Showing support for our Turtle Trot!
October was quite an amazing month! Thank you all for your support during the school’s incredibly successful Turtle Trot which raised enough for all of our classrooms to get a much-needed technology upgrade. And thank you to our PTO who organized this amazing event. As the interactive smart panels come in, we will be sure to keep you all updated!
November is probably my personal favorite month as we (hopefully) usher in some cooler fall weather and celebrate three things near and dear to my heart; Veterans, books, and family. My older brother is a Navy Veteran who served our country in Afghanistan and Iraq. His picture will be displayed on our Veterans Walls in the front of both schools and we invite you to send in photo-copied pictures (no originals please) of your Veterans to celebrate them this month. Just send the picture in with your child and label the picture with the Veteran’s name and where they served, and we will be honored to display in our hallways.
We also have an awesome service-learning opportunity in conjunction with Wounded Warriors to honor our amazing Veterans. Our school has an area to cheer on runners during the Carry Forward 5 K on Saturday November 9. Please see “The Wave” for more information.
We want to thank Fishman Pediatric Dentistry for their support of our Book Fair which will take place November 1st- 8th. An amazing selection of high-quality books will be available for our children and families to purchase. Be on the look out for information on when your child’s class gets to visit. Everyone is welcome on November 6th for Book Fair Family Night!
Finally, now is about the time of year I begin to yearn for the smell of pumpkin pie and a turkey in the oven. I’m grateful for our entire school family and wish you all safe travels and blessed time with your family and loved ones for Thanksgiving. Thank you all. Dr. Gates
It’s
Time!
Dear Sea Turtle Families,
It is with a grateful heart that I report to you on the success of our 9th annual
Turtle Trot! WOW! We had an overwhelming amount of participation from over
850 students who chose to collect pledges and help enhance our technology in
each classroom! Because of the incredible participation, we are able to
purchase ALL 61 of the new interactive TVs for each classroom and resource!
The turtley amazing part of the entire Turtle Trot is that we raised over
$161,000! All of that was raised by over 850 students! Literally, every donation
made an impact, and it truly was the most TEAM effort we have ever had! So,
thank you families for your outpouring of support for our school! Our school is
better because of families like YOU! Our 9th annual Turtle Trot is a perfect
example of how Together Everyone Achieves More!
Lastly, a huge thank you to our entire Turtle Trot committee and community
sponsor, Coastal Luxury Outdoors! You all were amazing, and we could not
have done it without you!
With Gratitude,
Leslie Bohsali

Thank you St. Johns County Fire Rescue for visiting PVPV on October 8 to teach our students about fire safety and prevention. Firefighters explained what an emergency is and who to call if there ever was an emergency. Students learned about fire safety at home and ways of preventing emergencies. Firefighters even took students on a tour of the ambulance and firetruck. Students were able to see and hear about the many firetruck and ambulance tools that are used when someone is in need. We appreciate all the many ways our firefighters help us and keep us safe. Thank you SJCFR!
FOOD DRIVE November 1st through November 15th
PVPV/Rawlings is hosting its annual food drive with all collections going to

consider bringing in a donation. Drop off boxes will be located in the
main entryway of each building. Monetary donations are also
accepted. More information on Farm Share can be found at
farmshare.org. Questions should be directed to Stacey O’Brien, PV

Greetings Sea Turtle Parents,
We are very excited to announce that we have a service learning opportunity for our students on Veterans Day Weekend, Saturday November 9th, at 7:30am to assist with the Carry Forward 5k in Jacksonville. The Wounded Warriors have set aside a section for PVPV/Rawlings students and families to come make posters, cheer on runners, hand out water bottles, and even hand out medals. This is a great opportunity to cheer on and support our veterans. If you are interested, please fill out the information on this sign up genius. Coach Harden and Ms. Rosberg will be in attendance representing our school as well and would love to see you there!

NEWS
ACE LOST AND FOUND – We now have a small cart in the front lobby where you check your child out. Please be sure to check the cart for any items your child may be missing. The items will remain there for a week or two and will then be moved down to the School Lost and Found which you will only be able to access during the school day and you will need to check in to do so.With the weather starting to turn please remember to label your children’s outerwear with their names so we will know whom to return it to. Also label their water bottles. We have so many students and unfortunately we are not able to search for students missing items.
HOMEWORK LAB – We are in the process of revamping our Homework Lab. Ms. Sullivan has accepted a full-time position at another school and we are hoping to have a new employee on board by Oct. 21st. We will also be moving our lab back to the Media Center which is much more conducive to doing homework and there are computers right there in the lab.
ATTENDANCE – Please be sure to remember to notify me when your child will not be attending ACE. Most of you are doing so and it makes our dismissal so much easier – THANK YOU!! It is truly appreciated.
ACE PAYMENTS – Please remember that ACE payments are due on the 10th of each month. Payment Number 4 was due on Oct. 10TH. If your payments are not received by the 15th at the latest you will be assessed a late fee. This is mandated by Florida State Law and we are accountable to the State Auditors.PLEASE BE SURE TO PUT YOUR CHILD’S NAME AND YOUR PHONE NUMBER ON THE PAYMENTS IF YOU ARE PAYING BY CHECK. It saves a lot of time when I do not have to look up each phone number individually.
