Dear Parents,

As the rst month of school ocially draws to a close, life in MS has now fallen into a

steady roune. Aer-school acvies have commenced and students are enjoying a

wide range of acvies from sports and dance through to arts and service learning

clubs. Students are excited about these opportunies and are exploring their passions

with interest and enthusiasm.

We would like to extend our gratude for supporng yesterday’s MS Open House

event. We hope you enjoyed meeng your son/daughter’s teachers and gained deeperinsights into the learning that takes place in the middle school. Next week’s Parent Bul-

len will include a parent survey and we will use this feedback to inform our planning

for next year’s event.

Parents of G8 students are reminded that there is a parent coee for parents who wish

to learn more about ISM’s Global Program. The meeng is on Wednesday, September

2nd at 6:00 p.m. in the Lohouse.

The week of September 7th - September 11th is Freedom from Chemical Dependency

(FCD) week. External counselors will be spending me with grade 8 students through-

out the week and holding an assembly for all students in middle school focused on mak-

ing wise decisions.

We are currently nalizing our plans for the upcoming Classroom Without Walls

(CWW) event which is scheduled for Thursday, September 17th and Friday, September

18th. The focus of the September CWW acvies is to develop team-building skills and

strengthen our MS community. Later on today parents will receive an email communi-

caon about the respecve grade level events. The purpose of these communicaons is

Dear Parents

At the moment we observe a peak of eye infecons in

Metro Manila. There is evidence that most cases are

caused by a virus and will resolve within a week without

treatment.

“Pink eye” is very contagious and very oen an enre

family or household is aected. It is so easy to get it and

yet so easy to prevent it as well:

Wash hands frequently and use hand sanizer.

Avoid touching other people’s face

Refrain from touching your eyes.

Don’t share face towels or eye make up

Please also remind your son or daughter about the neces-

sary hygiene measures.

If a pink eye occurs the Sick Day Guidelines must be

strictly followed to avoid that the infecon can spread in

school:

Pinkeye or Conjuncvis – This can be caused by a virus-

es, bacteria, or allergy. There may be redness, swelling,

itchiness, discharge and puness. A student with thesesymptoms should not come to school but should visit

their doctor to see if anbioc drops are necessary. The

school requests a medical cercate of clearance by their

doctor before returning to school, as this condion can be

extremely contagious.

If a student comes to school with a pink eye, he or she is

sent to the clinic and must be picked up with a private

vehicle. Please understand that we cannot allow students

with a pink eye to ride the school bus. The eye infecon

normally lasts around 5 days. The student can then return

to school with a medical cercate which is normally is-sued by an ophthalmologist (eye specialist).

Please let me know if you have any further queson or

need a doctor’s recommendaon.
