas es la misión principal del VIDAFEST, Festival independiente de circo, comedia y artes, que se llevó a cabo en diferentes áreas del malecón. La compañía Pata de Perro, en coordinación con Sonnos Show Concept, se encargaron de reunir el talento de los participantes para brindar un festival que logre involucrar a las personas, y deleitarlas en el arte.

The company Pata de Perro (paw of dog) , in coordination with Sonnos Show Concept, were commissioned to gather the talents of participants to provide a festival that will involve people, and delight them in art.

La reconocida artista estadounidense, Marta Gilbert, vuelve a llenar con su expresividad a Puerto Vallarta y nos deleita con la sensibilidad de miradas profundas que ya conocemos. A su vez, la artista Diane Walsh y las escultoras Alicia Bueno y Dana o’Donell, presentaron sus piezas como parte de la exposición permanente del museo, que lleva el nombre de la talentosa Marta Gilbert. Una noche llena de sentidos, con agradable música en vivo, luz de vela y vino de honor.

The renowned American artist, Marta Gilbert, again fills Puerto Vallarta with her expressiveness and delights us with the sensitivity of deep looks that we already know. At the same time, artist Diane Walsh and sculptors Alicia Bueno and Dana o’ Donell, presented their pieces of art as part of a permanent exhibition of the Gallery, which bears the name of the talented Marta Gilbert. A night full of senses, with pleasant live music, candlelight and wine of honor.

El Comité de Ciudades Hermanas de Puerto Vallarta/Santa Bárbara inicia un ambicioso proyecto para la Conservación y reactivación del Centro Histórico de Puerto Vallarta a través de la Creación de un comité ciudadano que apoye y promueva acciones en conjunto con el Gobierno de Puerto Vallarta que favorezcan la conservación y reactivación económica del Centro de la ciudad para brindar a sus habitantes y visitantes un lugar de esparcimiento diversificado con contenidos atractivos para toda la familia apoyados en la experiencia del Patronato del Centro Histórico de la ciudad de Santa Bárbara - California.

The Committee of cities Sisters of Puerto Vallarta/Santa Barbara began an ambitious project for the conservation and revitalization of the historic centre of Puerto Vallarta through the creation of a citizens Committee that supports and promotes actions in conjunction with the Government of Puerto Vallarta that will favor conservation and economic revival of down town to provide residents and visitors alike, a place of recreation diversified with engaging content for the whole family supported by the experience of the Board of the historical center of the city of Santa Barbara, California.

La recepción se llevó a cabo en un conocido club de Playa de la Cruz de Huanacaxtle, el cual fue hermosamente decorado con exuberantes flores y aromáticas velas. Los invitados disfrutaron de una deliciosa cena de tres tiempos, a cargo del chef Bernhard Guth, quien la hizo acompañar de generosos vinos. With an elegant and emotional ceremony, the spectacular couple, Sujey Cross and Maurizio Pellegrini, sealed its commitment of love in front of family and friends. The reception was held at a well-known beach club at La Cruz de Huanacaxtle, which was beautifully decorated with lush flowers and aromatic candles. Guests enjoyed a delicious three course dinner, prepared by chef Bernhard Guth, who made it accompanied by generous wines. Joy overflowed into the wee hours of the night with live music, dancing and games for the happy occasion.

The Friendship Club altruism on behalf of children

El Club Internacional de la Amistad, integrado por voluntarios que apoyan diversas causas altruistas, se reunió en un conocido restaurant en torno a una cena cuyo objetivo fue recaudar fondos para el Programa contra del Labio Leporino de Puerto Vallarta, principal misión del Club y que éste viene realizando desde hace 27 años. El programa apoya a alrededor de 300 niños con ortodoncia, terapia de discurso y con la atención de médicos, cirujanos y otros especialistas traídos desde Guadalajara cuatro veces al año para efectuar esta noble labor.

The international Friendship Club, composed of volunteers who support various altruistic causes, met at a renown restaurant for a dinner whose aim was to raise funds for the program against the cleft palate in Puerto Vallarta, the Club’s primary mission that it has been going on for 27 years. The program supports about 300 children with orthodontics, speech therapy and the attention of physicians, surgeons, and other specialists from Guadalajara, brought four times a year to carry out this noble task.

Muy emotivo fue el desayuno que organizó CANICA, institución que apoya a los niños con cáncer de familias de bajos recursos. Al conmemorar el día internacional del niño con este padecimiento, recaudó también fondos para poder seguir la noble causa, toda vez que atiende a decenas de niños de Puerto Vallarta y zonas aledañas. Evelia Basañez, presidenta de la Asociación femenil vallartense, entregó reconocimientos a instituciones, empresas y personas que han ayudado mediante sus donativos en efectivo y en especie.

Very emotional was the breakfast organized by CANICA, institution that supports low-income families that have children with cancer. While they commemorate the international day of the child with this condition, they also raised funds to continue this noble cause, which attends dozens of children of Puerto Vallarta and surrounding areas. Evelia Basañez, President of the Vallarta´s Feminine Association in Puerto Vallarta, gave awards to institutions, companies and individuals who have helped, through donations in cash and in kind.

José de Jesús Cruz Fonseca, para profesionistas, empresarios y estudiantes sobre la controvertida reforma laboral del actual régimen. El evento se desarrolló en el CECATUR, y contó con la amplia asistencia de todos los interesados en la materia.

El sábado 9 de febrero se celebró en todo el país el día del Scout, y Puerto Vallarta no fue la excepción. La zona de Bahía de Banderas cuenta con cuatro grupos de Scouts, quienes se reunieron en el Parque Hidalgo para convivir y compartir la experiencia de ser explorador, ambientalista y filántropo, en fin: Boy Scout. Los niños imprimieron la “Flor de Liz”, símbolo mundial de los Scouts, en latas, con la finalidad de motivar y concientizar a los niños sobre la necesidad del reciclaje y a fin de recaudar fondos que se donarán a la fundación “Corazón de niña”, casa hogar que apoya a niñas desamparadas.

The Bay of Banderas area with four groups of Scouts, gathered at the Parque Hidalgo to live and share the experience of being Explorer, environmentalist and philanthropist, in short: Boy Scout. Children formed the ‘Flor de Liz’, symbol of World Scouting, with cans, in order to motivate and educate children about the need for recycling and to raise funds that will be donated to the Foundation ‘Corazon de Niña ‘ (Heart of girl) a shelter that supports homeless girls.

Al realizar la entrega formal de uniformes deportivos a la escuela Secundaria Vasconcelos, que habrá de participar representando a Puerto Vallarta en diversos torneos Estatales durante este 2013 en las disciplinas de básquetbol, futbol y ajedrez, Danilo Rottigni, director de nuestra revista, los conminó a dar su mejor esfuerzo en este torneo estatal pero, sobre todo, a continuar su liderazgo y a motivar a otros niños a practicar el deporte. “A todos Ustedes, les deseamos el mayor de los éxitos, una vez más estos jóvenes deportistas tendrán el compromiso de llevar el nombre de Vallarta en alto; por eso estamos muy orgullosos de ser sus patrocinadores y les damos las gracias por la oportunidad de ser parte de este gran equipo”, recalcó Jhovaneeé Monge frente a maestros, padres de familia, entrenadores y alumnos. En este marco, la directiva de la escuela y padres de familia entregaron un reconocimiento a la revista THE VIP, por su apoyo al deporte.

Gran concierto de Flautas de la orquesta infantil El centro cultural de Puerto Vallarta presentó a la Orquesta Infantil de Ayuntamiento de PV en concierto de Flautas, bajo la dirección del Maestro Antonio Jerezano Araiga, Director de la escuela de música y de la propia Orquesta Infantil, así como a la Maestra Lourdes Galicia, del Sinfónico de los niños La Orquesta fue invitada por la asociación Rotary, distrito 4150, para tocar en la convención Rotario en Mazatlán que se prepara formalmente para su salida al evento de junio, en Lisboa, Portugal, donde se celebrará la convención Mundial Internacional de Rotary. Estos eventos han sido organizados por la Dra. Shari Shamsavari St. Martin, Embajadora de la Niñez Jalisciense, quien anteriormente organizó a otro grupo de orquesta Infantil y Juvenil en Lomas del Paraíso en el estado de Jalisco, con la participación de 89 niños que viajaron a Sonoma, California, en Estados Unidos, particularmente en el Green Music Center, para tocar e inaugurar el Centro de Música como parte de un intercambio cultural entre el estado de California y el estado de Jalisco.

The cultural centre of Puerto Vallarta presented a flutes´Concert of the municipality Children’s Orchestra of PV, under the direction of Maestro Antonio Jerezano Araiga, Director of the school of music and the children’s own Orchestra, as well as the teacher Lourdes Galicia, of the Symphonic of Children. The Orchestra was invited by the Rotary District 4150 to play at the Rotary Convention in Mazatlán formally preparing its departure to the June event in Lisbon, Portugal, wherethe World International Rotary Convention will be held . These events have been organized by Dr. Shari Shamsavari St. Martin, Ambassador of the Jalisco Childhood, who previously organized another group of Children and youth Orchestra in Lomas del Paraíso, in the state of Jalisco, attended by 89 children who traveled to Sonoma, California, US, particularly in the Green Music Center, to play and inaugurate the Music Center as part of a cultural Exchange between California,US and the State of Jalisco.

El Museo Peter Gray reunió la obra de los artistas más reputados entre los que residen en Puerto Vallarta, para integrar la exhibición permanente de su galería. Parte de la venta de los trabajos que integran esta exposición se donará al museo para que pueda continuar con algunas de sus actividades, tales como el Taller de arte que se imparte a niños de primaria de escuelas públicas, con lo que se les brinda la oportunidad de experimentar lo que es el arte en carne propia. “El arte nos une en comunidad sin discriminación”, fueron las palabras de Bill Megrail, curador del museo, quien también expuso algunas de sus obras junto con artistas como Javier Niño, Ada Colorina y Meg Munro.

The Peter Gray Museum gathered the most reputable artists that reside in Puerto Vallarta, to integrate the permanent exhibition of the gallery. Part of the sale of this exhibition will be donated to the Museum so it will continue some of its activities, such as the workshop of art that is taught to children in primary schools, as it gives them the opportunity to experience what is the art in first person. ‘Art unites us in community without discrimination’, were the words of Bill Megrail, curator of the Museum, who also exposed some of his works together with artists such as Javier Niño, Ada Colorina and Meg Munro.

Conmemoramos el Día Internacional de la Mujer, porque seguimos siendo un sector vulnerado en nuestras garantías individuales; si bien es cierto que la mujer hoy en día vive una realidad muy diferente a la que vivieron nuestras abuelas, tenemos avances en el reconocimiento profesional y social, no todo está resuelto. Es importante sumarse a proyectos, iniciativas, análisis y debates en todo el mundo para reflexionar y actuar en pro de la igualdad de género. Es cierto que las mujeres están ganando cada vez más espacios en el ámbito laboral, pero esta incorporación no siempre se da en condiciones de igualdad, a pesar de la existencia de leyes que prohíben la discriminación tanto en los sectores empresarial y académico, como en el político; en casi todos los países las mujeres tienen menos oportunidades de acceder a posiciones directivas y casi siempre ganan menos que los hombres en las mismas posiciones. La OCDE difundió en 2010 que en las compañías de los países miembros solo uno de cada diez cargos directivos es ocupado por mujeres, mientras que, a menor educación, mayores son los saldos de injusticia para este sector de la población. La brecha de género, como es patente, sigue siendo una realidadEl gobierno está poniendo su granito de arena; sin embargo, el reto más grande está en el ámbito social y familiar –el campo de mayor resistencia al cambio– donde, a través de los medios de comunicación de masas, que muestran roles tradicionales y numerosos estereotipos, por ejemplo el de la mujer abnegada que renuncia a sí misma, o de la mujer fatal, que se vale de sus atractivos físicos para escalar posiciones sociales y profesionales, se encarna en la cultura del sector una imagen que desvalúa el rol femenino.¿Esto da pie a que las cifras de feminicidios crezcan a niveles de escándalo en nuestro país? Los estudiosos de género tienen un campo de estudio enorme en este renglón de la inequidad nacional. Los hombres con cierta preparación académica se interesan y apoyan hasta cierto punto la equidad de género, pero aún existe un largo tramo para que cedan la toma de decisiones y el poder con base en la capacidad, el liderazgo y las aptitudes. Hay un largo camino por andar y debemos iniciar en nuestro hogar educando a nuestros hijos en circunstancias de paridad.

Maria Karina Macías Aguirre nació en México D. F., pero se crio en Guadalupe, Zacatecas y vive desde hace 11 años en Puerto Vallarta. Es Comunicóloga y Periodista, perfil con el que se desempeña como Directora de Radio Universidad y del Encuentro Internacional de Periodistas. Atribuye su éxito profesional a que le gusta romper estructuras, crear, disfrutar su trabajo y se considera un vínculo que facilita el libre curso de las ideas. Le gusta ayudar con su trabajo desde la radio a los diferentes ámbitos de la sociedad. Para ella la discriminación se debe a la inequidad y la ignorancia. El mayor reto en su vida profesional es compaginar su trabajo con la crianza de sus hijos y hacer bien ambas cosas. Admira a la mujer que es capaz de crear, de ser libre, de hacer lo que le gusta y que logra sus sueños, a pesar de las circunstancias

Nelly Barquet es una empresaria que ha explorado diversas facetas de su vida, destacando, entre otras, la gastronomía, donde ha desplegado su talento como propietaria del legendario Restaurant Las Palomas. Es originaria del D. F. Para ella, la cuestión de éxito profesional radica en el continuo crecimiento, con sus altas y bajas, pero siempre hacia adelante. Para ella, la falta de equidad de género es una cuestión de egoísmo.

Buri Gray es originaria de Torreón, Coahuila y, como buena norteña, siempre se ha caracterizado por su franqueza y fácil trato. De profesión maestra, estudió letras y trabajó en la prestigiada empresa de Procter & Gamble. Desde hace varios años es voluntaria de Becas Vallarta y dirige el patronato del museo Peter Grey, el cual alberga una interesante colección de arte que incluye obras de artistas con reconocimiento internacional. Las mujeres que han marcado su vida son su madre, Lupita Rodríguez de Salinas y su hermana, María DoloresTorres. Sobre la discriminación hacia la mujer opina que es falta de confianza en la capacidad de la mujer, mientras que la falta de equidad de género es un factor de costumbres y tradiciones desde una visión muy cerrada. Admira a cualquier mujer que defienda susprincipios de manera no violenta, cualquier mamá que ayude a sus hijos a mejorar con valores espirituales y humanos.

Gabriela Alejandra Enríquez Serrano es una joven profesionista tapatía, abogada y, actualmente, juez segundo en materia penal. El mayor reto que ha enfrentado en su vida profesional es tomar decisiones de gran impacto social, en cuanto juez, manteniendo a costa de lo que sea la justicia y la equidad, la cual considera que es un factor de alta cultura moral. Su madre es la mujer que ha marcado su vida. Considera que la discriminación hacia la mujer es un acto de violencia física y simbólica. Una de las mujeres que admira es Olga Sánchez Cordero, por las decisiones últimamente tomadas, que reflejan control y decisión en su trabajo como ministra.

Women that have marked his life are his mother, Lupita Rodriguez of Salinas and his sister, Maria Dolores Torres. On the discrimination toward women she believes that it is lack of confidence in the ability of the women, while the lack of gender equity is a factor of customs and traditions from a very closed vision. She admires any woman who will defend her principles in a non-violent manner, any mom who help her children improve with human and spiritual values.

Gabriela Alejandra Enríquez Serrano is a young professional tapatia, a lawyer and, currently, a judge in criminal matters. The greatest challenge that she has faced in her professional life is making decisions of great social impact and as a judge, maintaining above all justice and equity, which she believes it is a factor of high

moral culture. Her mother is the woman that has marked her life. She believes that discrimination toward women is an act of physical and symbolic violence. One of the women that she admires is Olga Sanchez Cordero, for the recently taken decisions, that reflect control and decision in her work as a minister.

Janice Chatterton, of American origins, is a businesswoman used to big challenges, she runs the Hotel Boutique and Restaurant Hacienda San Ángel with great success. She is an active member of the SPCAPV and she is has her own refuge for abandoned animals. For her, success relies in doing what she likes most. She admires any woman that is strong and stands firm on her principles, they are a role model to follow. For her, the discrimination toward women is unfair, as all forms of discrimination. One of today´s women that she admires most, is Hillary Clinton, for her intelligence, strength and courage.

Maria Karina Macías Aguirre was born in Mexico d.f., but was raised in Guadalupe, Zacatecas and lived for 11 years in Puerto Vallarta. She is a journalist and

the Director of Radio University and the International Journalists Meeting. She attributes her professional to the fact that she likes to break structures, to create, to enjoy her work, she considers herself a link that facilitates the free course of ideas. For her discrimination is due to inequality and ignorante.The biggest challenge in her career is reconcile her work with the upbringing of her children and do both well. She admires the woman who is able to create, to be free, to do what she likes and achieved her dreams, despite the circumstances.

Nelly Barquet is an entrepreneur who has explored various aspects of her life, highlighting, among others, the gastronomy, where she has deployed her talent as an owner of the legendary Restaurant Las Palomas. She is originally from Mexico City. For her, the question of professional success lies in a continuous growth, with its ups and downs, but always forward. For her, the lack of gender equity is a matter of selfishness.

Para ella la falta de equidad de género es desigualdad, que se manifiesta por ignorancia y miedo a la competitividad y debido al machismo. Admira a las mujeres que luchan y defienden sus ideales, a las mujeres inteligentes que se atreven a hacer las cosas, a pesar de las adversidades.

María José Zorrilla Alcalá es, además de empresaria hotelera, mimbro activo del Patronato de la Biblioteca de los Mangos, la cual preside con gran éxito. Nació en Cd. Victoria, Tamaulipas. Estudió Ciencias de la Comunicación. Para ella, el éxito es un estado que busca siempre salir de la inamovilidad porque, nos comenta, “…cuando crees que ya llegaste, no evolucionas, ni buscas crecer, innovar, te quedas en un estado de congelamiento. Lo interesante es el camino para buscar el éxito.” Uno de los mayores retos en su vida profesional fue en el sector turístico, estando en el Fidecomiso de turismo, entidad donde los intereses de unos y otros no coinciden, ni siempre derivan en las mejores decisiones para el destino. Para ella la falta de equidad de género se debe a la ignorancia generalizada. La mujer que admira de la actualidad es Melinda Gates porque, pudiendo hacer lo que quiera con su vida, se ha dedicado a atender su fundación, junto a su marido Bill Gates, y han ayudado y contribuido a construir un mundo mejor, más equitativo.

Marta Gilbert, artista estadounidense, radica plácidamente en Puerto Vallarta desde hace varios años. Ella atribuye su éxito profesional a un conjunto de personas y factores diferentes, principalmente a la gente hermosa de Vallarta. Una de las mujeres que han marcado positivamente su vida fue Georgia O´Keefe, pintora. Para ella la falta de equidad de género hacia la mujer encierra inseguridad masculina y femenina; sin embargo, en su caso, nunca la ha sentido. En la actualidad, admira a su empleada Martha por su fuerza, paciencia y sabiduría de mujer y de mamá.

Laurel Carrillo Ventura originaria de Jala, Nayarit es Química-farmacéutica- bióloga, actual presidente de Ciudades Hermanas de Puerto Vallarta/ Santa Barbara y miembro activo de varias asociaciones. Atribuye su éxito profesional al hecho de haber logrado sus objetivos personales durante estos años. Para ella la falta de equidad de género es, en gran medida, el escaso reconocimiento de las autoridades en los ámbitos políticos, sociales y culturales hacia el sexo femenino. Una de las mujeres que más admira es María Curie, pionera en el campo de la radioactividad, quien renunció a las riquezas para que sus descubrimientos ayudaran a combatir el cáncer, y fue la primer mujer en la historia en ser profesora de la Universidad de París.

Janina Lea Erban es originaria de Edmonton, Alberta, Canadá. Es una persona con una gran espiritualidad y maestra de idiomas. Dirige con gran éxito Paraíso Felino-Refugio de gatos, albergue de 200 animales rescatados en condiciones de abandono y maltrato. Cuidar de los gatos es una tarea que le impone seguir aprendiendo a ser mamá, doctor y representante publicitario para ellos. Una de las mujeres que ha marcado su vida de manera positiva es su mejor amiga, Beulah Banyard, por ser una mujer espiritual y leal. Para ella la discriminación hacia la mujer es un factor de dominación. “Las personas no entienden que somos ‘diferentes’, nos comenta, pero al mismo tiempo iguales”.

Liney Cornejo Mendoza es una joven empresaria vallartense, que estudió la licenciatura en Administración de Empresas, con especialidad en Mercadotecnia y Hotelería, habilidad con la que dirige con talento tres hoteles. Califica el éxito profesional en el hecho de tener claro a dónde quiere ir, visualizarlo y lograrlo. El mayor reto profesional en su vida ha sido defender sus ideas.

For her, success is a state of mind that keeps you moving because, “ …when you think you are done, you don’t evolve, you don’t growth nor innovate, you stay in a state of freezing. What’s interesting is the path to success.” One of the greatest challenges in her professional life was in the tourism sector, still in the escrow of tourism, entity where the interests of a few and others do not match, nor result in the best decisions for the destination. The woman who she admires nowaday is Melinda Gates because, beeing able to do what she wants with her life, she has been dedicated to run a foundation, along with her husband Bill Gates, and have helped to build a better, more equitable world.

Marta Gilbert, American artist, lives peacefully in Puerto Vallarta since several years ago. She attributes her success to a professional set of people and different factors, mainly to the beautiful people of Vallarta. One of the women that have marked her life was positively Georgia O’Keefe, a painter. For her, the lack of gender equity toward women encloses male and female insecurity, however, she have never felt it personally. At the present time, she admires her maid Martha for her strength, patience and wisdom as women and mother.
