BILINGUAL RESOURCES

Internet offers us many resources to work on bilingualism in the classroom with

our students. We are going to select some of these, the most importants. We

may use this resource in second grade to see the differences between Spanish

and English alphabet.

1.- Interactive Alphabet

We can learn and reinforce the alphabet in

Spanish and English with this resource. We

have to click on each letter of the alphabet and

the pronunciation of that letter appears.

For example, a is pronounced [ei]. When we follow by clicking on the letters, pictures,

which start with the same consonant or vowel, appear. With the letter A appears an

Apple. Similarly, after an astronaut appears….

We can also click on the vowels and illustrative drawings and exercises appear. One of

them is distinguishing between uppercase and lowercase: vowels are in a tree and we

have to move to a basket. When we click on the browser, he sings us a song

2.- Popular stories

This page offers a series of children's books all in English. A dynamic

exercise is that throughout the drawings will be recreating history and acquiring new

vocabulary associated with the drawing. Take

for example the story of Chicken Little. When you press the button below, we turn

to another page.

In another story like The Little Red Hen, we can press a button to play us what we

are reading.

With this page we can work the math using the English language. If we want the sum,

we will press the option Addition and we see the list

of topics and exercises that are on this operation.
