D ear Randall Families,

We have a couple things going on in March.

On March 24th after school until 6pm, the PTSA will be

hosting a 6th and 7th grade Glow Party. Kids will require

a signed parental permission slip to purchase a ticket for

$5. Please look for the permission slip in your child’s

backpack, ticket sales will begin next week and end on

March 23rd. Admission includes an awesome DJ, Pizza

and drinks. Kids are encouraged to wear white or neon

to school that Friday. Each child will also receive a glow

necklace and 2 bracelets that were graciously donated

by Abdoney Orthodontics. The number of tickets sold

will be limited, so act fast.

The deadline for the photo contest is also March 24th.

Each student is allowed to submit 2 5x7 photos. They

have a chance to win a cash prize and epic bragging

rights. Submission forms are available in the office, or

can be printed from Randallptsa.org.

our Team.

The last fundraiser will be

an IPOD Day on Friday,

March 10th. Students will

pay $1 to each of their

teachers if they want to

listen to music in that

class. If they want to listen

to music all day, it will cost

$7. Please try to bring $1

bills.

on Saturday, April

The Science Olympiad Team is moving on to state. The team finished 6th at

Regionals and will compete on March 25 at UCF.

State Tournament on May 6 at Polk State

College.

FIELD TRIP

On Friday, February 17 over 140 STEM members

and chaperons enjoyed the USF Engineering

Expo and MOSI. Students learned about many

things about Science, Technology, Engineering,

and Mathematics. Both Robotics teams shared

their programing of their robot with other

students who attended the Expo. A full day at

USF was followed by the viewing the ROGUE 1 at

MOSI.

Thank you to all the chaperons who helped

make this a fun learning day!

and see the Judges’ Choice winners.

you to be aware of in March:

1. Please be sure you’re regularly

checking both the student’s Edsby

account as well as the parent’s account

because there is different information on each

of them. Keep in touch with teachers via email

in order to ensure your children are doing well.

2. The FSA Writing test was done 2/28-3/3.

3. The end of the 3rd quarter is Friday 3/10. The

4th quarter is 3/20 to 5/26.

4. Spring Break is the week of 3/13 so enjoy

yourselves!

5. The 5th grade Open House and Ice Cream

Social is in the cafeteria on Thursday 3/30

from 5 to 7 p.m.

6. Randall is following the GRIT philosophy this

year which stands for: 1. Give it your all. 2.

Redo if necessary. 3. Ignore giving up. 4. Take

time to do it right. In other words, Grit is the

stubborn refusal to quit!

7. We are the Randall Hawks and this year,

Hawks stands for Help, Activity, Walk, Know,

and Speak. Ask your child to explain that to

you in detail.

weekly by Ms. Mawhinney, the principal, but

you need to have an email address in our

computer system. You can also get lots of

information through this newsletter and

through Edsby and through our school’s

electronic marquee in the front of the school.
