Webringyougreetings in the form ofour first
official newsletter The rule

We have somethingwonderful to sharewith you
There was much jumping for joy and praising the
Lord in
th e
Pruitt house when
we received

support needs had been met - This
period of rejoicing was followed by tears as each of
us fully realized chat it is now actually time to
leave. Weare experiencing rollercoaster emotions
aswe grieve over
leaving
our family, friends, and
our home. At the same time, we rejoice over
going,and anxiously awaitour departure and
what th e Lord has ahead for us inwiS^a?^
As we l ook b ack over the 18 months since first
answering the Lord's call to go to Kenya,we are
amazedat what a mightyGod He is. The Lord
literally opened the floodgates, pouring His rich
blessings
upon
us.
We are in
awe
of His provision
in our
lives
asHe met all of our needs bigand
small, evenmeeting our needs before weknew
they existed.

During the past year and a half, the Lor has
stretched usand molded useach stepof the
way.
This ishelping us to prepare for our future
ministry in Kenya. We have steppedW-A-Y out of
our comfort zone aswe knocked on doors, spoke
to churches, and presented the work chatGod
has
called us to do. Bur we did not step out alone. He
held our hand every seep of the
way.
Our deputation, or supporc-raising time, has been
a rich blessing to us.
Across
the scate of Oregon,
and even across the country, we havehad the
privilege of meetingmanyof our brothers and
sisters in Christ. We have been blessed by the
hospitality and generosity of so many. We have
been loved, prayed for, fed, and cared for bypeople
whom theworld would
call
strangers, but in
Christ we are family
The Present
Wehavejust returned from two
weeks of PILAT
Program jn Language Acquisition Techniques) in
Colorado.This extremely beneficial program is
designed to provide missionaries with the
necessary
tools needed to learn a new language. The program
also provided classes for Adam and Danielle on
adjusting to a newculture, as
well
as some
of
the
other issues
that
affect children on
th e mission field.
Although the
schedule was
demanding, we
f ou nd it to be a
special
time of
regrouping as a
family.
At this time we
are busypacking
our house, pre
paring our crate
forshipping,
purchasing
supplies, and
visiting our
supporting
churches, friends, and
family.
We do not have an

to let go of the reinsand let Him have total

What a Mighty God
We
Serve
We are KenyaBound
For the last four months, we have been waiting
anxiously for any news on our work permits.
These documents are necessary to allow usentry
into the country to live and work in Kenya on a
permanent or residentbasis. Without these
documents we could not go.
During this time, our permit applicationswere
denied once then resubmitted. At
times, the wait
was a difficult trial, and, other times, we were able
to clearly see our purpose inwaiting. At all times,
we prayed for the Lord's perfect timing and His
plan for our lives. We
never
doubted that the
Lord called us to Kenya and that Hewould make
a way .
The waiting is now over, and soon wewill be on
our way Aswewrite this letter, we tentatively
scheduledour departure from Portland, Oregon
to Nairobi, Kenya on January 9, 1998.What a
wonderful way to start the newyear
You have prayed and even committed to prayer
an fasting on our behalf. We do not have the
words to express our gratitude to you.We thank
you for faithfully waitingwith us and interceding
for us through prayer. We have beensupported by
the tremendous peace that only the Lord can
bringduring this time ofwaiting.
Membersof the CMF team in Kenya faithfully
pursued our documents and, along with team
members
all
over theworld, have earnestly prayed
on our behalf It is a humbling and awe-inspiring
feeling aswe envision a
circle
of prayeraround the
world. We praise the Lord for His faithfulness.
Wewould like to sharewith you someof the
blessing we have received during this time. We
have learned
during this time that waiting isnota
passive thing. It isa time of action. It isa precious
giftof time from the
Lord.
It is a time to prepare
and a t ime to t ru st .
We havelearned to useprayerandfasting asa very
realandpowerful way ofseeking God s willand
peace in this time ofwaiting. Wewere richly blessed
bya Day of Prayer and Fasting specifically for our
permits. Thank you
Aswe have anticipated
leaving, we havedrawn
nearer tofamily andfriends^ forming stronger
bonds thatwill endurethe distance and separation
ahead.
We have experienced theencouragement andprayer
support
of our teammembers in
Kenya,
many of
whomwe have not even met yet.
We are continuallylearning to trust the Lord and
let Him direct
every single day.
During the pastmonths ofwaiting, I have
completed several independent study assignments.
Part of our preparationwas to readseveral
textbooks on missions and write reports. They
havebeen beneficial studies and are sure to help us
understand
cross-cultural missions as well as th e
historyofworld
missions.
I have also been working
on continuing education projects to maintain my
CPA license. Although I must complete 80 hours
of study, this can be done through independent
study programs.
I have enjoyed theopportunity to serve with the

leadership of thischurch.
Anne Marie, Danielle, and Adam have been busy
homeschooling. Thismeant digging through and
unpacking our packed, itemized, and
weighed
trunks to locate
textbooks and school
supplies.
We are thankful that wekept them and did not
send them off in our shipment bound forKenya.
They have beenworking hard to accomplish as
muc as possible, knowing fullwell that when the
call came to go to Kenya, schoolwould be
cancelled
fo r a while.
What Now?
We have much to do in completingour
preparations to go. We are scheduling our tickets,
repacking our trunks—both for storage and to
takewith us. We had to unpackmuch ofwhat
we had already packeddue to our wait. We still
need to locate
storage,
sell
the house, sell the cars,
and squeeze in just a littlemore timewith you,
our friends and family. We are thankful for the
special blessing of getting to enjoy another holiday
season with our families. God is so good
