The IES LA MOLA takes part in aninternational project COMENIUS:
Bilateral Association with theLICEO SCIENTIFICO STATALE ETTOLE MAJORANA de ISERNIA (ITALIA).
¿What is a Comenius
association?
A Bilateral association is a project between two schoolsfrom two different countries.
Its main aim is to reinforce theEuropean dimension of
Educación.
These associations are thoughtto work together in order tomotivate students and so,
improve their ability tocomunicate in a foreign
language.
They are based on thecommon work between
students and teachers about anspecific issue.
Tiene una duración de dos cursos escolares.
It takes place during thecurrent course and the next
one.
It is supported with fundsfrom the NATIONAL AGENCY,
OAPEE.
It includes an exchangebetween the students of
both schools during a periodof ten days
Work together on one ormore subjects of common
interest(EUROPEAN STUDENTS
BUILDINGA SUSTAINABLE EUROPE)
Encourage the knowledge of theexistence of different cultures and
languages in Europe and theimportance/value of that difference.
Know at first hand differentaspects of the daily life and schoolsystem of the associated country.
Encourage tolerance, understandingand respect for other cultures,
and for people from other countries.
Achieve more interest
for other countriesand cultures.
Use of the new Informationand CommunicationTechnologies (TIC)
Promote the Interdisciplinaryapproach of Education
as it is a projectin which different departemts of
both schools are involved.
Offer students the necessaryresources to communicate in a foreign
language in a real-life situation, improving their communicative skills
and their motivation to learn differentlanguages.
This project started between the friendship of two English teachersfrom both schools: Mónica Palacios, from
IES LA MOLA, and Letizia Perna from LICEO SCIENTIFICO MAJORANA
As a result of that friendship, the English Departament ofIES LA MOLA and LICEO SCIENTIFICO MAJORANA
organized an exchange with students from both schoolsduring the course 2008-09. In that occasion, none of them
received any kind of financial support from the 0APEE.
After the greatsuccess of that
exchage…
it was decided to applyfor a Bilateral Project
COMENIUS between the two schools
This year the OAPEE has passed our project and has awarded thenecessary funds to carry out the project during this course
and the next one. The name of the project is“EUROPEAN STUDENTS BUILDING A SUSTAINABLE EUROPE”.
Although it was born as an initiative of the English Departments of both schools, it is thought to imply different departments and students
from different levels, as well as parents, Local Councils, and Firmsrelated to the subject of Environment and Sustainability.
Create a BLOG where we canpublish all the activitiesdeveloped during the project.Carry on with the project“Obrim una Finestra al Món”,alsoinvolved with the Environment.Contest to find a logo ofthe project among the studentsof both schools.
Create a Web page where we canpublish all the activities
Good Environmental actions in your own school:Recycling workshops: paper, soap, pencil boxes, etc.Different bins/containers to select different types of waste in yourschool. etc.
Photographic Rally : “Good and Bad Practices
to preserve the Environmentin your town and its
surroundings.
“Open our own green windowto the World” where we can show
every month all kind of newsabout Sustainability and the
Environment.
Exhibitions related to the subjectof the project
Create an ecological glossary in different Languages: Spanish, English,
French, Italian, Valencian.Exchange of students of both schools
(16-17 YEARS)
Participate in differentEnvironmental Routes to know
the richness of our backgroundand the importance
of preserving it.
