    NOAA Field Operatio

    Currently, the NOAA hydrographic vessels are required to

    insert the following sound speed uncertainty values inCARIS:

    For ODIM MVP Casts: use 1 m/s for casts every 15min or less

    For regular CTD Casts: use 4 m/s for casts every 4hours

    MVPs would automatically have lower uncertaintydue to the fact that they are typically taken much

    more frequently and therefore suffer less temporalincrease in uncertainty.
