Dear Friends, Churches and People Who Care about Missions: We have…A Blessing We can Drive. We have been a one car family for a while now. We also had no plans to get a second car until we had enough in our saving account to acquire one. Sadly, that appeared to be sometime in the far off future. But a crisis arose. The carpool that I was using to get around became unavailable and we were left in a difficult position. Because of financial gifts from some churches, family and friends, we got within reach of getting a car for Tina. And we did just that. She went out and found a bargain on a 2008 Yaris. She is a happy camper now and so am I. We are now able to do our multiple ministries with much more freedom. …Things to Get Used to Getting ready for church, I went to the local Colmado (neighborhood store). I found this entire pig draped over the bare counter with the additional photogenic display of a trickle of blood that reached the floor in front of the counter. I have lived here long enough that none of this surprised me. Just another day of missionary life on the mission field. An Interesting Easter. The Easter week service was an extra unusual blessing. We had four guest speakers over three days of services and all of them were people that were part of our ministry. A Bible College student preached in our Thursday night prayer meeting, a single-lady missionary who I trained came back from Mexico and presented her field, a young man that I discipled came and preached for our Good Friday service and one of my deacons preached Easter Sunday. We had 35 people attend our Good Friday service and were very encouraged. …A Bathroom That is Trying to Leave Home. We recently paid a contractor to fix our bathroom drainage problem: our house had a shower that drained directly onto the ground right outside of the bathroom. The plumber tied the drain into the sewer system, but in the process of fixing the problem, it got worse. We can now see daylight through large cracks in the walls where the bathroom is joined to our bedroom. We think that the ground dried up and shrank away from the house, lowering the foundation. Whatever is happening, when you find that your bathroom is trying to leave home, it is not a good day. So far we have been given two options: 1. Do nothing and hope it will stop. Then patch the cracks. This is doable, but unsatisfactory. 2. Demolish and rebuild. This is undoable and alarming. For the time being, we have done all that we know to do and are trusting God with the results. Please pray for the healing of our missionary house here in Puerto Rico. • Dear Friends, Churches and People Who Care about Missions:

We haveA Blessing We can Drive.

Things to Get Used to Getting ready for church, I went to the local Colmado (neighborhood store).

A Bathroom That is Trying to Leave Home. We think that the ground dried up and shrank away from the house, lowering

the foundation.

    May-June 2013

Medical Update A few months ago I noticed a pain in my left hip. Although unrelated, investigating this led to the discovery of a nodule that proved to be cancerous in my prostate gland. After consulting with my physician, I have surgery scheduled Wednesday, June 5th. They are going to remove the entire prostate to make sure they get all the cancer out. The doctor and the tests seem to indicate that I am a good candidate for a favorable out come, but I am still nervous about it when I hear "only" 30 percent suffer from one complication and 10 percent from another. So please pray that I can have peace and a good outcome from this procedure.

    Challenges

We have health insurance but have to pay about 40 percent of things such as CT scans and lab tests.

We are facing a $1,500 expense for the surgery and the cost of the medicine, etc. afterwards.

Also, during the summer, our income usually dips and we have less resources to meet these needs.Your prayers, encouragement and financial help during this time would be greatly appreciated.

    Hurt but in Church

A man in our church had a bad fall and was in the hospital yesterday with a bad skull injury and injured ribs. He is awaiting his x-rays to see if they are broken, but in the mean time, and while in pain, he came to church.

He said, "With everything going on, I just had to come here. You are like a father to me."

I wish more people felt that way, running to the house of their Heavenly Father when in trouble. Our church is still small, but at least to some in Puerto Rico, it is the place to go to find that help and comfort that comes from God.

    Blessings

Some of our Puerto Rican churches have sent us checks already and have prayed for us during their services. It is wonderful to us to receive help from churches we have helped in the past.

Also, my daughter Bethany and her husband Abe are missionaries to St. Croix, USVI. Their church took up an offering so she could come help Tina care for me during my after surgery recuperation . It is wonderful to me when mission churches can in turn help missionaries in need. Praise the Lord!

    Dios Les Bendiga,

(May the Lord Bless You All),
