This blog is addressed to students in sixth grade
Learning Objectives:• Properties of Minerals: Define a mineral, how minerals form and where
mineral resources are located• Classifying rocks: List the characteristics used to identify rocks, and
identify the three major groups of rocks.• Ingeneous Rock: Identify the characteristics used to identify ingenous
rocks.• Sedimentary Rocks: Describe how sedimentary rocks form.• Metamorphic rocks: Describe the conditions under which metamorphic
rocks form, how geologists classify metamorphic rocks, and how metamorphic rocks are used.
Environment and Methodology
The content and activities in every lesson are organized by the 5E learning cycle phases, to guide students through each phase. This approach Foster inquirí-based learning and allows students to use and build upon prior knowledge and experience to construct meaning.
