Queen’s English Language School
Brochure 2020-21
Why Queen’s English Language School?
We organize courses in English as a Foreign Language for adults (18+) at all
levels from Elementary to Advanced, including Courses for Business People and
Au Pairs. If you are looking for a professionally run school with good resources
and qualified and committed teachers, look no further.
We are truly flexible and we always offer the course that suits your requirements:
Our classes are small, up to 10 students at busy times (adult courses), unless we
organize a special group course at your request.
We can normally start a new class with at least 4 people.

‘Queen’s English Language School gave me the confidence to stand
in front of people and speak about my work in a new language’
Miguel G., Spain
Why are we different?
We are committed to making sure that your learning experience is worthwhile and
prepares you for the future. We offer support for learners before and after
completion of the course.
It is possible to study
on-line and receive the same personal
attention as the students who attend the
school. This option is also open to
students living in our area as well
so if you cannot attend the school,
you do not have to give up
studying English.
Our lessons are delivered using
Skype, Google Classroom or Classin. Picture of Kingston Historic Market, taken on one

‘I heard so many horror stories about language schools and I am
glad there is no such risk with Queen’s English.’
Antonio P., Italy
What is our method?
Firstly, we interview each student to make sure we understand their reasons to
study English. We do not offer ‘packaged’ courses because we do not believe that
‘one size fits all’. We are interested in each student’s previous experience of
learning a foreign language, not
only English. We explore the way
each student learns best and
finally, why they want or need to
study English. We also use
traditional grammar and listening
placement tests. Age, interests
and personality, are all taken into
Students celebrating the completion
of their English course (2013) consideration, as well as your
timescale, to make sure we offer
you the best service possible. Only the School Principal or the senior teachers
conduct the interview, in order to offer you a course that suits your needs.
4
How are our courses organised?
We offer a variety of courses to adult students (18+) from different countries as
well as people already living in London. We have been offering English courses
since 2000 and we have a great deal of experience of students of any age and
language ability.
We also pride ourselves on the relationship we have built with local companies
we work with, delivering one-to-one or group English language training to their
employees.
Each session covers a different aspect of the language: speaking, listening,
reading comprehension, grammar and written
communication. During your course you will
be taught key aspects of English language and
culture, including interesting historical facts
and current affairs. At the beginning your
course you will be given a summary of the
course content so you can keep track of your
progress. Teachers incorporate their Outside view of the School (2019)
assessment in each course and this will be reflected in your end of course report.
We carry out weekly assessment and once a month each student meets their
main teacher for a tutorial, during which both the progress made and strategies
for improvements are highlighted and agreed.

listen to us. The staff really care for us students.’

Special Courses
English for Cambridge Examinations
We have been preparing students for a number of Cambridge Examinations and
we can arrange direct entry for the examination through a local exam centre
(www.thelondonexamcentre.) Please note that we do not apply any additional
charge for this service but the exam fee is not included in the course price.
Our English for Cambridge Examination Course teaching takes place either in
the morning, evening or at the weekend, to make sure we offer the widest
possible choice to our students. In this way, if you currently work in the UK,
either part time or full time, you are sure to find the course timetable that suits
YOUR schedule.

‘A special ‘thank you’ to my teachers at Queen’s English Language
School. They were flexible and understanding when my working
schedule as an au-pair changed at short notice.’
Natalia P., Poland
English Courses for Au Pairs
If you are an au-pair and one of your reasons for visiting London is to improve
your English, you are probably looking for a local school that offers flexibility of
attendance at a very reasonable price. We can accept au-pair students at any time
during the year, for any length of time and are the only local school of English that
can offer this. We understand that the family you work for may ask you to be
available at a short notice or to change previously made arrangements.
We do not charge for the half term week when you are busy with the children
because their school is closed.
Therefore, you can still
benefit from the advanced
payment discount, if you
choose it.

‘I have been three times now to Queen’s English Language School
for my summer course....... I am coming back next year!!’
Olga R., Russia
English Courses for Young Learners
We run courses for Young Learners aged 5 to 16. Summer courses run in June,
July and August of each year. We can teach young learners if they attend with
their family or if they do not require home-stay (for example, if they are under
the responsibility of a friend or relative).
We have a maximum of 8 students in each class on these courses (Young
Learners course).
The teaching of English as a Foreign Language to Young Learners requires an
appropriately skilled and experienced teaching staff. Our teachers are both
qualified to teach English and aware of the different requirement of young
learners teaching.
Please note that we need to know any dietary requirements and allergies at the
time of booking. Parents/ carers will be asked to sign a declaration that they have
made the school fully aware of any medical conditions for the Young Learners
enrolled with us.

Our standard courses timetable
Please note that the timetable for school groups will be adjusted to the group’s timetable to include
arrival/departure time, excursions, etc.
We offer flexible course
attendance from a minimum
of 4 hours a week. Classes
start at 9am, 10 am, 1pm and
6pm, giving you maximum
flexibility and choice.
Enrolment Procedure
Students are asked to complete a test to find out their language ability, so students
can be placed in the correct class. They will also be asked to come for an
interview, where the course will be discussed and agreed as well. If you live
abroad and you wish to complete all your enrolment before arrival, we offer a
Skype interview and our level test can be done on your computer in any case.
