AMADEUS BASIC RESERVATIONS 7-1

HE PNR

A Passenger Name Record (PNR) contains the details of a passenger’s reservation andother information related to a passenger’s trip. PNRs can also contain information toassist airline personnel with passenger handling.

The items of information that make up a PNR are called elements. A PNR can containa maximum of 999 elements. These PNR elements can either be mandatory or optional.

The mandatory elements are:

When creating a PNR, you can enter the elements in any order. You can also combineseveral elements into one entry. As the system accepts each element, it assigns anumber and places it in the proper sequence.

After you have entered the five mandatory elements, use an end transaction commandto file the record in the Amadeus System. When a PNR is filed, it is assigned a 6-character code called a record locator. The record locator is used to retrieve a previouslycreated and filed PNR.

PNRs remain active in the Amadeus system for three days after the date of the lastactive or inactive segment in the itinerary. Once a PNR has been purged, you canretrieve the corresponding past date record for another five years.





Some unique features of the Amadeus PNR are:

• All elements are numbered consecutively, making modifications easier.

• All names are displayed individually, even though two passengers may havethe same family name.

• All names are displayed in alphabetical order by family name, regardless ofthe way they were entered during PNR creation.

SEGMENT ELEMENT HE SS

A segment element can be a flight, hotel, car, or cruise element. A PNR can contain upto 99 segments.

In a PNR, the segment element follows the name, and is numbered consecutively.

You can enter a flight segment using:

• A short sell entry from an availability display

Short Sell Entry

When you have an availability display on your screen, you can make a short sellsegment entry from the display.

When a class of service in the availability display shows a status 0 / L or R, you can still

reserve a seat for the passenger but the he is on a waitlist status.

Arrival Unknown Segment

An arrival unknown segment is an information segment you enter in the PNR to maintainsegment continuity. ARNK is used when a passenger uses another form oftransportation between cities or airports within the itinerary.

Open Flight Segments

When a passenger does not know the exact time or date of travel, you can enter anopen segment in the itinerary. Open segments maintain segment continuity, and can beused for pricing and ticketing.

To create an open segment, enter:

• Renumbers the itinerary elements

- Adding fictitious date in the entry is recommended for pricing and ticketing

Ghost Segments

You use ghost segments to be able to produce a quotation for an itinerary withoutactually booking any segments.

• Ghost segments may be used with all airlines, including system user airlines

• Information is never sent to the relevant airline.

• Ghost segments cannot be used for ticketing.

When entering a ghost segment, you must include the PNR record locator, when bookedin another system.

To help differentiate between the levels of participation used when making a segment sell, Amadeus displays anyone of the following status codes upon selling:

NAME ELEMENT HE NM

A passenger name consists of the family name, given name, and title. You can enter upto nine names in a PNR. A name can contain up to 60 characters.

The acceptable titles are:

When creating a name element for an infant, you must include the passenger type, andthe infant must be associated to an adult name.

Note: Some airlines may require specific titles. Check with the airline.

To create a single family name element, enter:

• Numbers the name element

• Places the names in alphabetical order by family name, regardless of how youentered them

• Creates an OSI element when entering the name of the child.

• Creates an SSR element after the air segment is added in the PNR





CONTACT ELEMENT HE AP

The contact element is used to store contact information of a travel agency and theirpassengers in the PNR. With the exception of a transaction code, the contact element isfree-flow text. A PNR can contain up to 127 contact elements, each with a maximum of90 characters.

Travel agency contact must be the primary number added in the PNR.

It is recommended that the contact element of your Travel agency be entered in thefollowing order:

The received from element identifies the person making or modifying a reservation. Youcan enter a maximum of 69 characters. During PNR creation the received from elementis displayed as the second line in the PNR. After you end transaction, the received from

element is moved to the PNR history.

A received from element is required when creating a new PNR or modifying an existingone. To create the receive from element, enter:

IGNORE and REDISPLAY HE IR

After ending the PNR, an RLR will be displayed at the upper left corner of the booking

indicating that the airline participates in the record locator return tool in Amadeus.Please refer to GGPCAXX, where XX is the airline code to check if that carrier is aparticipant in the said tool.

To display the airline record, the entry below is recommended

To ignore current updates to an existing PNR and have the PNR redisplayed on yourscreen in its original form is another useful feature of this command.

IGNORE TRANSACTION

You can ignore a PNR anytime during creation or modification.

When you ignore a PNR during creation, all elements are omitted and any flight, hotel,or car booking will be returned to inventory.
