Fundraiser for the Sangdo Palri Temple

Pema Chodron has graciously offered to use all proceeds of this program as a fundraiser for constructing the Sangdo Palri Temple in southern Colorado. According to Tibetan tradition, Sangdo Palri is the residence of Padmasambhava, one of the greatest figures of the Nyingma lineage, to which Dzigar Kongtrul Rinpoche and his students belong. But in essence, this temple is a physical representation of our own enlightened nature. We intend for Sangdo Palri to be a place where the blessings of awakened mind are vivid and transformative, and from where positive energy will radiate throughout the world, benefiting countless living beings. Mangala Shri Bhuti and its Teachers

Pema Osel Do Ngak Choling, this dharma center where you have come to receive Pema Chodron’s teachings, is part of a larger community called Mangala Shri Bhuti (MSB). We would like to tell you a little more about MSB and its teachers.

Dzigar Kongtrul Rinpoche, MSB’s founder, is one of Pema Chodron’s main living teachers. Born in India in 1964, he has been teaching in the West for over 25 years and is the author of several books, including It’s Up to You and Light Comes Through. Rinpoche is known for extracting from the teachings what is most relevant to modern students, and for his humor,

kindness, and insistence on the profound value of dharma.

Elizabeth Mattis Namgyel is Rinpoche’s wife and most senior student. She has been studying and practicing the dharma since meeting Rinpoche in the 1980s. She calls her approach to the Buddhist teachings “open questioning” and has written a book on this theme: The Power of an Open Question.

Dungse Jampal Norbu is Rinpoche and Elizabeth’s son. He was brought up in Colorado and has been teaching since 2009. Dungse Jampal articulates a refreshingly unassuming experience of the teachings, often peppered with humorous anecdotes and surprising analogies.
