PNR history is a permanent record of additions, changes, and deletions to a PNR. Each transaction in history displays in chronological order with the most recent items near the top. Transactions are recorded to history with their associated “received from” field, which identifies the source of the transaction. The received from field provides a method for identifying and permanently storing the authorization for the changes or modifications to the PNR. In history, these are referred to as credit lines. Credit lines are each listed directly under their associated transaction.

The credit lines for the creation of the PNR are the first and last items in history. At the top, the line shows the purge date. At the bottom, the line contains the CRT address (787406). Manual received from entries are not mandatory because Worldspan automatically adds credit lines for each transaction. For agency-generated transactions, the credit line contains the agent sine, SID and time. Airline-generated transactions, such as the acknowledgments sent from America West, are added automatically by the system. This PNR shows a manual received from entry for the creation of the PNR. It was entered as 6 PSGR. History items can be generated by agencies, airlines, hotels and car vendors, or by internal system processing. Automatic internal system processing includes transactions such as waitlist clearance, schedule changes, and flown segments. Airline segments go to history at midnight on the day following the flight date, and appear at the top of the history display. Hotel segments are added at midnight on the check out date. Car segments appear the day following the pick up date. 5.Z unique remarks appear in history only if they are added or modified after the initial creation of the PNR. When they are added to a newly created PNR before end transaction, they do not appear in history. Certain items in history are suppressed, and are displayed using *HAH. Items suppressed in history are not necessarily the same as PNR suppressed items, such as seat fax. Queue placement and removal is an example of a suppressed history item. Indexes for reference pages related to PNR history can be found in HELP and INFO HISTORY. Now let’s look at codes found in history, and tips to help interpret history displays.

Reducing the history display to a specific area, such as hotels, makes interpreting the display easier. If the display is still lengthy, it is helpful to print a hardcopy. History display entries can be appended to standard hardcopy entries: See HELP *HPARTS for more examples of history display entries. Let’s look at another example.

In this PNR, round-trip segments were booked and the record was ended. Acknowledgments were received from Air Canada for the segments. The flights were then canceled. This history display uses numbered credit lines. Remember the transaction associated to the credit line shows above the credit line. Credit Line 1: Called Creation Lines, this information appears at the top of history, after any flown segments. These lines repeat the data from the original credit line at the bottom of history, with the exception of the CRT address. The PNR purge date is also given here. Credit line 2: Canceled segments (history code XS). These flights were canceled by General Sales (GS) agent AA, on September 27, at 2103 Zulu, using CRT LNIATA 787406. Credit Line 3: Added Direct Response acknowledgement (history code AD) from Air Canada. These acknowledgments were sent from Air Canada on September 27, at 2103 Zulu. Credit Line 4: Added Segments (history code AS). These flights were sold by General Sales (GS) agent AA, on September 27, at 2103 Zulu, using CRT 787406. This is the original credit line for the PNR, and is partially repeated in credit line 1. So this PNR was created and canceled all within one minute, which is obviously not usually the case. Let’s talk more about history codes.

History codes are listed in HELP HISTC with their definitions. These codes are important keys to interpreting history displays. When you know who originated the transaction and what the code is, you can decipher the display. Our next subject is Zulu time, or Greenwich Mean Time. 3. Access the time display for New York.

All times are recorded in Worldspan history displays using Greenwich Mean Time (GMT). GMT is used as the basis of worldwide standard time. The Prime Meridian, or zero degrees longitude, runs through Greenwich, England.

GMT is also called Zulu time, and is given in a 24 hour clock format. History displays show the time followed by Z, such as 2103Z, to distinguish it from local time. Zulu time can be converted to local time by using KCD entries.

Because daylight saving time is observed in New York, time differences are given for both daylight saving and standard time. This display shows local time in New York is 5 hours earlier than Zulu time between October 28, 2001 and April 7, 2002 (standard time). The difference is only 4 hours during daylight savings time. Don’t confuse the differences to Zulu with the difference to local time in Europe. Other countries also participate in daylight savings with slight differences as to when they change their clocks. For our purposes, this is just for converting time in history displays.

To convert Zulu time for history items added between October 28 and April 7, subtract 5 hours from the Zulu time given in the credit line. For example, 2103Z would be 16.03, or 4.03PM. {instructor: use time given in your current master PNR}

The local equivalents for standard and daylight saving time are given in the table. Worldspan maintains pastdate PNRs for three years on microfiche. Pastdate PNRs can be requested individually using this template. Agencies can also subscribe to regular deliveries of all pastdate PNRs for each week. Questions regarding billing for pastdate microfiche deliveries and requests can be directed to Worldspan Customer Operations. Purged PNRs

Thirty days after the most future itinerary segment, the PNR is purged from the system and copied on microfiche. If desired, the retention period can be extended for more than thirty days, using retention segments. Exceptions to the thirty day PNR retention period include prepaid PNRs and PNRs for agencies following the European Union (EU) code of conduct regulations. For details, refer to INFO PURGE. Once purged, copies of the PNR and its history can be requested using the pastdate message template. Printouts from the microfiche record of the PNR are mailed when Worldspan receives a request. Fax copies of printouts from microfiche are not used due to low print quality.

Pastdate records contain all information present in the PNR at the time the record is purged from the system, except travel segments. Each PNR will have a unique pastdate record containing the data pertinent to the PNR.

Elements in this example may not appear in every pastdate. Example explanation:

5. PNR History History begins with the section of the pastdate showing the history credit lines extended to the left. Transactions associated to each credit line are numbered, such as (01) and (02).

One history line (01) is associated to the first credit line. This is the canceled ticketing field, XT T//08, which moved to history at the time of ticketing. Agent AR issued the ticket at 1ZA, 0914Z, November 24, CRT address DD901A, at the request of the passenger, (RCVD) P/.

6. Two history lines (01) and (02) are listed in the next transaction.

British Europ (JY) has sent two Direct Response acknowledgments identified by history code AD. Their locator is I4RFMP. The transactions are numbered and followed by (RCVD) data from the British Europ reservation system.

7. Two history lines (01) and (02) are listed in the next transaction also. Two flights are added, identified by history code AS. The transactions are numbered and contain passenger status codes, SS/SS/01/0. Direct Response is pending (DR-P).

8. Document History: Document history is appended to the pastdate and begins with the details for the ticketing agent (agent sine, date, SID) and the ticket number. Remaining sections of document history are identified as they are normally seen in a PNR display. See the Document History topic of this lesson for more.
