Overview of the Semester

Type of brief: I think I can handle both kinds of project. “Tight brief” allows me to start easier and save time for figuring things out, but the result won’t be 100% satisfactory due to some of the limitations. While “open brief” is a bit difficult for me at first as I am kind of person that like to stick to rules, however for the outcome, that’s really depends on the choices that I made, which varies a bit, but there are sometimes surprises which is good.

Integral elements: I always think that I don’t really have a specific style, although I do have some preferences. I like to use sketchy and broken lines, and curvy forms. I especially like using hand drawn types. I care a lots of the quality of lines, to do this, I will use more different kinds of drawing materials and explore their possibilities.

Success: I think I work quiet independently, what I mean is, I am able to make choices and finish my work within a limited time. The most successful project for me will be the trains collection project, the reason for that may be because I know exactly what I want and tell through my catalogue.

Problems: My problem is that whenever there is new brief, I can’t find them interested and have motivate to start, and also I have no confi-dence in doing every project. How I overcame them is by start doing the project as quick as I can, and when I got something good, I will be able to continue.

Personality: I am interested in weird things and sometimes ugly things, I think I have kind of introduce it into my works. For creative direction, it seem to me that I am on the right track this semester, I just want my style to be more mature and more recognisable.

Personal Development Plan

1. How will you develop and broaden your technical abilities?

I am not quiet sure, I think I may try to find a summer job in the art industry or some freelance jobs, I have learned some things but I know that when it comes to the real work, things can be totally different, I want to know how my technique can be used under more limitations and tighten schedule.

2.How will you develop and broaden you knowledge of contemporary practice in relation to your own interests?

By doing jobs, I think it can help me to understand the recent trend and demand to a certain extent. But if talking about my own interests, I think it is better for me to check up my favourite artists regularly and also read more contemporary art magazines.

Personal Development Plan

3.How will you nurture and develop you current strengths?

As I mentioned before, my strengths is related to my working altitude, work independently, stick to schedule and following rules. And I know that many people like do things at the last minute, and actually this kind of people is everywhere, it is almost impossible for me to change them, what will be probably happen is I will be influenced by them instead. So what I have to do is keep what I have is good while learning from others.

4.Where do you need to strengthen your game and more importantly how are you going to make this happen. What action needs to take place? To strengthen my game, it is clearly that I have to try working with different people even I don’t really like doing this, as it is more hard for me to control the pace. Hopefully, by doing this, I can handle different kinds of situation and finish my work with good quality even in adverse condition.
