Motivation

SAP NetWeaver Portal has been widely adopted as a cross-system UI integration layer that

provides a harmonized single point of access to all business application in the organization

With this increasing adoption and provision of all capabilities needed for integrating applications with a

single point of access, comes an ongoing requirement to reduce the overall TCO of the product and to

improve the scalability and performance of the Portal

Scenario Overview

With SAP NetWeaver Portal 7.3, SAP puts special attention on three main areas: TCO reduction,

supportability and standards and functional enhancements. These three areas of enhancement provide

the customer with a best-of-breed UI integration layer while reducing the overall complexity of the

solution and the overall TCO required to run the Portal.

With SAP NetWeaver Portal 7.3 customers can enjoy an end-to-end UI integration layer for SAP and

non-SAP applications and Business Objects reports, while maintaining low TCO and administration

efforts.

Various tools for administrating the solutions from different vendors

CIO

High TCO for running a heterogeneous landscape

High costs for licenses & training the solutions

Limited control and governance / guidelines

Building Communities with Wikis - Overview

Productivity can fall up to 40% when a user frequently switches tasks and applications

Finding information can cost $10,000 per person per year

Line of Businesses heavily depends on IT to create, manage and publish business content

People cannot easily share their knowledge and experiences with their team members

Complicated interfaces, tools and solutions (incl. third party vendors) require expensive

user training and support

Page 42: Portal 7.3

EDB Business Partner > slide 42

Wiki Value Proposition
